8. Mandisa - Continues to prove me right. Can't sing. Can belt. She's a one trick pony, even though that trick is incredibly impressive and good. I mean, if your pony's trick was being able to read out loud, you're going to be rich. Bottom three tonight.

LOL. Mandiesel new name is "Cecil Fielder". She either homers or strikes out. No in between. That and they have the same silhouette.

agree with mandisa - horrible choice for her, because there is no belt out

elliott sounded alright - but no emotion in the song

ace started out very well - but he couldn't help being boring - the last verse should come off like someone anguished and very emotional - he came off cutesy and then went into that falsetto

bucky did a song he likes - but probably should of used this to do something a little more lively and get the crowd behind him - poor choice on what should of been his week (end the program with a bang you dope)

pickler, katherine & chris were my top 3 this week - all did pretty well

paris I could go either way on - i thought she did well at the time, but can't remember a single thing about it

also i'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I think chris is nailing pickler - there is a lot of contact between those two - all the result shows they are hugging, or she has her hand on his leg, or at the end of one show chris acknowledged one of the contestants and then walked across the stage to stand next to her

keep an eye on it tonight and let me know if you see it too

from realityblurred.com;

"During his chat with Mandisa, Ryan told Simon Cowell, "And if you read the dictionary, you'd know what 'constructive' means." Simon replied, "Ryan, with respect, I'm not the one trying to look like someone out of 'Desperate Housewives.' Lose the beard." Even though Ryan was sporting some facial hair, the joke didn't make much sense, until you realize that Ryan was photographed 'kissing' Teri Hatcher last week and "beard" has a second meaning."

Not suprised that Mandisa was voted off. Again, dialidol was dead on. Looked like the three groups were the top three, middle three and bottom three. Not sure if they said that's how they were setting them up.

Mandisa didn't bring it, and her lack of singing skills brought her down.

I'm now very interested to see where her votes go. Will Paris get them as she sings the soulful type songs, or will Katherine get them since she also has that soulful edge? My money is on Kat, as I don't think Paris has much of a following overall and don't see her picking up voters. I wonder also about how Bucky's votes will go when he leaves...I think they will split between Chris and Pickler, with Chris picking up the bulk. Taylor is still going strong, but lost a lot this week. He really needs a strong performance to keep his lock to win status in place. Chris is coming up fast and I think Katherine is too after apparantly making a real audience connection...finally. Top Four is going to be Taylor, Chris, Kelly and Katherine. I really hope Kat can overtake Pickler. Pick's fakeness is coming through in bunches now, and I hope it's only a matter of time before she loses her support. Country is behind us, so her strong weeks are going to wane...hick has waxed already.

Next week is Queen songs...should be VERY interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

BTW, I never, ever knew that "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was a Queen song. Color me shocked...I always assumed that was an Elvis song, because Freddie Mercury sang it like him. I also was shocked to see it was from 1979. Some good info on that song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Little_Thing_Called_Love

I want Elliot to sing Bohemian Rhapsody. I think he will make that song his bitch and get some much needed love from the voters. If whomever sings that song does it well, they will grab votes because it is universally loved. I bet the finalists are fighting over who gets to sing it. The other Queen songs are going to be interesting to sing...who does what?

I say Katherine does "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and will be amazing if she does. Bucky could also handle that number interestingly.

What will Chris sing? My Guess is "We will Rock You." Fits his theme, and he could possibly put a twist on it that would take it out of stadium rock and make it something really cool. I'm hoping that's the route he takes. I think if he does that song with some more energy than it is normally sung, he might win the competition next week and have a single out of it. I just have this feeling he'll have some twist on one of their songs up his sleeve, or leather wrist manacles, whatever.

Paris will sing Another One Bites the Dust, and if she sings it like she did Conga, she will bite the dust.

Pickler will sing ?

Taylor Bring Back that Leroy Brown?

Ace will sing something with a falsetto. Poop. If he grabs Bohemian Rhapsody, I might punch him right in the scar. That's Elliot's song, Ace....step off.

