Any questions about QB John Skelton challenging him for the starting spot were put to rest today...along with any flickering playoff hopes. Skelton is a nice #2 QB with some upside. Nothing more. Lets hope to see Bartel soon or this game gets even uglier.

2012 Starting QB Kevin Kolb!

Thanks for making me feel worse. We're in a world of hurt at QB for at least 2-3 years.

calm down Ductkjake, if we can get fix the OL the QB and RB will show tremendous improvement. We have to get a new LT, hopefully a RT and maybe a guard. A healthy Ryan Williams will also help. I am extremely hopefully for next year being really successful.

You should have put "Starting QB for 40% of 2012" to account for time missed for injuries and terrible play.

You just have to poop on every single thread huh?

Ive been holding back the last few weeks. But the ending to that game has me feeling rather snarky. Sorry.

But seriously. Skelton's failures today by no means makes next seasons QB situation look brighter. The reality is the Cards dont have a capable, consistent QB on the roster.

Skelton is inconsistent and bad more often than not, Kolb is occasionally average, typically bad and frequently injured.

During the last 2 years Kolb's teams are 4-10 when Kolb takes the field and 13-4 when he doesnt. Until he proves otherwise the only assumptions that can be made about Kolb is that he is a crappy player.

Thanks for those stats. That's what I'm talking about. If he plays he's average but mostly he sits. Skelton didn't ask to play this early. We had nobody else so he just showed up. And along the way got a lot of NFL experience. I'm pretty sure he'll start next week too. If not we can compare the two. No excuses.

Give Skelton an offseason and some game plan where the game doesn't all fall on his shoulders. In the 4th quarter he was 15-25 204 yards and almost 3 TDs. We didn't even attempt to have a running game today either...I think he will be a good QB but is going to need the offseason badly. He almost brought us back from the dead but Doucet fell, which is crazy....i'm so bummed but I think we keep developing Skelton and get a real OC.

The way they described Kolb's symptoms today has to be a major concern for everyone involved. Two weeks later and he's still struggling to think straight? Not good. At ALL.

BTW, the announcers mentioned that Kolb said he is still having trouble putting together coherent thoughts... real scary and not good at all. Another hit to the head and this guy may be done playing football.

Had the offensive line given Skelton SOME blocking the first half he would have done much better. Roberts dropped at least 2 long gainers, and Doucet should be ashamed of his last try. I would draft the USC offensive tackle first, and another second. Then look at other needs.

How about using a platoon system of quarterbacking with Skelton coming in for the 4th quarter? :p

Why do people keep saying this? I think he has some huge defecencies that need to be resolved. If he can overcome his accuracy problem and learns how to read the D, he's a quality starter and if he can't fix them he doesn't belong in the NFL. He has no more business being a backup QB than Derek Anderson does. And if he fails to improve and ends up as a #2 quarterback than it will be something other than "nice". JMO.

Prior to today's game, Skelton had back-to-back games with over 60% completion percentage. So for an inaccurate QB, he can be accurate. As ofr reading NFL defenses its often difficult when you have the worst pass blocking Oline in football and oh yeah, he's a young QB from FORDHAM (not exactly a member of the SEC).

I will not excuse some of Skelton's mistakes - those are on him often trying to force things that aren't there. However some of the problems come from the rest of the personnel (Oline), some questionable playcalling (we pass to set up the pass), and just a young QB developing.

Some people on here are extremely UNREALISTIC when it comes to the play of young QBs.

Am I saying Skelton is the QBOTF? No but with the myriad of problems with this offense its tough to judge his play.

I still have hope for him, I just don't agree with all those people that keep saying he's only fit to be a career backup. As I said, if he can solve a couple of problems I think he'll be a very effective NFL starter. He has the size, mobility, arm strength and, for the most part, pocket presence you want in a starting QB and those aren't qualities you usually find in a backup. If he can't learn to read coverages and improve his accuracy he's not fit for the NFL and if he can, he's too talented to be wasted as a backup.

Glad to see nothing has changed for the Cardinals. Somebody has been posting the exact same things every year but 2 since the Cards moved to Arizona.

Only the names are changed to protect the guilty.

No problem, only have to fix the entire offense to show improvement. You gotta love the Cardinals fans. :bang:

Hearing on the game about the lingering effects from the concussion, and he probably had one early in the season that they were hiding, plus the one that knocked him out of the opener for the eagles, I'm getting the feeling he's a concussion prone QB (one so early rang a bell, this one should be an alarm clock), and that he won't be our starter for long. I don't want him to fail or anything, just concussions are one of those things, that either happen or don't. If they happen, they tend to repeat unless it was just a vicious one time hit. I can't say either of his were vicious one time hits, even if the back of the head is fluke-y, it didn't appear so bad that he'd still be feeling it and not able to string sentences together weeks later.

At this rate he'll have another by week 3 or 4 of 2012. Still probably needs to get another one in the first few games next year to put the concussion risk label on him, but it may behoove the cardinals to get out of the contract....probably after next year if this continues.

No way Kolb starts the final game. Which is good, because if Kolb is a concussion risk, we really need Skelton to get more time THIS year.

I just don't know what to make of Skelton. The guy can look so good at times and so bad at times. And do it on consecutive plays. There's alot to work with in regards to Skelton. I think he improved reading defenses over the course of the year and definitely has the arm and makeup to be a starting QB. But, I'm one who thinks either you are an accurate passer, or you aren't. I don't think accuracy can be coached. Footwork and mechanics can all be worked on and improved but, in the end, you either have it, or you don't, when it comes to accuracy. I think it comes down to, can the Cards live with the 5-10 bad throws Skelton is going to make throughout a game to go along with the good throws he's also going to make.

The concerning thing is his recovery time from what seemed like a minor blow to the head. Considering his mediocre 2011 performance and the concussion history, we better pray John Skelton dramatically improves his accuracy, learns how to read blitzes and adjust, and loses his Jeckyl and Hyde performances.

I didn't like the high price we paid for KK at the time and with the lousy offensive line the Cardinals have in place, I really don't like his long-term prospects as a Cardinal.
