Eh. Maybe - only because I think Jones is going to do something stupid with the 10th pick.

Who is Boston after? I know they are trying to move up.
I’ve heard they are interested in Okongwu and I’ve also heard Okoro.

This draft is much deeper than the 2019 draft.

For example, with those picks the Suns could come out of the draft with players like Precious Achiuwa or Jalen Smith at #14.

And at #26, Desmond Bane or Zeke Nnaji. Lots of other good combinations as well.

I guarantee you if they make that trade, Jones is not waiting till 26 for Bane - even though he might be available then. I think Grant Riller would be a decent choice at 26 - but only if you are ready to let Jevon Carter go.

Which means that video is 100% pointless.

No it's not completely pointless. There are many players that can't hit 43 3's in a row no matter how much time you give them.

Ha... looks like nbadraft.net finally jumped on the Bane Train. He went from not being drafted at all on their mock to debuting at #21. It seems like nbadraft.net’s quality has gone down over the years. When the guys at draftexpress got hired by ESPN I kind of expected nbadraft.net to step their game up and take over the top spot for nba draft websites, but instead they seem to be going the opposite directions. I am actually kind of surprised that there aren’t more high level draft sites out there.

I'm expecting the Suns to do something similar to the last draft so I went prefer a trade down if they are going to draft a lesser known player.

As previously mentioned, Okoro seems to be a likely target for them.

Let's hope Boston doesn't trade with someone else.

I will be disappointed if the Suns draft Banes at number 10 without a trade down.

Grant Riller is a 6' 1" (in shoes) undersized shooting guard.

I will be be upset if the Suns come out of the draft with these two players when better players are on the table. At least use one of the picks to draft a 4/5 or a wing if they are trading Oubre.

I know what Riller is. He can flat out score. You are not likely to get a well rounded player at 26, and Jones isn't going to take a project.

I'm not saying I wouldn't be upset also, but I think I know how James Jones views draft prospects at this point.

I wanted to remove any illusion he is primarily a point guard although he can play this position. Riller is basically a shooting guard.

Not "basically". He has zero point guard skills. His ceiling is Eddie House.

The Suns should go after Trey Burke instead but they didn't show interest in him when he was a free agent. He can actually play point guard plus he is a shooter.

I am more and more convinced that we absolutely have to find a way to get Toppin or Haliburton, or else take Bey at 10. They are the only James Jones type prospects who are actually worthy of expending a first round pick...

It's sad that I will be more surprised if the Suns don't do something stupid with the draft than if they do.

I will also be shocked if Bane is not a bust. He looks like a combination of Casey Jacobson and Alando Tucker to me, and doesn't even fill much of a need here.

More Casey Jacobsen than Alando Tucker. He can shoot if left wide open, but he can't do anything else, and he plays like he's stuck in mud. Again, he most reminds me of post-injury Davon Reed.

I really like Nesmith from Vanderbilt if we stay at 10. Thoughts?
Welcome Neo.

Most of the guys available at #10 will have major knocks. Nesmith's are that he's not explosive and he played for a losing program (a truly awful program).

However, I love the fact that the kid conjurs his inner Kobe. Book does the same thing. Obviously the kid can shoot, but what goes unnoticed is that he's a savvy finisher around the rim and uses a variety of moves to get a shot. He never passed much in college, but that is primarily due to the system he was in. He's a capable passer. As to the lack of speed, Book, Paul Pierce, and Harden also had knocks on their speed and overcame by creating space in spite of their "deficiencies". As to the losing program, hopefully he wasn't there long enough to corrupt him and an NBA team can swiftly purge his system.

Every year there's a guy that goes later than #10 that becomes a superstar. Every year it's anybody's guess as to who that will be. My hail mary guess is Nesmith. There's a little bit of Book, a little bit of Harden, and a shade of Kobe in the kid. I'd be happy if the Suns took him.
