I think Taylor did a great job - but am growing more and more tired of the woos, soul patrol and the violent jerking around - what was once endearing is becoming annoying

You do know that Soul Patrol is the name of, basically, his fan club right? The AI message boards has a close to a thousand page thread called Soul Patrol that started to honor him and he gives them a shout out every week. That kind of thing gets him enormous votes.

He's actually toned down the woos. I hope to hell he doesn't change his hair. Gray Charles doesn't have dyed hair.

And theme weeks are dumb, IMO, especially a Stevie Wonder theme week.

And the Pickler is a freaking fake...first she says that she hardly knows Stevie, or his songs, then she's there crying because she's meeting him. Pickler is so fake it hurts.

i find him to be about as fake as pickler

Interesting. I don't find him to be fake at all, but I can definitely see how his mannerisms would grate on people over time. It's funny how different people perceive "annoying" and how close it can be to "endearing."

Taylor is about as genuine as it gets IMO... He really feels music, not just perform.

I think that is what separates him from the rest of the buch...

I hope he wins!!!!

Bizarre. Ace in the bottom three and Chicken Little was safe.

I'm sad for Melissa, but you can't forget your lyrics without repercussions.

And boy, but is "You had a bad day" not the absolute WORST song to play for the people voted off? It's rude and mocking...I think I'd punch someone when they played that song for me. Little bit more than a "bad day."

last night showed the importance of audience connection

you have to make one - no matter how bizarre it may be - that explains why kevin sticks around - eventually he'll get swallowed out, but at this stage there are enough people not making any connection

i wasn't shocked by the final 3 last night - in fact I called it - i said melissa was going home but don't be suprised to see ace or lisa in there (honestly wasn't expecting both - i thought bucky would be the 3rd)

ace has a very plastic look, sings in a boring manner in a whiny falsetto that is annoying - he may have some of the female vote, but most people just don't like the guy

lisa has an incredible voice - she just isn't relating to the audience - i think this is a shame and although i predicted her in my final 6 - she may be in danger if she doesn't make a connection

also by this point the seed already needs to be planted - it's hard to win an audience and make your mark when you are dictated by a theme

My take this week on the top 10 (Kevin don't count).

Overall winner: Barry Manilow...he was awesome, and actually DID something for these guys. Fantastic job Barry.

1. McPheever....she's really starting to become my Kelly Clarkson 2.0. I don't think she has the fanbase though, but who knows. She was great last night.
2. Elliot ...better look now and his voice is crazy good. Ace with his voice would be a force. Great performance. But I think he may end up in the bottom three, it's looking that way. I sure hope not.
3. Mandiesel...didn't really love this performance, but she's got a good belt it out voice. I'm finding her pretty boring when she's just singing though.
4. Taylor....not a great song for him, but man is he a performer. I loved watching him.
5. Paris...I expected a lot more from her on this one. I love "Fever" and she wasn't on it. I would have preferred her going off for more of the song, instead of slow as long as she did. My wildcard for being a suprise bottom 3.
6. Chris--Gah! Two reasons I dropped Chris so low, but first things first, I think he did a good job and I could see that song on his album. However, I am quite tired of him just singing a rock cover of every song and calling it good. Even Kid Rock did that Picture song with Sheryl Crow. Show me some versatility please Chris. Two, don't ef around with a Johnny Cash song like Walk the Line, and just do a rock cover of it like Live did. At some point, this "just rawk" mentality will hurt you. But who cares? Dude is SOOOO getting a record contract no matter what happens.
7. Ace--See if you can steal Elliots voice to complement your stares of lust into the hearts of girls across america. And ditch the falsetto PLEASE. Ace just doesn't have anything going for him right now. Anyone think that little girl in the audience was a plant? I mean, the producers want Ace to stay, so get a cute little girl to help schill a product, then pimp Ace not once, not twice, but three times?
8. Lisa--I like her voice, but she hasn't made any inroads into getting people to vote for her. Bottom three, and maybe voted off.
9. Pickler: God, fake. And now her accent gets stronger when singing? PLEASE. She needs to be voted off soon so her career in porn can fully blossom. I think they turned her mike off on purpose so we all wouldn't lose IQ points listening to her speak. Thank you producers.
10. Bucky: Again, he hit some great points in the song, but his lower register is very poor. He's a fantastic personality and an average at best singer. Probably the one going home, IMO.

11: He who must not be named Who else. Kev. Boring. Doesn't belong. It's beyond pathetic now. Somebody pluck this chicken already.

Overall - last night was the best night vocally of the season - amazing what a talent like Barry Manilow (producer/arrainger) can do in such a short time.

I actually like Pickler's version of Walkin After Midnight.

Mandisa was awesome, Elliott did great.

Worst of the lot - Chicken Little was so far below everyone else it was pathetic.

I agree on Barry...man, he really put together some fantastic arrangements on those songs. For the first time, a celeb guest actually did something other than being a celeb. Plus, I'd watch Barry's reality show...I never knew how "cool" he was. Awesome personality and charisma.

Re: Pickler....have you ever seen R. Kelly's "In the Closet" videos? At one point, he sings like this white trash lady, and he sings the word "baby" all drawled out and weird, and it comes out like "lbaaayybeuey." That's exactly how Pick sang the word Maybe. Her over-hicking of the Patsy Cline classic bugged me to no end. I wouldn't be suprised if Pickler speaks with a British accent off screen...seriously. But she very likely may end up in the top three. Looking at dialidol.com, she's incredibly popular.

Last night was pretty good - i don't like manilow and was skepitical of the '50s, but it worked pretty well

what barry was trying to get to them (and what hurts many of them) is that singing is more than just hitting notes - you have to be believable, you have to make the song personal to you

with that said I thought mandisa did great when I first heard her, but when compared to katherine and paris I think she falls short - she kills the belt it out parts, but kind of gets lost on the others - paris and katherine have so much control that they sell the song even when it isn't at it's crescendo

elliott has a great voice, i thought his performance was good and heartfelt - but I fear he may have trouble making that big connection - same deal with lisa (probably even more so for her)

i thought pickler did a very good job last night

i liked the performance of taylor, although the song bored me

chris continues to do what he needs to do - versatility isn't a necessity in the music industry - especially for rock singers - no need to show any weakness by getting away from what he does well - i thought his vocals were pretty poor last night, but he carried on

ace - this guy is just flat out boring and yes I do think the little girl was a plant - between that and having him close the show and constantly reminding people to vote for who they want so a guy like ace doesn't end up in the bottom 3 - they can't save him forever though - he's just too dull

kevin - i don't want to be a prick - but if you are going to make a living by talking/singing etc you cannot have a speech impediment - it's that simple

Which would be a shame - bucky, kevin, ace, lisa, kellie all deserve to go home before he does.
