Let's Go to the Video Tape

!!! First thing, we've got to get him to turn around and beat the pass rushers. lol, though picky. Thanks, Jeff, for good and reassuring info.

Will people always find something to complain about?

Speaking for myself, I see mistakes galore even during the average rout (admittedly rare with the Cards--Mexico City). If they were winning the Super Bowl, I'd be fairly happy, but start worrying about letdown, loss of free agents, etc. right away after the game ended.

    Two Years Ago

I completely agree with this, and with the earlier posts about this being a different team. Having KT makes a ton of difference, if DA uses him right. We've got Barbosa, who's potentially a better offensive weapon than JJ (and who I hope is practicing passing to Amare when Duncan comes over to...

GS series validates Dirk as MVP...

That means the real MVP is Diaw--look how badly the Hawks do, when he was there but unplayed, and with him gone!

    Nash for MP3

I think Steve has more Fun in his game, etc., than Magic--not by a lot, but a little. Magic didn't have room for it because he had a lot more Love in his game. Steve gets some delight out of his maneuvers, but when he gets one puzzle solved he's back working on the next one--he's an engineer...

Official ...... Cardinals sign 20 Undrafted Free Agents

I sure wish we'd sign more OTs as FAs. Really, we only got one who specialized in OT recently. With that article claiming that OTs were especially likely to succeed if they had 4 college years in the position, you'd think we could find a few rough diamonds just in case Brown gets hurt...

    Settle Down

Well, I still feel a giant rush of supercilious self-aggrandisement. Miami, Dallas, Lakers--are all the overpuffed, ref-protected teams gone from the playoffs? Well, no, there's still SA. And Yao, but he can't get past GS. Of course, for ref-protection to break down for Dallas, the opposite...

OT: Great read on the Cuban/Nelson feud (mentions Nash)

After reading comments about this article here [http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-24-1/Wall-Street-Journal-on-Don-Nelson-vs--Mark-Cuban.html], I am going to have real trouble rooting against the Warriors if GS faces the Suns in the WCF. I love the Suns, feel nothing much about GS, but...

    Given up on Gabe?

:D Or, using "The Brick Wall" too, "The Brick Heads". Or maybe "The Wall of Meat". Has anyone seen that sci-fi classic, "They're Made Out of Meat"? On the Web.

Predicting the final 53 man roster

Any specific reason why Brandon Johnson's gone from the LB lists? Also, is there any recent word on Darling--are they still working to sign him, or given up?

    OT: The McNabb/Kolb Clash

McNabb is a great quarterback. He has often carried that team on his back without a lot of help. And the broken leg, etc..... He has been criticized by pond scum--not referring to anyone on this board, of course--the identities of the pond scum are well known. I would take pains not to join...

    Given up on Gabe?

I still like my final idea in an earlier post about this: we can now use Sumo Wrestling as half-time entertainment every Sunday, and save on all those boring musical acts.

Ya gotta be what ya be

Interesting thread. I see the points of sunsfn and F-dog, but how do you go through the regular season with their 60+ win season and have troubles that deep--weak-defense identityless hodgepodge? They beat or threatened the Suns--how can they be so shabby against GS?

    Travarous Bain a Cardinal

I don't understand the enthusiasm. The negatives posted include that he doesn't do run support and is a horrible, avoidant tackler. Those sound like skills you learn before pro camp, and they are absolutely necessary for him to be valuable. That doesn't even sound like a useable ST player...

    Soft.. I miss Michael Jordan

When will insulting MJ become a bannable offense? I finally figured it out: Kobe is the new Earl Monroe. An amazing talent, amazing shots, but as dysfunctional in a father-figure-less team as Homer Simpson is in his 'family'. With the Knicks he had Bradley, the rightful President, plus...

How did RG do in this draft?

I agree with a lot of this. I'm reluctant to give Graves, with his past record, a lot of credit. Team, with individual inputs unknown, yes. I'd say a B. I'd agree with you fully on Brown. Branch, while often rated top-10, is a question mark, and I wish I had definitive info about...

Stay A Breaston Of Saint Patrick

Gil Brandt on NFL.com says that he seems to have trouble wrapping, maybe because of short arms. Another thought--I would think he'd be best in the middle to avoid needing to cover big tight ends--?

    Not Signing LD

I think we're better off with Brown even by the middle of this year if, as many accounts say, he's athletic and nimble-footed enough to handle speed rushers adequately. LD just wasn't--that's why he jumped so often. We'd better get used to this kind of problem--good (?) players finishing up...

A Quick Assessment of Day One

My impression from a number of profiles is that Brown's footwork is much better than LD's. He will be at least OK in protection against speed rushers. So I think Harry is too pessimistic. Also, the better we are at running, and the more we can thereby pass unexpectedly rather than...

    Steve Breaston in the 5th

For what it's worth, TE Joe Newton was still on the board, lauded as a blocker, not too bad as a safety valve. I'm too blah to have the energy to be divided about this pick. It's true our return game has been [avoiding 'pedestrian'] ambulatory--there's a good word. If Breaston gets it off the...

    Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread

Not an exciting pick. It doesn't sound like he's the surest-handed receiver--a clone of our current crop. Wish we had Josh Gattis instead. Or Joe Newton--I think he's still on the board, and lauded as a blocker.

Am I the only person very happy with this draft?

After reading all these comments, I've moved from being slightly happy with this draft so far to being pretty darn happy. I was bummed out by not getting Thomas. He could've started the first game, while I'm not sure Brown will be ready. I was expecting to have the LB problem solved with Pick...

    Video/Audio: Whisenhunt/Graves Day One Wrap

The questioners certainly served up softballs. None about Watson and Clancy, none about Brown vs. LD, and they let Graves get away with saying they might play Branch as a 3-4 end....
