I read somewhere the other day that besides the last draft, drafts over the past 6 years has fared better for teams with the 3rd worst record than the teams with the 2nd worst records.
I didn't actually go through and check it season by season but its definitely interesting if true. Maybe we're better off staying at #3?
I am not sure whether you are saying that teams with the 3rd worst record historically in the lottery than teams with the second worst record, or whether its better to draft at three than at one.
If its the first, odds are odds. Historical data doesn't change the odds.
If its the second, I would maintain that teams that end up with the number 1 pick are often very bad teams that have mediocre management and feel the pressure to hit a home run with the first pick. Thus they overthink it and blow it.
