Not trying to rain on your parade.
That's a great job, Jersey Girl. You jinxed the Philly parade (of runs) in game 3.

Of course, after spending the first thirty-seven years of my life in NJ, I know that it rains every week as the weekend approaches. You could count on it. :)

Well, advantage Arizona on the rain delay, I think. Kennedy's gone, but so is Worley. D-Backs have a better chance against Herndon one would think.

This is going to screw the Dbacks for this game and next series, I am afraid. No days off, late game, then flight.

Reverse mojo is definitely not working on Kelly. He's not even looking at the dang ball. :(

Sure hope he breaks out of this funk sooooon. He did just make a nice play on that wet field though.

I'm somewhat confused as to our batting order every night.

Roberts
Parra
Upton
Montero
Goldschmidt/CY
CY/Goldschmidt
Johnson
Bloomquist

In that order. Seems we don't really pay attention to OBP in front of our power guys.

Young now down to .236. Johnson down to .208. Roberts, Blomquist and Parra all seem lost at the plate. Upton in a slump after going 1 for 12 in this Philly series.
Once again, all of the pressure being placed on the shoulders of our pitchers. They need to be perfect, or else...

Fortunately, the Giants continue to stink it up as well. If only.... If only we had even minimally decent production from CF and 2b. We would run away with this division... :bang:

What's the D-Backs ERA against non-NL West opponents? I bet it's frightful.

I'm not going to sweat this series though. Went to Philly and didn't get swept. That was Job No. 1, IMO.

If I did my math right, the D-Backs team ERA against non-West NL teams is 3.975. That's actually pretty good. Even better, the D-Backs have scored 308 runs vs. 292 against in those games.

If the playoffs started today, here's how the D-Backs have fared so far against those teams:

Philadelphia: 3-3, 21 runs scored, 28 runs surrendered
Milwaukee: 4-3, 28 runs scored, 28 runs surrendered
Atlanta: 2-0, 7 runs scored, 5 runs surrendered

Ugghhh... our offense has left us. Young with another droopy pop-up to short. Ironically, Johnson has 2 of our 3 hits tonight. What's that, like 8 hits or something over our last 3 games?? Putrid...

Overbay with the Golden Sombrero.
I was really surprised that Gibby didn't pinch-hit Goldschmidt for Overbay.

Not so much because of his three preceding strikeouts (followed by his fourth), but because a lefty was pitching.

Gibby had just pinch-hit Cowgill for Parra in a similar situation. Very inconstent. The inconsistency is the part that is difficult to understand.

I didn't hear the matchup numbers, but I'm guessing Overbay had a favorable history with the pitcher. That's usually the only reason a manager doesn't pinch hit in that situation.

SF lost 6-0 to Houston. Didnt expect that, but very thankful those lowly Astros are helping us out

Gibby and his staff need to find that secret switch to get these guys hitting again. The Philly series killed us and it's carried over into Atlanta now.

We look deflated, I noticed it last night before the rain delay. I'm hoping its just in my head but dont they look flat the last two games? I hope we're not one of those teams that doesn't know what to do once you're on top.

I keep flipping back and forth from the Cardinal game and it was just like "BLAH I cant even watch this, cmon guys wake up, we're still in first place!"

Hopefully it's just a little lull, like you said 82, Gibby needs to find a spark. The rook is pitching tomorrow right? Maybe he'll come in and be lights out and get everyone fired up again.

They have actually looked flat since the first Philly game. We won that game only because of Overbay - nobody hit in that game except him. And since then, the entire team has fallen into a slump (except Goldy). CY is now down to .234. At what point cna we say he is HORRIBLE and is huring us? Parra, Roberts and Blomquist are all slumping.
Our K's have outnumbered our hits in each of the last 4 games.

It didn't help that they arrived in Atlanta at about 5 AM, following the rain-delayed night game in Philly, and got a just a few hours sleep.

Prior to that, Philly pitching is Philly pitching. I have no problem with the D'backs taking one-out-of-three from them on the road.

If we look flat tonight, then there is a problem.

Obviously, the Giants are hurting. The motivation should be not wanting to be embarassed by a first-round sweep in the post-season. As opposed to taking each game and each series as it comes and doing our best.
