Logan Thomas said he's confident Cards only want him as a QB. Told teams he was a QB, not a tight end.

Kent Somers @kentsomers
Thomas says he's 100 percent a qb. And that's how #azcardinals view him, he says

Darren Urban @Cardschatter
Logan Thomas: "I am 100 percent confident (I can play QB)." Said he's made huge improvements this offseason with George Whitfield.

Kent Somers @kentsomers
Thomas says he could not have gone into a better situation. He's 100 percent confident he can make progress

Kent Somers @kentsomers
Thomas says he had a pretty good idea he would go to the cardinals

Definitely has the size. Can he catch?

Logan Thomas was the #3 ranked TE in the country coming out of high school.

He was actually solid his first year as a starter as a Sophmore (19 TD, 10 INT), but regressed each year after. Junior (18 TD, 16 INT), Senior (16 TD, 13 INT).

Mettenberger is a dirty piss test player already, with injuries. McCarron is a doucheface that nobody likes and isn't the leader or player that Johnny Football, another doucheface, is.

We don't NEED a QB. We need a project to see if gold can be struck. we got that.
Great. We got this biggest strongest fastest QB that can't play QB. Even if they move him to TE, they could have gotten this cat 2 rounds from now and maybe even after the Draft. He was on the friggin dollar menu, we could have just waited outside by the dumpster and got him before they put him in the trash.

Mind boggling pick. Haven't heard any analyst praise this pick. I guess BA knows more tham anyone.

This draft blows.

Don't shoot the messenger but they killed this pick on sirius. Said you can't teach accuracy

You really can't, which is the gamble here. But is it really accuracy, or is the accuracy issue caused by fixable issues like footwork, rushing throws, not going through progressions, throwing off the back foot, etc. that a QB with little experience hasn't grooved yet. It's not like he's played QB since he was 5, and has trained these fixable elements for years and still can't hit the broad side of a barn, overthrowing wide open guys by 20 yards from a clean pocket (cough, derek anderson).

This kid is very raw, and seems to be making some fixable mistakes so maybe the accuracy can be solved somewhat. However, he may just not have much control or may never fix flaws. But he's a great project.

However, you also can't teach the release and easy throw this kid has.

BA and Moore have their work cut out for them, but honestly there's no better spot for him to be. My expectations aren't high, I think he's boom or bust. But I also think Manzeil is boom or bust and comes with high expectations, drama and a fat paycheck. Not really to compare the two, but there it is. This kid has bigger odds against him than JF, but he's got none of the pressure and can just learn from two QB gurus.

Quick Logan Thomas story: When he came to Virginia Tech, he wanted to be a TE. Resisted a move to QB. When they convinced him, it worked.

While I would have liked to have mettenberger over Thomas based on work in college, it's really hard to question taking a gamble on this freak at qb. Zack's piss test, back, and knee just sealed his fate. McCarron is a sideshow. This is perfect, because it does nothing to prevent you from drafting a qb next year. Having said that I am a little puzzled by the other couple guys after the second round.

BA and Tom Morre need to re-invent Logan Thomas, the QB---he played for 3 different OCs the past three years and in college or anywhere that is tough. Here he will get the continuity and receive first-class coaching and mentoring.

The fact that they didn't wait and took him in the 4th round speaks volumes to the level of interest and commitment BA has in his fellow Hokie.

You cannot draw up a more perfect physical model for the BA type QB. This kid has elite ability---he throws with higher RPMs than Colin Kaepernick (which is saying something in itself), is just as fast and is way tougher. When you see iffy college passers like Kaepernick and E.J. Manuel catch on as young players in the NFL, it gives a kid like Thomas a chance.

If Thomas isn't making huge strides in two years---they will switch him over to TE.

But, my money is on BA and Tom Moore. They will push this kid hard and ride him fast and steady.

Plus, as for the Kaepernick comparisons---Logan Thomas doesn't need to wind up the way Kaepernick does---he can rope the ball in a snap of the fingers.

Come on Mitch!

You know I respect you're opinions on player highly, but I couldn't care less this guy "fits what BA wants in a QB". This kid is more inaccurate than Skelton & IMO that's not correctable enough by any HC or OC to be an NFL QB. A QB has accuracy or he doesn't no ifs ands or buts about it.

This was a waste of a pick by Bask & I would bet anyone here that McCarron has a better NFL career. That should've been the pick & they blew it bigtime with this one!!! :bang::bang::bang:

I do not think you can teach accuracy because most of the time it comes down to improving only small things that are apparent but it seems the kid is just inaccurate. I think or hope that Arians and Moore saw that Thomas' accuracy issues could be fixed because his mechanic flaws where so obvious that they could be corrected enough to make a huge difference if it makes any since. Sort of like telling a guy, "Dude, you have the size and strength to be a world class ditch digger but your just holding the shovel at the wrong end" sort of thing LOL

Are you not watching NFL network?

ESPN They tried to be kind but couldn't. The guy wasn't good in college. Polian said he will call BA tomorrow to find out what he was thinking. Isn't seeing any of it.

NFL Network had completely the opposite to say. Felt it was the ideal spot for a huge upside QB and talked about seeing Big Ben in BA's eyes when thinking about this player.

Polian will give BA a call only if he remember where he put his rolodex before his mid-morning nap (says the guy who loves ancient Tom Moore) :D

Why not. Polian said he respects BA as much as anyone when it comes to QB's so obviously they have some sort of relationship. He wants to know what BA is seeing.

The fact that he doesn't like the pick bothers you why?

I have faith in BA and Tom Moore. It's as simple as that. As a former coach, I love that BA is swinging for the fences, because talent-wise, no other QB in this draft can hold this kid's jock. And it's not like Thomas is stupid or has character issues. He's highly motivated and as Todd McShay said that even in a room of All-Stars people gravitate to Logan Thomas.

At BC the past 4 years our QB Chase Rettig, who is a good, strong-armed college QB, went through 4 OCs in 4 years. As was the case with Thomas, it was so hard to take his game to the next level when adjusting to new systems and coaching philosophies. Look at how long it took Palmer and the Cardinals' offense to adjust to BA's system.

So if someone doesn't like who the Cardinals pick let's mock them. Ok I get it.

re invent themselves

BA and Moore need to re invent themselves first - Lets see Moore had PM and BA had pig pen- I keep seeing pictures of Keim, Ba and Michael Bidwill isolated in the war room- well actually they quit showing that train wreck too!

We upgraded at SS, got another blocking TE, a project at DE, a 179 lb speedy special teamer, and a QB that will never see the field in the NFL. While other teams stacked mainstream talent on top of mainstream talent in one of the deepest drafts ever.

I went from extremely hopeful to sitting in the corner blubbering my lip with my finger wondering how the next regime is going to recover from this mess. Old Man Bill Bidwill needs to tackle these fools before they pick the 3rd undraftable player in a row.

Tom Tupa was much better at QB and punting!
