TBF we did trade back before taking Cam and we might be trying to do the same thing here.

Trade back 4-6 spots, get a solid veteran player and then draft someone that they have tabbed at around that point in the draft.

Yes completely on the table

Boston has 14, 26 and 30. And I believe there is also mutual interest between them and Baynes for a return there...

Nba draft.net literally has "We crapped on the Cam Johnson pick and it was wrong" post.

A major draft site admits they blew the analysis and they get paid to be right.

It's fine to be wrong once and awhile

If we end up with another Cam Johnson at 10 I'll be happy. This draft isn't good, if you can get a rotational/fringe starter in the late lotto it's a win.

For where we are, sure. But I am 100% sure Desmond Bane isn't that guy.

Would you still take him over Brandon Clarke and Tyler Herro?

I was a huge Clarke slappy but Cam is on the same tier as him.

It's 2020 and 3 point shooting really matters, especially with this team

So.yes.based on what I saw at the bubble, I would take Cam over Clarke.

Herro no but a lot of teams messed that up

And OKC wanted Cam over the pick

Cam can't simultaneously suck and be worth more that a draft pick that people are apoleptic over

Out of curiosity, do you think Desmond Bane is a legitimate NBA player? Because something tells me he is the one with whom Jones is obsessed.

Whoever picked the NBA all-rookie teams would beg to differ (same goes for P.J. Washington).

For this team Cam is the better pick and it was clear during their run

Spacing is a premium with Booker and Ayton.

He's basically not a dbag Mario Elie on this team

Fair point, and I like Cam as a stretch 4 off the bench, now that Monty found that role for him after Cam failed as a 3. I just don't trust James Jones not to waste the #10 pick.

Not the best comparison, as Elie was a 7th round pick and ended up being an elite defender.

He missed more than 20% of the games that were used for voting purposes, hard to overcome that especially for an unheralded rookie.

Well not to topple your incessantly irritating hyperbole of what a NBA player is...if he gets drafted, he is a NBA player

As far as "legitimate", the ability to shoot will never be out of style in the NBA. He is a role player at best but those guys are still "legit NBA players"

I am so over your black and white nonsense

But health would have been factored in the pick, as Cam had medical red flags heading into the draft, particularly with respect to his hip.

Herro would have been the better pick and it might have been possible to draft Herro at 10 and hope to get Cam where we picked Jerome. At the same time I'd take Cam over a number of players picked ahead of him. No one picks the best player available with every pick, you just can't miss terribly with regularity(like the every recent Suns pick in the top half of the lottery sans Ayton).

Okay, let me put it this way:

If Bane is the pick at 10, will you consider that a good move?

And do you think his college shooting will translate to the NBA? (Remembering, of course, that Jimmer Fredette, Trajan Langdon and Adam Morrison, among other NBA washouts, were elite college shooters.)

I can't say with any certitude until he plays a year.

We have blown pick after pick on "values" like Chriss and Josh Jackson.

The draft isn't decided in two days. It's decided in two years

I'm just curious to know what your thought on Bane heading into the draft is.

I already said role player. Spot shooter off the bench probably an 8th man.

I can simultaneously be correct on that evaluation and it's still a good pick. It's more about everyone else than him

You originally said role player "at best". Sorry, but I have to think we could and should do better than that with the #10 pick.

Pick bey, vassel, or auchiwa and call it a day, if our off-season is one of those and Paul that's already possibly the best off-season we've had in 10 years
