I'd be shocked if Rose gets a big contract this offseason and this latest situation basically ensured that no one will break the bank to bring him in. He's a shell of his former MVP self and he's became a bit of a headcase. Some of things he's said and done in NY are questionable at best. He was talking the team up like it was a superteam on the same level as GS, Cleveland, and Miami years ago. He's also said he wouldn't play like he did in his MVP days if he could because he was too reckless but his game now is much more refined. He thinks he's playing better now than 5 years ago, which shows he's a bit delusional.

I am not liking the Hawks throwback uniforms. Look to much like the Buck's Uniforms.

Hinkie got boned, hard.

How so? Didn't he just throw a tantrum and quit on his own? He alienated everyone he dealt with in this business and that's a bad way to go. And while it's easy to say that Philly would look the same this season if Hinkie had remained in charge, it isn't cast in stone. He's a very smart guy in a very limited way and IMO was always a stupid hire.

Embiid is incredible but I'd still hate to build my franchise around him. Let's see if he continues to be a factor 7 years from now. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see that back take him out of the game in a few years. They were a borderline playoff team when Hinkie dismantled that roster and here they are looking like a possible borderline playoff team once again. And if they lose the oft-injured Joel, where will they be?

Yes he dismantled a playoff team in the east that had zero upside. Now they have multiple assets and a very bright future. Not to mention two more possibly top-7ish picks in a very strong draft plus Ben Simmons.

I don't know if Embiid will stay healthy but they played it the right way sitting him out and putting him on a minutes restriction this year. If he does stay healthy his ceiling doesn't have a ceiling.

This can't be serious. Other than KAT, Giannis and Davis (who is also very injury prone), there's not another young player in the league who is better to have to build around than this kid.

The comparisons for him is Tim Duncan but with long range shooting ability.

Once Embiid and Simmons hit their prime, that team will be much stronger than just a borderline playoff team.

I have no problem with the decision to tank for Philly, I have an issue with the way Hinkie did it. He sold his assets for pennies on the dollar and then he ignored every medical evaluation in hopes of finding gold with Noel and Embiid. Maybe he found it in Embiid, there's no doubt he's special, but I'd hate to have my team's future dependent on him.

And they didn't really have him sit out, he re-broke the same foot even after they'd put in a couple of screws. They had no choice. On top of that he has the spinal issue. Without Embiid, this team has a worse future than the one Hinkie dismantled IMO.

The two picks have a lot of value but I'm not much of a fan of Simmons, we'll have to see what he becomes. We were in much worse shape than Philadelphia when we started our rebuild (following the Scola season) and I'd rather have our assets than what they have unless Embiid has a fairly healthy career and even then I don't give them much of an advantage.

I like Saric, I like the possibility of their 2 picks this season but I don't like their future. Low value picks in Okafor and Noel, neither likely to bring much of a return.

I'd instantly change my position though if they got smart there and found a team that would give them superstar value in an Embiid deal. If for example, LA gave them Ingram and 3 firsts or something like that, they could then re-sign Noel and take their time finding buyers for Okafor and Nerlens. In which case, I'd consider their future pretty bright.

Embiid has it all, a healthy Joel Embiid would dominate this league for many years to come. I just don't think there's much of a chance that he'll stay healthy. No, I'm not a doctor but a big man with a recurring bone problem in his foot AND a back problem? No thanks, I don't care how good he is.

That's something that is either ignored or forgotten about Embiid, his back problems. It was his foot injuries and surgeries that caused him to miss his first two years but his back was the first red flag that caused him to slip in that draft when he was originally considered as the best talent in the 2014 draft and surefire #1 overall pick before he had the stress fracture in his back. Not only was he considered the best player in that draft before his injury he was projected a better pick than Wiggins or Parker who went #1 & #2. I think he would have slipped further if Philly didn't take the chance on him, similar to how Noel did in what was a very weak draft. The 2014 draft was much deeper with much better talent than the 2013 draft.

I'm surprised he's been as healthy this year as he has but the Sixers are monitoring his minutes very closely. Having 2 stress fractures in the same foot is troublesome enough but throw in the previous stress fracture in his back and I'd be worried if he's one of the key pieces you're planning on building around for the future. I wonder if your idea of them trading him might be why they haven't moved either Noel or Okafor because surely Embiid would bring the most back in return. If he can stay healthy all season, win rookie of the year, and be an all star then his value will be higher than it's ever been, even having more value than the #3 pick that was used in the 2014 to select him. I don't know if they could make a trade like you suggested with LA but I could see them getting an established All Star or rookie with high potential and a few picks.

It should be interesting if Hood is available against the Suns.

Tribune sources: Rodney Hood underwent an MRI this morning and has been diagnosed with a bone bruise. No other structural damage

The Suns need all the help they can get playing the Jazz who they play again on Monday. They are a tough match-up for the Suns with Gobert's ability guard the lane on defense.

This would be a another huge step forward if the Suns can beat the Jazz.
