Darnold is still the best option out there for me. I don't believe much in the coaching staff at USC, and believe the team and Darnold's success is despite them. I would rather have a QB who takes risks and has to dial it back vs asking a passive QB to take more risks.

I can't determine where I stand on the trio of Lamar Jackson, Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield.

I really worry about Mayfield's size. Yes, there are guys in the NFL who are successful with similar size. In my view, they are the exceptions, not the rule. In terms of his arm strength, it passes the eye test in a clean pocket, but I haven't seen a play where the pocket is muddy, and he is still driving it down the field. I'm not saying it isn't out there, but I haven't seen it if it is. He seems like a legit leader which is important. I don't know how much of a grinder he is. I like that he is aggressive, and is mobile.

Rosen is very polished coming out which I like. His frame reminds of of Goff in terms of being very lean. I don't love that. He seems to have the requisite physical tools. I don't know about his personality. He reminds me a bit of Cutler in how he talks.

I can see the strides Lamar Jackson has made in a year, and I like them. The one worry I have about him is the same worry I had about Marcus Mariota. He is big, but not real big. They are both athletic, but worked to be a better pocket QB. However, like Mariota, I don't know that Jackson can change as much as he needs to. I like his attitude, and physical skills.

I like Josh Allen more than most on this board. I like his physical tools. I understand the concerns. I wonder how good the coaching is up in Wyoming, and I view his year last year as a better barometer for what he will look like in the Pros. The gap is much closer between him and the rest of the field than I thought it would be to start the season. His accuracy worries me.

Darnold is still my favorite as well. He makes NFL throws,...I dont mean that like "deep out"..he does that... but with the defense closing in he will thread the needle with a bullet to his guy in the back of the end zone.
also,... he has enough arm strength to throw a 30 yard frozen rope while stood up in the pocket or while falling backwards. He has all the measurables as a pocket passer... but he has very good wheels for a big guy...he aint a running QB, he is a pocket QB that can run.

He’s a coach so not sure how in tune he is opinions of other GMs. Maybe he is providing his thoughts if he were a GM. But maybe coaches feel Jackson will need a lot of coaching and unless a HC / GM feel they have the time to develop him then they don’t want to risk an early round pick on him.

Mike McCarthy wouldn't know a QB if one bit him on the butt. Packers are all about Aaron and Mike is along for the ride.

Look at Brett Hundley.

If you feel a QB is your franchise guy you don't pass on him. There's no such thing as "reaching" if they feel that strongly. Yes teams like the Bears look like idiots for not only trading up one spot but for not taking Watson. They thought so highly of Trubisky it didn't matter.

Seattle passed on Wilson but they weren't blown away with him until the preseason when he took Matt Flynn's job. Same with Dak. If they knew what those two were they would've taken them in the first rd.

Watson 2nd knee blow out.

that was said about nearly every top QB ever drafted. But then they got away with it.
Making those throws is exactly the difference between a mediocre and a good nfl QB. many take a sack, or throw out of bounds...or god forbid get a pick... but some fire the howitzer and get the TD............ the trick is,...the guy has to have the balls to fire the cannon

I could go for either one. If we improve the offensive line and get DJ back healthy things could be looking up!

Looks to me that the Cardinals won't have any trouble in drafting a QB in the first round of next year's draft. The problem being will they get the RIGHT QB. The future of the franchise depends on their pick, UNLESS Blaine Gabbert shows that he's our QBOTF.

Darnold makes the most 'wow' throws out of any prospect, but then he follows it up with a fumble. If he can clean up his turnovers...he would easily be a franchise QB. Watch his game vs Penn State last year, and you'll see throws that most NFL QB's wouldn't make right now.
