And if you get a chance to go then definitely do - is easy to see why it regularly gets voted the single best city in the world to live in (with honourable mentions to the vienna's, oslo's, zurich's and vancouver's of the world)....it is seriously slick.

You need to talk to Knight and tell him then because he himself has gone on record saying that he's a PG and that he would rather be a true PG of the team rather than having to split PG duties with Bledsoe.

His ego is bigger than his actual game.

And even with the rising cap, $15M/yr for another 5 years coming off the bench is insane.

I agree with this part. He is a two, not a three, no matter what he says.

Melbourne's a weird one as it's right on the border of two distinct weather patterns; a hot desert one from the north and frozen Antarctic one from the south. Never has the saying 4 seasons in one day been more appropriate. I was there last year and left the house in the morning in 6 degree sideways rain / sleet to finding myself in a pub later that day stripping down to a t-shirt cause it was over 30degs.

But it's generally a mild climate - not that cold in winter compared to Europe and only the occasional bout of 'extreme' heat to deal with in summer (where the average high temperature is about 26degs only).

Of course with climate change, these bouts are becoming more frequent, and your relatives aren't wrong; they can be unbearably hot.

Yeah my mom used to tell me that if they had landed in Melbourne and not Perth I probably would not have existed. Her dad, her and her brother left England and landed in Perth. It was so hot there that she and her dad moved on to New Zealand where she met my dad and came over to the US. Her brother stayed in perth I still have cousins there.

Perth is ridiculously hot, we didn't go there when I was in Australia we were in Melbourne for like 3 days to see family. really nice place.

Yep my best Melbourne story. We flew to Melbourne from Sydney but we were taking an 18 hour train ride back so we booked a hotel near the train station.

My uncle that lives there took us around then dropped us off and basically said follow that river(the Yarra) and you'll find your hotel easily. We tried to take a shortcut because it was hot and got lost. That night we met him for dinner and he laughed at how we could have gotten lost as big as the Yarra is.

When he dropped us off we remarked about the cool brick building across the street visible from our hotel and he said "yes, that's a prison." And it was, we had not figured that out despite staying right across the street.

We couldn't help but wonder why they have a prison that close to the train station(and a large mall) you'd think if there is ever a prison riot that could be a bad thing.

Great city for weather, food and football but Spain is still struggling big time post financial crisis meaning infrastructure isn't great, crime is high, so too unemployment. The rankings generally try to be as metric as possible so these things all count. (Mercer's survey might carry more weight these days and Vienna, Austria is number 1 there - has been for 6 straight years - but I've tended to focus on the Economist one. And so do the Aussies surprise surprise).

I've been all over Austria, Switzerland and West Germany but other than that I've seen nothing of the world outside North America. But if I were given a choice of where to live I think I'd choose Singapore. I am in awe of that place.

More of the world than most! Love London and wouldn't change it for anywhere right now, just don't get me started on the weather, rush hour commute, and cost of living ... Total nightmare.

And I think the jail near the train station is gone, might be wrong though, but with Oz being the world's biggest jail at one stage it's no surprise it was there in the first place!

The Austrians do it well. If I could transplant friends family and work / business anywhere - and the language - there would be at least a dozen better places in Europe than London.

not even close

Well, having been to Vienna several times, I would have a hard time putting in the top tier -- and this is coming from a classical musician. It feels industrial and kind of narrow in character, even though it's a character I happen to be quite fond of.

It was a brick building looked nothing like jails here in the US.

My favorite European city was Paris which, I'm sure, most of you would disagree with. I love its ambiance so much, I stay at the Paris Las Vegas hotel every year (with a room overlooking its Eiffel Tower, the Fountains of Bellagio, the Strip and eating the Bacchanal buffet at its sister hotel, Caesars Palace -- also a beautiful themed hotel).

I also enjoyed Vienna and the drive to Salzburg and Innsbruck. Leaving the autobahn for a spell to drive the mountain and lake roads was spectacular.

These "quality of life" city rankings take a lot of things into account like public transportation, polution and so on and so on..

I don't think it can be judged off of vacation.

So with Simmons declaring hiring an agent and withdrawing from school it does make me suspect the rumors were true he was one way or another already ineligible and that's why LSU declined postseason.

Not confirmed yet but apparently he pulled a Kevin Love and didn't withdraw from classes correctly so he'll hurt LSU's APR too.

I don't know if NBA teams care about that stuff the Love draft had both Kevin going very high after bolting UCLA without properly withdrawing, and OJ Mayo going high with all the baggage he had.

I suspect what will hurt Simmons is spotty play down the stretch more than the idea that he appeared to be quite selfish in how he handled the academic portion of his 7 months at LSU.

Its the poor production of his team, and especially his disinterest in defensive play, that will hurt him. Teams will have to determine if that is who he is or whether it was the situation that he was in.

If you have the top pick, it would be a tough choice between Ingram and Simmons. If you have the #2 pick and Simmons is there, you have to take him, risks and all.
