I agree, it would totally take away from the show to have them on it...good job on their parts.

No way! Why is it OK for them to have Silver Spoons on there this season, or worse yet, A friggin hobbit on there last season. (Heh. My big joke last season was Hi Im from CTU, the shire field office)????

I dont get the logic.

Ricky Schroeder and a hobbit are not superstars like Aniston. It's different.

It's like putting Tom Hanks on it.

You are comparing Rick Schroeder and Sean Astin to Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller? Seriously?

Besides, if Sean Astin wants to not be typecast, more power to him. There's no denying he can act. I'm sure he hates it when people refer to him as "the hobbit".

Alright 24 fans, help me out here. I've only seen one or two episodes of 24 and liked 'em but I usually can't watch the show when its on. So I thought about buying a season on dvd (I saw that Costco had them for 30 bucks). Which would you consider the best season of 24?

My favorite so far has been season 1 (by far). I watched every episode over 2 or 3 days while housesitting. I liked season 2 a lot too. Season 4 is the worst.

Totally serious. Actors are actors. Characters are characters. If the viewing public has a problem differentiating, thats pathetic. By the way, I would be FAR less likely to freak out over a Jenifer Aniston appearance (she's done other work besides Friends for the love of God) than I was when Sean Astin popped up. Friends is HOW many years gone now??? Jesus.

Its no different at all to me.

So if there was a movie starring Lorenzo Llamas and another starring Denzel Washington, you wouldn't make a decision based on who is in it? I find that hard to believe.

I also find it interesting that you base Aniston's entire career on Friends, considering she has had several successes in the movies (including indie success in The Good Girl).

You're in the entertainment industry (or at least you used to--don't know if you are now), you know how it all works. If you think it's pathetic that the public will react more towards Ben Stiller than they would Sean Astin, well, that's your opinion. But it IS the reality of the situation. I'm not saying that I disagree with you on your opinion about Stiller and Aniston being on 24, I'm just disagreeing that the actor doesn't matter. As a filmmaker, the quality of actors are pretty huge--it can make or break a movie or television show, just like a drummer or a bass player can make or break a band.

By the way, I made a point of saying that Aniston has been in several other films. I just think that the everyday man will think of Friends FIRST when they see her, much like most will think Sam when seeing Sean Astin. Thats the parallel. Im not talking star quality here. Im saying I boo the fact that 24s producers wont put Stiller or Aniston on their show because of their high profile careers, but they will put recognizable stars in. Its silly. Hell, I remember thinking, Hey! Its thhat dude from Young Guns when they announced Sutherland was playing the lead. (HA! Im joking!) I think thats a weak excuse to disclude them from appearing on the show, thats all. And I totally agree with you that the quality of an actor is important. Thats why I think Aniston SHOULD be included. Shes a quality actress.

Fair enough. I wonder if there is more to the story. Probably is--seems petty that the only reason is "they're too famous".

Just got done with the premier. Aside from my standard cries of unbelievability, I love the twist of teaming Bauer with Assad. Id spoiler this, but it doesnt really ruin anything. I can forsee hating myself for getting locked into another season of this, but here we go!

Wow, they did not waste any time in building up a premise before jumping straight into the action. Great premiere.

We just finished Season 5 on DVD a week ago. It's cool to watch it during the week again.

My DVR is in full crunch mode now. Have a Friday Night Lights to watch, the premiere of Rome (and the finale last year to catchup), and 2 hours of 24 with 2 more hours coming tonight.

:billthecat:

That's what taking a weekend and doing house projects will get you...way behind.