I don't know what Bucky will sing if he doesn't do Crazy Little Thing Called Love. I hope he doesn't sing We Are The Champions...I hope nobody does. It's a bit too campy to sing in a competition. So is we will rock you, and I think only Chris could pull it off.

I'm interested....

Taylor seemed disinterested this week. Almost like he was distracted. I wonder if something's up with him.

After watching his performance online, and then watching him during the results show, he looks to me like he's on painkillers. He has a slow reaction speed, and seems to be alert, but drowsy (I know that doesn't make sense, but when I was on percoset--sp?--that's how I felt). He seemed like he knew what was going on, but was a couple of steps behind.

He also seemed sweaty around his lip during his lackluster performance, when he's never really seemed sweaty at all, and he had no energy when we all know he's channeling about 17 people inside of him, including Ray Charles.

Something is definitely up, and my guess is painkillers of some sort. He's got a huge fanbase, but it will dwindle fast if he doesn't wake up. We need some more Swannee River type stuff from this guy or he's not going to win.

Excellent write up, but I totally see Ace grabbing this song, tucking his boys under and going mad falsetto. It is going to be horrible.

Well, Mandisa is gone - did she alienate her fan base with her religion, and the internet stories about her mentioned hero (Beth Moore) being virulently homophobic?

And it ruins the thought of Mandisa's perfect Queen song: "Fat Bottomed Girls"

Mandisa Says She's Not a Gay 'Advocate'

Is ousted "American Idol" contestant Mandisa anti-gay? The 29-year-old soul singer and outspoken Christian, who was voted off the hit Fox show Wednesday, says she would not perform at an event held in support of the gay community.

Mandisa, a native of Antioch, Tenn., tells Advocate magazine, "Based on what I believe, I'm not an advocate for (being gay), so it's nothing I would take part in."

Still, she says in an interview in the magazine's Web site, she's "really upset" by speculation she endorses the ex-gay movement a collection of Christian groups that seek to alter sexual orientation. The speculation stemmed from comments she made on the "American Idol" Web site praising author and speaker Beth Moore, of Living Proof Ministries. Moore's Web site has links to groups such as Exodus International that discourage homosexuality.

"It broke my heart," Mandisa says. "I live my life by the value system that you treat others the way you want to be treated. I let love be my guide. I absolutely hate no one."

Long a favorite of "Idol" judges, she says her views "could have contributed" to her surprising elimination. "Idol" contestants are trimmed weekly based on fan voting.

"Honestly, I'm not sure," she says. "I've heard a lot of different theories about what could have happened, and all of 'em sound pretty decent to me."

For the love of god, why didn't Chris sing "Another One Bites the Dust?"

Ace ruined a great rock song.

Bottom three: Ace, Bucky, and Katherine.

And Kelli really can't be that dumb. It's not possible.

There were some good things and some ugly things tonight.

1. Elliot...man, that was a great job on that song, tremendous. Performance of the night. I really can't say more, other than it stayed stuck in my head...and how in the world does he sing like that through those sets of teeth.

2. Taylor...guy is just fun fun fun. David Radford sang this song earlier in the year, and I was bored to tears. Taylor sings it, and I'm smiling nonstop. He's got a great quality to his voice, and when he is feeling a performance, he's awesome. Good to see you back T...no more painkillers or whatever?

3. Katherine...I love this song, and she's gorgeous. I thought she was a nice change of pace for the show, and she did great.

4. Chris....I agree with Simon on this one. Chris had a chance to murder this show by rocking a recognizeable song tonight, and instead sings a song that Queen doesn't even know the lyrics to anymore. NOBODY has heard that song, and the reason why is because it sucks. Remember, if you sing a crappy song, your vocal lipstick can turn it into Mr. Hanky, but its still a piece of crap.

5. Bucky--Pretty decent performance. It was ok. I'm just suprised they let you sing that particular song. Maybe I'm just thinking back to 6th grade when the school wouldn't let me do a King of the Road solo because it talked about cigarettes. Bucky might be voted off, but I hope not, not yet.

6. Ace - I loved this arrangement of We Will Rock You, one of the best I've ever heard. However, Ace's voice was very freaking weak and couldn't hang with the powerful arrangement he did. He's my vote to be knocked off .

