I wonder if any of the players on the team stay in touch with him and know what the deal is?

Lorenzo Alexander said he has kept in touch. Abraham is a huge friend of his (although hes not on the team). I'm sure others have, as well.

And Arians has made it clear that the dressing room would welcome him back.

We would've heard something by now if there was a significant issue delaying his reinstatement. People found out that Justin Blackmon was still breaking rules while being suspended indefinitely.

My belief is that this thing is tied up in the NFL offices; and, even though it shouldn't, the NFL might be looking into the DV situation concurrently.

We should wait until information surfaces before jumping to conclusions.

I agree with this. Also, he JUST got off probation and had his felony reduced to a misdemeanor early, which he couldn't have done without him being an absolute angel and passing every drop possible.

I think there is likely more to it, or he just hasn't applied for some reason.

If he applied mid April as was suggested the initial story, news would be coming out about now.

he just smoked weed ,and when suspension started he didnt miss or failed a test,no reason to postpone it.

no reason to rush it either, they hold all of the control and leverage. theyll do it when another major headline comes out so that they can avoid the press of him being suspended for DV. Try to sweep it under a breaking trade or something

the suspension was for "at least 1 year"

The NFL can take all the time they want.

I'm not sure that's correct. I believe I read in one of these articles there is a time frame the NFL has to respond by once he formally reapplies. Really makes it seam as though he has not reapplied or did so later than he could have. Which to someone from the outside looking in is a red flag.

The suspension in writing was a "minimum of one year"

I dont know if there are time frames on appeals, if so that is the only motivation the league has. Beyond that, why should they do it right away? there is no benefit to them. I expect to hear something on it this month.

Per the substance abuse policy:

•Within 45 days of receipt of the application, Washington will be interviewed by the medical director and the medical adviser, after which a recommendation will be made to Commissioner Roger Goodell with regard to the request for reinstatement.

•The commissioner's staff and that of NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith staff will review Washington's substance abuse history, including but not limited to attendance at counseling sessions (individual, group and family); attendance at 12-step and other self-help group meetings; periodic progress reports; and all diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.

•Washington will submit to urine testing by an NFL representative at a frequency determined by the medical advisor.

•Washington will agree in a meeting with Goodell, or his representative(s), to comply with the conditions for his reinstatement.

•All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable Goodell to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application.

but the application could not become official until june 1st so they would have 60 days from june 1st. Otherwise you could send the appeal 6 months ago.

There is a provision, from what I've read, for an early application, but the decision would come post June 1. Bottom line... We need a decision prior to camp.

Or just take the teams approach like I did. Plan like he isn't here. If he comes back, great. If he doesn't, screw it

Admittedly, it doesn't matter much what approach we take, but this is the drama that is the offseason! It's all we've got!

That's about where I'm at this also. Not planning on seeing him. Surely have to hope one of the young guys look really good as I can't see going through the entire season with Minter starting in the middle

Don't forget Weatherspoon. I think he & Washington (if he's reinstated) will make a dynamic duo in the middle.

He probably hasn't smoked off the $10 million the Cardinals paid him so he doesn't need any more money yet.

Based on what Urban was saying in his Offseason Wrap-up, it sounds like Deone Bucannon may not be playing much safety again in 2015:

Deone Bucannon will play safety some this year but he’ll still show up as that “dollar” linebacker, I’m guessing.

just read the article for the first time... man, if Urban is saying something doesn't smell right about the Washington situation, that scares me. couple that with Arians' saying we're not planning on him being with the team scares me even more since Arians (Levi Brown love aside) usually says what he means.
