44 Million dollar cap...how do we spend it?

By my calculations Phoenix currently has tied up $37.0098 in total salaries for next year. This number will change once we find out the ruling on Nagy's arbitration hearing.

    Down on the farm

While it is far from a lost cause this is about what I expected with Anderson. He is set to play at Oklahoma State where his dad is a coach. When the D'backs drafted him they knew that (like Max) it would take some time and effort to get him signed. I highly doubt that Brett turns down...

    NHL offseason & Coyotes rumors

Since there hasn't been much to talk about lately, I wish to get everyone's opinion on Bill Thomas. Does he have a future with the team? Where do you see him playing this season? How productive of a year do you expect him to have?

    Trade Green?

Gonzo has a club option that the Dbacks can either pick up or allow him to become a free agent. He has said that the only way he would wave his no-trade clause was if the team he would be traded to would pick up his option. That little peice of information has all but destroyed any chance that...

    Trade Green?

They will not pick up Gonzo's option for next year. However, that only creates a roster spot for Q. If they get rid of Green, then they can place Young in CF and Byrnes in LF. He is as good as gone.

    Cojack Strikes Again

Brian Barden has had a strikeout to walk ratio of 3.46:1 in his minor league career (a career OBP of .350) with a .302 BA). Let me put it this way, Scott Hairston has more walks (37) in 69 games this year than Barden (34) in 99 games. He has below-average power, plate discipline, and speed...

    NHL offseason & Coyotes rumors

I am slowly starting to get this feeling that the Coyotes are going to just go to arbitration with Nagy then lose him after next year and possibly trade away Comrie either before or after his arb hearing.

    Down on the farm

Here is a scouting report on him. Other reports have him as a talented defensive player at second base, but state that he can play other positions and might be a 'super' utility player. With that said, I think I would rather sign Hudson long term and then package Callapso with another...

    Cojack Strikes Again

I believe in college he played 3rd and LF, but since he could not defensively cut it at either of those positions in the minors they eventually moved him to 1st. So he has only been playing this position for a year and a half, thus still makes mistakes.

    Cojack Strikes Again

He is not a natural 1st baseman and it does show in the games. However, if you watch him from the beginning of the season to now he has greatly improved (although he only had one way to go). Just give him more time to continue to improve.

    Dbacks vs. Dodgers series thread

Yeah, but I still hope they would cut down a little bit on his total innings. Oh and if Drew keeps on playing defense like this he should take over the full time SS duties.

    Dbacks vs. Dodgers series thread

Something that concerns me is the amount of innings that Webb is pitching. I know he doesn't throw too hard but this might begin to take a toll on his arm.

    Vazquez on the block again?

I have always thought Vazquez is overrated, even prior to his stint with the D'backs. He is not a front line pitcher because he is so inconsistent yet he makes money like he is a #1 pitcher. The Mets would benefit if they got either of them, but I cannot see them giving up too much to get...

    D'backs interested in Westbrook

LOL and I just read that Indian fans wanted Q/Young, Montero, and a pitching prospect for Westbrook. Maybe his 3 2/3 innings last night while giving up 12 hits and 7 runs (5 earned) would place them back in reality.

    D'backs interested in Westbrook

I do not think that this club will be keeping Byrnes unless we can deal both Green and Gonzalez. My logic behind this is that Young will be ready to take over CF next year and Q will be in RF. If we are able to unload Green then maybe we could resign Byrnes to be our LF but I still do not know...

    2006 Dbacks Draft Thread

I would not put too much stock into what he said above. More than likely this is just a typical Boras stance on money. He knows that Scherzer was not the big arm of the draft but he still wants a boat load of cash to make up his 10%. We knew this when we have drafted previous Boras clients...

    D'backs interested in Westbrook

I could definately see a Hairston, Mock, Cruz/Enrq Gonzalez trade for Westbrook. I think that would be about an even deal. Indians get a pretty decent pitching prospect in AA, a filler starting pitcher to take Westbrook's place and Hairston who could mash in their line-up while filling in at...
