WTF is going on here?
The expectation due to previous recent rulings by the NFL is that they will give him the “new” 6 game suspension for all Domestic Violence instances.
--------------------------------
Good. I hope he gets at least 6 games. He did the crime and pleaded guilty. Man up, serve your time, and come back to show people you have changed your life for the better. Had he not had the year-long drug suspension, this would already be behind him. His poor choices...his consequences.
Everyone points to Hardy as getting a reduced suspension, but Hardy missed all but one game last year on the Commissioner's Exempt List (paid leave), was convicted, appealed, and eventually had all charges dismissed. Not a good guy at all, but he was legally cleared. He is still suspended for an additional 4 games because of conduct detrimental to the league (or the league's image).

So he deserves six games because the current penalty is six games, when the incident took place prior to the penalty being increased to six games.
That's why no one trusts the league office with levying punishments anymore. They're making up the rules as they go along and showing zero consistency, which is why the players are taking them to federal court and winning.
Washington was suspended all last season for a far less significant crime and lost salary + bonus money, while Hardy got the equivalent to a paid vacation for beating his girlfriend four times. Truth be told, I think the weed and DV penalties should've ran concurrently due to the extreme length of the punishment and monetary loss, and Washington should be eligible Week 1; but that's not the case. Adding more time to his punishment is not going to further teach him a lesson.

Mike Jurecki @mikejurecki
Daryl Washington applied for reinstatement on May 8th (2015). He was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy in 2014.
Jurecki just tweeted this. The Cards and Washington should have heard something from the league by now???
Tomorrow is "JULY 15" , is the league office intent on jacking D-Wash around ???
It looks like "We Will Render Our Decision In The Last Hour".
The NFL needs a new Commissioner !!!!

I've posted this before, according to this quote from Somers, the NFL is not within their own guidelines:
Per the substance abuse policy:
•Within 45 days of receipt of the application, Washington will be interviewed by the medical director and the medical adviser, after which a recommendation will be made to Commissioner Roger Goodell with regard to the request for reinstatement.
•The commissioner's staff and that of NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith staff will review Washington's substance abuse history, including but not limited to attendance at counseling sessions (individual, group and family); attendance at 12-step and other self-help group meetings; periodic progress reports; and all diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.
•Washington will submit to urine testing by an NFL representative at a frequency determined by the medical advisor.
•Washington will agree in a meeting with Goodell, or his representative(s), to comply with the conditions for his reinstatement.
•All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable Goodell to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application.

If the May 8th date is correct, NFL should have responded a week ago. I'd be curious to get Somer's response if someone can email him quoting his article, the application date and the NFL statement. Something's not adding up!

I'm sure you'd be saying this if Daryl was--say--a New York Jet.
The marijuana suspension was the result of four or five failed or skipped tests. That program was collectively bargained and he's already been suspended for a quarter of the season – AND Daryl just got a $5M bonus check from the Cards while he was on the suspension.
The implicit argument that you're not making here is that a guy who has a pending suspension should just double down on it. If you've already beaten your wife, might as well gone on a couple HGH cycles – as long as you behave yourself during the inevitable suspension, the NFL will let you off for one or another.
If Greg Hardy only gets 4 games, then Washington should only get 1-2 games max.
