Barns has been horrible with his shot lately and turning the ball over. However, people are not giving him enough credit on defense. Between Hill and Barnes they have turned the SF position into the best defended position on the team.

Barnes is not starting material but I say limit his touches on the ball and your OK.

And im willing to bet he's more pissed than any of us about his recent slump. And he has been making it up in other areas. Most coaches will agree that shooting yourself out of a slump is a pretty effective way of doing it.

He was over 50% from 3 earlier this year too.

The two things Barnes has to work on:

1) TURNOVERS - Ive never seen so many bad passes from an NBA player before.

2) Attitude - His temper gets the best of him and its unbecoming of a professional.
Turnovers-Yes definately.
Atitude-No way, we've got enough "nice guys" on this team. Having a Barnes on your team is an important intangible.

If it's true that Amare's retina has been partially detached for a while, a harder blow to the head/orbit could have knocked it off completely.

Wow, I hadn't thought of that, but that's a good point. I think it was the first Clippers game. Barnes had the ball at the top of the three-point arc and was about to shoot it, but at the last instant he changed his mind and tried to fire a pass to Stoudemire near the basket. Barnes being Barnes, he passed the ball a million miles an hour and not exactly on target. It hit Stoudemire pretty hard, on the right side of his head if I remember correctly. I didn't think much of it at the time, except for, "There goes Barnes trying to do too much again."

So far, the biggest problem with Barnes is his defense. It sucks. His offense could be fixed, with the new scheme under Gentry.

No kidding. Barnes is part of our bench depth, a part time player. If he had star talent, he'd be making big bucks, probably elsewhere. Yet here he gets ripped for the flaws that most bench players on every team have.

True. It's an art to use players to their strength while avoiding to expose them to their weakness. Pop and Sloan are masters at that. Porter is the opposite master -- he seems to have the unique talent to really screw up his roster and make the worst out of close to every of his players.

Thank you. I swear it seems that if a SUNS player isn't a lights out offensive player or a freakin All star then the fans are blindly quick to yell:
"He sucks" or "get him out of the game".......delusional IMO.

So are we starting Barnes or Dudley at the 4 spot now that Amare is gone for the season?

Or are we putting LB in at SG and moving Richardson and Hill to 3 and 4?

Thats what Gentry did for the last two games but I would guess that he won't subject Hill to battling PFs for a while. Hopefully he sits Hill until his foot is better. Regardless of who he starts several people will be filling in at PF - Dudley, Barnes, Amundson. Who knows, Courtney Sims, who is big enough, make get some time.

I would guess that without Amare the Suns are once again below the minimum number of players, counting Sims, so they might bite the bullet and pick up someone like Mikki Moore while they're at it. Heck, it could cost effective, figuring our odds of getting a slice of the post-season pie would go up.
