Because nobody in their right mind thinks he'll be a bust - with a game like his he just can't be! But if you want to stick to your douche comment (douche because you imply you know better than everyone) I'll bet you a dollar amount of your choosing if I'm wrong, payable after 5 years.

And in saying that, it reminds me of my draft power ranking competition from last year (that flopped due to lack of interest..maybe I explained it badly..)

Really, nobody? That's a trumpian comment.

And I never said he will be a bust, I personally dont want a point guard unless he is a steph curry or westbrook level. If he is a damian lillard level, there's already 7-8 point guards in that category, including bledsoe at the tail end of that group.

I'd just like to take a second to point out that I was the ONLY person in that entire competition to pick Tyler Ulis as my top 2nd round player BEFORE the Suns drafted him!

I'd also like to conveniently ignore the fact that this was because I was one of only two or three people to make picks at all as well as the reality that my picks look mediocre at best one year later!

Minor exaggeration but you get my drift.

There's every chance Ball IS elite with his ability to elevate those around him and with Booker and Chriss on the roster, that's surely exactly what we need...Fun, fast paced ball that wins.

Again, I don't know if I'd pick him at #1 - that's probably Fultz - which is why I want the #2.

Ha, just bumped the thread and was trying to remember who was the sole participant other than me (the entire competition may just be a little overstating things !)

You know when you get the #1 pick you get to draft who YOUwant and don't have to draft who the internet tells you is #1, right? Your argument is ludicrous.

1/2 game back of the Lakers! Got a 5 game lead over Orlando. So far so good.

Or badly worded - I should have said almost rather the 2nd pick (assuming fultz goes first) as it becomes a decision free decision to take Ball at 2.

Have mentioned this a couple times in previous threads already.

It's all about the Lakers now. They better be watching their rear view mirror...A lot!

We have 8 games left, the Lakers have 9 games left. As they say in soccer, they have a game in hand on us.

I was just on realgm Lakers board tank thread and they are in full panic over the suns. Many are convinced we are going to pass them up because we have the more favorable schedule for tanking. Plus they think by us benching Bledsoe we are the worst team in the league... They might be right... on all counts!

We are without Bledsoe, Knight, Chandler, Bender. Booker, Warren, Barbosa, Price are all hobbled.

Based on the last 5 games we are not going to pick up another win.

The Lakers pick is a kind of a lose-lose situation.

I don't want the Lakers to pick top 3 but I also don't want Philly to have #4/5 + #6/7.

The Lakers are division rivals and in the west...Philly isn't.

We will regret those 2 Booker buzzer beater game winners and the Ulis buzzer beater game winner.

Brooklyn is 5-5 over the last 10 and their schedule is 2x Philly, 2x Orlando, Detroit, Atlanta. Those are all winnable games for them right now. Atlanta lost 7 straight, they are a threat to lose to us today.

Winnable games left

Suns:
@Atlanta
@Portland
Dallas
@Sacramento

Three of the Suns "easy" games are on the road.

Lakers
@Minnesota
Sacramento
New Orleans
Minnesota
@Golden State (assuming that Golden State rests all starters in the season finale)

Three of the Lakers "easy" games are at home.

Brooklyn:
Philly
@Detroit
Orlando
Atlanta
@Philly
@Orlando
Chicago
@Chicago

Chicago might very well be tanking hard in the last 3 games of the season.

The only hard game that Brooklyn has left on schedule is @Boston in the 2nd last game of the season.

Good analysis.

We have the more favorable schedule than the Lakers and we're tanking harder. You listed the guys we have out earlier and it's more substantial than what they're doing. We very well could have the worst starting lineup in the league as we speak. I think we have a very good chance at a minimum of tying their record.

About Brooklyn...They still have a very big lead and even though thier schedule is super soft they are always the worst team on the floor. They are always the underdog.

If the Lakers keep their pick tihs year, they owe a completely unprotected next year and I don't see the Lakers as likely to get any better next season.

Yeah but still...Its hard to be equally that bad next season. I mean they have the second worst record right now. That's hard to top. Next year they might only be top five kind of bad. Also, if they don't cash in this year that puts them a year further behind us in development... They'll always be playing catch-up for the foreseeable future. If they cash in now and get a top three pick they 'might' achieve some sort of parody although we are still further along.

Not with Lin playing, they are actually 5-5 over the last 10 and have no reason to tank. I don't think they are the underdog against Philly and Orlando.

They are probably not going 6-4 although it is possible and would tie us if we lose out. But I think they will finish with 20 wins.

Ok they might not be underdogs with Orlando and Philly but it could be a coin flip situation. All the nets have to do is lose one of them to put the hurt on us and the Lakers. They already have five more losses than us and we have only eight games left. That's like mission impossible.

I read somewhere the other day that besides the last draft, drafts over the past 6 years has fared better for teams with the 3rd worst record than the teams with the 2nd worst records.

I didn't actually go through and check it season by season but its definitely interesting if true. Maybe we're better off staying at #3?

that argument is total bogus, even if very limited evidence suggest that the conclusion that it is better to draft at #3 than at #1 is always wrong.

The Sacramento game may not be as easy. They have seemingly started hustling more and have upset some good teams once Cousins left.
