How anyone could not dislike J.R. Smith if they dislike Kobe is beyond me...that dude is a quarter as talented and more cocky.

Kobe did meltdown, as Kobe tends to do. He got pissed off, got this look like "f everyone this is my game" and then started missing some horrible shots and wouldn't pass. He did his little flail his arms in the air when Odom shot instead of giving him the ball. When Kobe does this, the Lakers always lose.

Second, don't dislike JR Smith because he's cocky. Dislike JR Smith because he ran a stop sign, hit another car which killed his passenger.

Kenyon Martin is a turd.

The rest of the guys on that team are pretty likable.

The Lakers are not likable, Odom is ok, Gasol is cool, but doesn't count because he shouldn't be on the Lakers.

It must be nice to be JR smith. Aside from being a rich athlete with an incredible amount of talent, that is. If he plays well like he did tonight, the Nuggets are almost unbeatable because he really has top 5 SG talent, it's just a matter of consistency and keeping his head square on his shoulders. If he doesn't play well, Coach still lets him shoot and the rest of the team is good enough to win most games anyway.

The Lakers have a recipe for disaster on their hands right now. Even though they have the home court advantage in what has now become a three game series, the "make Kobe do all of the work" plan, which is the goal for all teams, is in full effect. Kobe has taken 98 shots in this series, which is 58 more than the next guy (Gasol). Pau has a higher FG% and is going up against an allegedly weak defensive front line. If the Lakers' plan is to continue to make Kobe the centerpiece of the offense, they will lose. They are not talented enough on the defensive side of the ball to overcome an offensive slump like the one they had tonight.

Neither team is likable for many reasons. There is the thug persona that the Nuggets have adopted, although a large portion went away when they traded A.I. for some real leadership (Billups).

Lakers are one of the most hated franchises in pro sports. Much of it is the fans and their arrogance. They drive you nuts when they are winning, and they drive you nuts when they are losing. They are loyal, but always have to be in the spotlight.

Similar narcissistic traits are found in Kobe, who has been accused of trying to be in the center of attention at all times and being excessively arrogant. Also, Phil Jackson comes off very crass and very impersonal during interviews that you think he is going to jump through the TV and choke you to death.

I guess I can clear up this argument pretty quick. When was the last time you heard about an NBA player testing positive for drugs? That's about the only truth I need on the subject
This can be taken two ways:

1) The NBA doesn't really do any drug testing, therefore no one testing positive,

or

2) The players aren't doing drugs, therefore no one testing positive.

Which did you mean? I'm guessing 1), but to be honest, I'm really not sure.

Well, I could give you personal sources if you want. Guys I went to school with who either played or play in the NBA, people who work at hotels, clubs, and restaurants that NBA players frequent, friends who have had personal history with NBA players, etc.

But I'll just let NBA veterans like Josh Howard or Charles Oakley confirm what I just said. Or the countless polls done by media outles in the last several years.

By the way, I looked it up. In the latest CBA, there are 4 random tests throughout the season. If a player tests positive, it is not public knowledge until their 3rd infraction which they are suspended 5 games.

Also, Charles Oakley offered zero proof of his claim. He guessed an estimate. Howard said he smoked a little in the off season, but even if there wasn't random testing, he didn't think he would choose to do so during the season.

One of the main reasons I ask you for proof rather than speculation is because I knew a few NBA players, one whom got in trouble for pot. He was automatically random tested for the next several years. This was prior to the latest CBA and during the time Oakley made his accusation when players were only tested once during preseason and random if they got busted. If drug use were as rampant as you claim, out of over 400 players, we should see at least 1 or 2 suspensions... yet nothing. As I said, believe what you want obviously. I just find it reckless to make claims as you did based on nothing but speculation... and read up on the latest CBA before you accuse others of having a "lack of knowledge". I don't think 4 random tests a season equates to the league not caring about pot.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the dates of the "random" tests are leaked far enough in advance for players to lay off the marijuana and let the evidence flush out of their systems. That's just the sort of thing this league would do.

though i love watching the lakers lose, i am growing to really dislike this nuggets team. martin is a thug and somehow gets away with murder on picks and pushing and pulling. nene has begun adopting some of martin's tactics as well. dahntay jones should be suspended. i've long thought he was dirty before this series and his push/trips only further confirm it. even melo is a bit of a thug, but he's more likable than the rest. jr smith, i'm okay with the cockiness. it is nowhere NEAR the level of kobe's arrogance yet. and i just love watching the lakers bitch. my god, they bitch as much as the spurs. and it's all of them. even walton was crying nonstop at every play. the only who doesn't seem to cry is odom, but i'm not even sure he's cognizant that there's a series going on . . .

The NBA tests randomly. As in you'll randomly get a call and the league will say you have two weeks to take the urine test at which point your agent, team doctor, entourage member, or whoever can get you masking agents. Same goes for the NFL. It's almost impossible to get caught unless you're extremely stupid.

if other players got up in the officials faces and complained as much as Kobe they would be T'd up repeatedly its insane how much this baby gets away with! He is an incredible talent but he gets much help by the officials and the fact he shoots so many FT's without getting fouled half the time. Screw the Lakers and their entitled attitude that they should just get every call and win every game. I like that the Nuggets are punking their soft asses around instead of just laying down and letting them do what they want! The Lakers are what the Suns were a few years ago... a great talented team thats soft and not as playoff caliber as they think, gotta have a little toughness!

Again, just read the CBA. According to it, it's a 24 hour notice.

No player in either series has come close to emulating the level of thugery displayed for years by Bruce Bowen. Get over it. This is what David Stern wants.

From the article:

Karl said the league is toeing a thin line, however, by imposing a foul that wasn't whistled in the game.

"I don't think the precedent is good. If Bennett Salvatore saw that play would he have called a flagrant? I think he would have called a foul, but I don't think he would have called a flagrant," Karl said. "I think the mood of the game is being overridden by the mood of the office. I'm not sure that's the right precedent."

Interesting.

Yeah, I think the "thug" aspect to the Nuggets is being overblown. It's not like they are Pat Riley's Knicks teams. If they don't play the Lakers physical, they'll lose.

It wasn't even called in the game its kinda crap they come back and review it and make it a flagrant. Don't think they come back and review all of Kobes' elbows and issue him flagrants and their are LOTS of them! Screw the crybaby Lakers they need to man up and play ball and stop whining or they are quickly going to out of the playoffs.

That is what Spursfan said about the Suns.

Just saying.

And Spursfan was right if the team wasn't so busy bitching and complaining and feeling screwed over, they could have been focused and beat them with their TALENT! The Nugz are playing with much more heart than the Lakers and right now deserve to be winning unlike the Lakers who feel entitled to every call because thats what they are used to getting! Which actually a little different as the Suns never/rarely get all the calls like the Lakers at home.

I expect Phil Jackson to get this team refocused and my first post in this thread to be spot on.

^Highly doubt a team that has been this jekle and hyde is all of a sudden just going to start dominating sorry they could easily be down 3-1 if not for some home cookin'. PJ is not playing and isn't going to change much he has to rely on Kobe and the home cookin calls to help them win this series, hopefully Denver has none of that and takes them down like the inconsistant bunch of whiners they are!
