The Commish's office wrapped their interviews, etc with Hardy three weeks ago, and still no response. Just saying that it's difficult to work out a precise timetable.

He did at least comply with terms of his probation including drug testing. He received less probation and his felony was logged as a misdemeanor so that adds some curiousness to it. I almost wonder if he is just waiting so he's reinstated by camp time but who knows.

its been something like 19 days since greg hardy filed his appeal and he was eligible to file prior to washington. I would expect to hear a ruling on wash AFTER hardy.

All I know is that if he is able to be reinstated, he is worth a third chance just for the potential nightmares that Washington and Weatherspoon could cause teams on the field together. The upside is enough to take us from contender to complete beast.

Isn't he on his fourth chance already?

It has to be more then that, because he had to have a drug thing to even be put in the program. So, me thinks he is on chance number 5 at least.

Yep!

How a guy ever gets in the program is still mystifying to me. They know when the tests are scheduled for the most part & yet still fail. Lol talk about being stupid.

I don't see this the same way. I see people in their thirties who are still trying to figure out what the hell life is all about. These guys have a life outside of football and for some...that includes weed. For whatever reason some people choose to smoke even when they have "what appears" to be so much to lose. Football is just a game and just a job. For the fan...it is a dream! For some players it is just a job, responsibility, means to an end or in some cases a burden.

I give all of these "kids" passes on the weed thing...in five years it won't even be an issue. NFL commish policing is a joke...read what every game was like for LT...the dude was coked out of his mind...as were a lot of players in the eighties. I'll welcome D-Wash back into the fold whenever he returns. He and Weatherspoon = Thunder and Lightning!!!

Urban always seems a step behind. A good reporter but not a great football mind. He was assuming based on OTA's which D-Wash was not in attendance. Arians would be smart to prepare. as if, D-Wash won't be there. That is the way to coach.

28 years old, and not yet re-instated. Plus looking at another suspension.

The 1st full season Washington could potentially have is next year when he will be 29 years old.

So from 25 to 29 he was more or less out of action in one way or another. That is his athletic prime that just went ................ "up in smoke".

He will be another player who can be labeled as, "What could have been".

The worst part will be when the NFL lets go of weed penalties and he could have played all the way through.

Based on precedent there is no reason to believe that his DV charge would lead a season long suspension.

he was talking about his first "full season" under the assumption he will miss 2-6 games this year and not play a full season.

The worst part is letting the fans and his teammates down. Rules do change. Until they do fallow them. I can't see having the opportunity the man has had to just piss it away to light up. We could really use him. I hope he can stay the course from now on.

worst part to me is the poor child that is apparently being raised by two horror shows of parents.

I didn't think of that. Good point. The judge should take some of his money and put it aside for him. I bet it's gone soon after he's done playing football.

I'm just guessing here because like everyone else I'm getting stonewalled when I inquire. I think it may have been suggested to Washington (or his rep) that he wait a little while to apply. Call it a compliance test. Additionally the Commish's office has taken so much heat that they will tread very carefully on a complex test like this. There will likely be a press release about 2 weeks before training camp, though they could start feeling pressure from fans and break sooner. I still expect an additional suspension of 6 games that might get reduced to 4. I think, though they aren't saying it, the Cards are confident they will get him back or they would have added one more inside guy.

At this point, the NFL can continue to wait until August. If the NFL lifts the suspension and adds an additional 4-6 games, Washington can still practice and participate in training camp until Week 1. That would be a big deal, rather than him disappearing for a year and a half.

Goddell can look and feel like a big man by continuing his suspension for another two months without hurting the team.

I'm not sure he can. That's the part that I may be misunderstanding, but according to this, the commissioner has to respond (once the player has applied and done whatever else is required) within 60 days.

http://www.azcentral.com/story/sport...-nfl/25584321/

Per the substance abuse policy:

•Within 45 days of receipt of the application, Washington will be interviewed by the medical director and the medical adviser, after which a recommendation will be made to Commissioner Roger Goodell with regard to the request for reinstatement.

•The commissioner's staff and that of NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith staff will review Washington's substance abuse history, including but not limited to attendance at counseling sessions (individual, group and family); attendance at 12-step and other self-help group meetings; periodic progress reports; and all diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.

•Washington will submit to urine testing by an NFL representative at a frequency determined by the medical advisor.

•Washington will agree in a meeting with Goodell, or his representative(s), to comply with the conditions for his reinstatement.

•All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable Goodell to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application.

I hope I'm wrong because the Washington that's occupied the field for us + a healthy Sean Witherspoon >>>> Washington + a 30+ year old Dansby but I just don't see this working out great. At least not this year.

Here are my issues (in no particular order):

1) If nothing else, all of this has shown a severe lack of commitment on Washington's part. This is completely atypical of the roster that Kiem and Arians have repeatedly stated to want to build. We don't draft or sign guys like this anymore.

2) The fact that he never wore the green dot for with us, let alone a C for us or TCU, coupled with numerous quotes relating to the subject and hearing him speak tells me that he isn't very intelligent and probably doesn't put in enough study time. How mentally prepared will he be coming in as late as he may?

3) A year and a half of no football will undoubtably have some effect on his body. Could be good or bad. His work ethic has been severely tested. With everything that's transpired, I have a hard time believing he will show up in football shape. I see a blown ACL early in his comeback.

lets assume he applied for reinstatement the day he could: May 30.

that says that the NFL has until July 15 to do something. A decision comes some time after that-- probably just before camp opens

a cynic says they would want this reinstatement and subsequent DV suspension drowned in the flood of news about teams reporting to camp, etc
