Amare Stoudemire was on ESPN Radio in New York on Friday and lobbied for the Knicks to sign him instead of Chris Bosh. Stoudemire expressed a desire to play for Mike D'Antoni in 2010. "No doubt about it, I'm better than Chris Bosh," said Stoudemire when posted with the question.
"How serious will you consider the Knicks in 2010," asked Brandon Tierney.
"I will be totally serious about that, I spent a lot of my childhood there, I have a connection with the state, and I also love the entire coaching staff."
"I think Coach D'Antoni's doing a phenomenal job with the Knicks, NY's a great city, I follow them closely."

Suns' Stoudemire talks about future

WASHINGTON - While appearing for The Vision Council, a group promoting eye protection, Suns star Amaré Stoudemire discussed his future Friday.
Besides questions about recovery from his damaged retina, Stoudemire addressed his career down the road. From February trade discussions to his ability to opt out from his Suns contract next summer, Stoudemire heard inquiries about his future in every NBA market that interviewed him on Friday.
• To a San Antonio TV station, "What are you trying to start a riot in Phoenix?" before adding, "You never know what will happen. If I'm not going to win a championship soon, I may have to part ways."
• To one in Atlanta, where he just visited, "They would love for me to be in Atlanta," but adding, "I still should be in Phoenix next season."
• He said he heard it most from New York and Chicago, telling a Chicago station, "Whatever team I go to, I hope they're ready for a championship run."
• To a D.C. radio station, there is a “50 percent chance” he would be with the Suns this fall.
For the Suns, a return to the playoffs is a goal that they hope to meet after having made Alvin Gentry their coach for at least the next two seasons.
"I'm a big-time Alvin Gentry fan," Stoudemire said. "That'll be a good look for us. He's more of a player's coach. He listens to the players and tries to implement that. I never had a chance to talk stuff out with other coaches. I look at a situation with Tim Duncan and (Spurs coach Gregg) Popovich and he was a friend to him and they became champions. I haven't had that yet."

So Amare says whatever team he ends up with should be ready for a title run. The reality is that whatever team he ends up with should also be ready for a one sided ball player who doesn't show up on the other end and goes AWOL on the boards every other game.

PS. The Knicks would be a perfect fit because we know D'Antoni doesn't care about defense.

Before people go all idiotic and call Amare a traitor and knock him for a lack of loyalty, lets keep in mind things from his point of view. Amare isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but it doesn't take Werner Von Braun to realize the Suns front office doesn't know what its doing. Athletes have a very short career to make as much cash as they can and try to win. Amare grew up and saw what happened to KG who was loyal to an awful front office, why should he sit through that to? Id love for Amare to play every game of his career as a Sun, but if I were in his knee braces & goggles, Id be looking to get as far away from Kerr as I could too.

Amare certainly isn't going to say anything bad about teams he feel may pay him the big bucks if the Suns decide not to extend him.

He does this same thing anytime he's confronted about being involved in trade rumors, or signing a FA deal somewhere.

Doesn't suprise me. He should keep his mouth shut, but it doesn't surprise me at all.

What's the fuss?? What do you expect Amare to do? He knows the Suns will not extend his contract next season. So after '09, he's gone. The chances of him remaining in PHX are slim to none. The Suns need to trade him now, or they run the risk of letting Amare walk away and getting nothing in return. Amare is doing exactly what he should be doing - keep all his options open and closing no doors with any potential trade targets... smart guy. ;)

Amare has no problem hyping himself up to the media. This isnt new nor does it mean he wont be a sun next season.

Is that memphis offer still on the table? Im pretty sure they'd be more inclined to throw in Conley since Rubio is in the bag.

Amare to Memphis, DOOOOO IT!!!

When, where, and how does Stoudemire think he's ever going to have a better supporting cast than what he's had the last few years?

Stoudemire, Tucker, and the #14 for David Lee (sign and trade starting at $8.5 million), Jared Jeffries (salary filler, expires 2011), Wilson Chandler, and the #8. Just do it now.

Well he is better than Bosh lol.

I don't like his answer, but if he comes prepared to play, he can say whatever the hell he wants.

In a van...down by the river.
The SUNS FO doesn't appear like they've been willing or prepared to rebuild this team.
Its looking more & more like they're going to be forced to do just that , considering the talk that we've heard from Nash, Amare.
I don't blame them for considering better situations.

The Suns are not going to extend Amare. He knows that and is therefore doing what he should be doing... Why is this so hard to understand??

Which is why if he is not interested in being here, we need to get as much value as possible for not only stat, but for Nash and Shaq. It'll definitely be a rough couple years, but no need to have these three leave without any compensation.

Isn't this the same guy who practically ran D'Antoni out of town? In essence said "don't let the door hit you on the way out"

What gives you the impression that I don't understand it? Why is it so hard for you to understand? Oh, wait, you understand it too?

Sorry 'bout that... I assumed by your bolded comments above that you were implying Amare was running from the Suns.

No, but I do think his braggadocio about how the Suns aren't serious about competing for a title but His New Team will be is delusional and hilarious.

I just think he's simply a man looking for a new home, and feels the need to say what he thinks he "needs" to say in order to ensure as many options are open to him as possible.
I could be completely off-base, but I believe if Amare could create the perfect scenario, it would be for him to remain in Phoenix and win a championship. However, it just wasn't meant to be.
He, Nash and Shaq all need to be traded... it sucks. But it needs to happen as if the Suns don't move these guys, they seriously run the risk of letting them each walk with zero coming back in return. That's almost unimaginable yet, it's a possibility...

If there's one thing we've learned about Amare, he's all about Amare. I have little doubt that he's thinking of market as he's selling himself to NY. I say go, for what he gives I wouldn't give him a max extension. If we could work out a sign and trade after this season... do it.