7. Pickler - Ghastly. Oh my god. She looked just terrible. She can't fake stupid, and she can't fake rocker either. And there were parts of Rhapsody where ears were bleeding. That was one of the most gawdawful performances I've seen on this show, and we've seen a lot on this show through the years. The judges need to just stop with her. I'm really hoping that tomorrow night Simon says that after he reviewed the tape that Kellie's performance was not good at all. If he does NOT do this, then there is no doubt in my mind...he's tappin that.

8. Paris - Gross look. Terrible performance. Absolutely NO power. Couldn't even hear her over the music for half of it. By far and away, the worst of the night, and I thought Kellie was head-in-the-toilet awful. If the New Testament God is in control, Paris will be gone tomorrow. If the wrathful Old Testament God is running things, he will punish us with more Paris, and that performance will be the soundtrack to your own personal hells.

0. Queen. They really did not want to be there. Not one dirty bit. Thanks for all the help, fogeys. Really, bring back Manilow. That dude was awesome on this show.

DDogg, I agree wholeheartedly with some of your takes (Taylor, Chris, Queen) but I thought Elliott was pretty crappy.

I had a hard time with most of these preformances last night because I expect to hear Freddy's amazing voice being belted out over the band, instead I heard these kids. I litterally laughed out loud when Elliott started singing.

Paris was bad, as was bucky, IMO. I think the bottom 3 are Paris, Bucky and Elliott. Pickler wasn't good, but I didn't think she was gawd-awful.

Wasn't sure how I would like tonight - Queen is one of my favorite groups, and Freddie Mercury was one, if not the greatest frontman ever. Very few lead singers have his range and versatility. Tough act to try to cover, but if done well, could be awesome.

My takes on Queen night:

1) Bucky - Bucky gets the #1 nod for several reasons - he was entertaining, he had his best performance of the year, and the tribute to Mandisa (singing "Fat Bottom Girls" was outstanding!

2) Kat - Love this song, and thought she did well with it.

3) Elliott - Enjoyed his performance - a few problems, but not bad.

4) Kellie - unlike some, I thought she did a good job. Yes, some of the more difficult parts were not in this arraingement, but entertaining.

5) Taylor - I knew this would be the song he would pick, and IMHO, a mistake. We don't need to see more of what he calls dancing. Very much a one-trick pony.

6) Chris - the only reason Chris scores this well is because a) he can sing a little, b) Ace and Paris sucked worse, and c) I wouldn't kick him outta bed.. Horrid song choice. Chris needs to do something else, not alt-rock every week

7) Paris - ugh - vapid, boring, ugly........

8) Ace - Ace needs to be flushed - I'd rather see William Hung sing than him. Awful, Awful, Awful.

Ace is flat out atrocious. I think his pretty boy looks is what's keeping him around. I really didn't think Paris was all that bad.

My problem with the show right now...

These stupid gimmicky weeks of "County" and "Elton John" or "Queen"...that makes these singers do songs that they would NEVER sound great doing.

Kellie Pickler is good, I like her...but last night was probably hard. Like the people who were forced to sing country, and just can't...bad weeks, people think they suck, when in reality, they just don't sing that type of music well.

There are very few, maybe just Taylor and Chris, that can sing almost every kind...but event hey haev a hard time with it.

I agree and was telling my wife kind of the same thing...

Not so much with the country thing but single artists have certain styles and it is just too hard for these kids by narrowing the choices down that much... I am all for the themed song selections and even country has a broad enough styling for a blues, rock, ballad or alternative type singer to find a song that fits their style...

I thought the Stevie Wonder week was a bad week too for the same reason... Single artist themes are too narrow...

So Tiny Tim week wouldn't be a good thing?

But that's the thing, Kelly Clarkson, the best idol of all, killed nearly every week. D-Dogg schooled me to her Season 1 performances and she killed everything in her path. It truely proved she was the best singer in the competition and has lead to her being a commerical success today.

I think they would all get it, to my knowledge that was his only song.
