Man, I'm looking forward to the theme nights now because this has been booooring this week.

To the men's performances last night:

Taylor: Back on top, brought it again after a bit of a shaky start on that song. For the life of me I don't know why he hasn't sang Georgia yet...I've heard his rendition online and its sick. I guess he felt he hasn't needed to pull it out yet, and is saving it for later in the competition if it appears on the songlist. Only fun performance of the evening.

Chris: I love the song, but it isn't a very exciting song. Half of Chris' magic is his commanding presence on the stage, and he didn't really seem very into this song, IMO. He still sang it great, but it was lacking that stage presence of last week's performance.

Elliot: These three are going to be the top 3 over and over again for the guys, I have the feeling. Despite a poor song choice for him, and boring to boot, his voice is fantastic. Had some problems early in the song, but midway through his voice belted it out.

Will: I happen to like this kid's voice a great deal; he needs stage presence though, but the tone and quality of his voice is great. However, he's not picking songs that show it off. He's in danger this week...I don't know how big his fan base is and Chicken Little may claim him.

Ace: Ok, the look is great. The voice is very good. He seems to be the total package, but I personally can't stand the falsetto. Not just his, but in general, although his has some weird screetch to it at times that really hurts. He's got a good voice, but I'd like to see him in his lower register more. He's completely, totally safe this week though.

Gideon: Probably the performance I liked best of his thus far, but that's not saying much. I don't click with this guy at all. ESPECIALLY when he's speaking...he's robotic. This. Is. A. Painting. I. Did. Of. The. World. The. World. Is. A. Record. Because....shut up and power down Gidbot. Dude needs voted off, but he's probably safe this week.

Bucky: I like the guy, he's goofy and has a cool personality. It's very scary there are two of him out there though...yikes. God pulled a funny. However, he's just not a very good singer...he's a one trick pony, and the pony has a broken leg. Bucky should be put down this week, but I don't know if he will be. Probably.

Chicken Little: On a night full of boring songs, standing out because you sang a boring song is a HUGE accomplishment. Enormous. Congrats Kevin, that was the most mindnumbingly boring song I've heard you nasally lisp your way through. If even his "he's so dorkingly cute and sweet" fans think he deserves to stay after that, then you are looking at your eventual American Idol. You need to be voted off, and I hope you keep your feathers numbered for just such an occasion.

I heard that the Gideon guy was hilarious last night. They did an intro that was like "other interests" or something.....and Gideon likes to paint. I was told it was something that looked straight Special Ed.

Any truth to this?? Anyone have a video link....I gotta see this painting.

I was cooking dinner while it was on, so I didn't "see" any of the preformances. But, despite thinking Ace is a huge puss, I thought he sounded pretty good. He surprised me.

I also have a higher opinion of Bucky's singing than D-Dogg-- I thought he sounded pretty good, too.

I like Bucky a great deal, and hope Chicken and Gideon are voted off this week and give him one more shot. I didn't like Bucky's song last night though...I think he's actually going downhill from the auditions to now. I had a lot of hope for him actually.

i'm not a country fan out there so I can't gauge how good bucky is doing - to me it seems rough, and although he is a genuine type of guy - he'll need to really lean on the country music fanbase to stay around another week

kevin should go, but probably won't - i see will as being gone - i personally like the kid, but he has been near the bottom every week and that was probably his worst showing - so I can't see it getting him any more votes

we watched last night with a kevin fan - as soon as the song started I stated that this was something out of junior high - then i got in trouble for being annoyed at his lisp

his fans are rabid apparently - to me the performance was like those when I was in junior chorus and they would bring a couple people up to either duet/solo, etc - same type of song, same type of performance

however his fans are like "the song had a lot of "S" in them and he can't help it" or "he's only sixteen, of course the song is a bit juvenille"

if you can't pronounce the sound don't sing it - if you want to compete with the big boys, bring big boy game

that would be like me trying to make it on an NBA roster - after all, i'm 6'5", can shoot the ball great, play hard and like to think i'm likeable - who cares if I can't run well, can't jump well, have trouble creating my own shot and definitely am not an NBA level player - i'm a likeable rec leager who has some height and shoots well they should just let me play.................

Yep, Ayla killed herself by picking that song. I knew it. I'm happy that Melissa is at least there though, I like her. But Ayla sings circles around Pickler, light years better.

Freaking Chicken Little fans man, I can't believe it. It's obnoxious. Will is a better singer, and so is Gidebot. That's ridiculous. And I DON'T LIKE GIDEON!
I hate Gidebot and he's killing Chicken Little with his goodbye performance of When a Man Loves a Woman.

I can understand Pickler, because she can help sell concert tickets for the Top 12 Tour with her good looks and "Aw shucks, that's what a car looks like?" personality, but Chicken Little does not put butts in the seats. The judges have been giving this geek a pass every week with glossed over comments, when they would have RIPPED other contestants to shreds with the same performances. Now he's knocked off three singers who are better than him (at a bare minimum) and is in the top 12. Everyone left in that top 11 (which is what it is now) is a very good singer, and it's going to be tough to see them voted off each week, but the longer Chicken Little survives, the larger travesty his presence will be.

i agreed with all those who were sent home except for Gedeon - it should have been Kevin instead. oh well, he won't last more than 3 weeks.

yep - gideon killed it last night on his final performance - he should of done that earlier in the week

the guy is bland, but has a pretty good voice

ayla just doesn't connect with anyone

and once again to me the big part of this show is making a connection with the audience - kevin advances because he's made that connection to a certain sect

you can be a great singer, but if you don't reach anyone then you will be forgotten

the first ones to go are the ones with a bad voice and bad connection

next you get rid of the good voice no connection people

then go the good connection no voice people

leaving the ones who can do both - sing and touch an audience

i think kevin will advance again next week (i think melissa and bucky could be walking) but definitely not beyond that - i doubt he'll stand in the final 8

I read a review of the cd that wasn't too promising I didn't even bother.

Hard to believe the man on stage Thursday night was the same man who had that unbelievable accapella performance last season.

My wife bought his CD, she loves it and liked his performance as well last night...

regarding bo - i know that he's been very sick lately and in and out of the hospital. if he has been seriously sick it could mess with his stamina and his ability to sing a little. he looked really tired and out of breathe while he was singing. i just contributed it to him not being 100% yet. i haven't heard his cd yet.

I had one of those crappy "hollywood" shows on last night in the background. (I don't remember which one. They all kind of blend in together.) I recall hearing that Bo was pretty under the weather during his performance.

Let's go, the first week of the Top 11--overall just a boring, boring, boring night. Bunch of bleh, save a few really good performances.

1. Taylor Hicks: He is a great performer, I love his stuff. Break out that damn harmonica Taylor! Soul PATROL!!! Yeah, wooooo! He worked it out tonight and was great. His phone line was busy all night...

2. Katherine McPheever: Man, she looked and sounded great tonight. Very good but a distant second. I told people earlier that she really reminded me of Kelly Clarkson..not in her looks so much as her voice and the way she's coming on in the competition. Let's see if she can hold it with consistency like Kelly did. Her phone line was not busy.

3. Paris Bennett: Sure came back after that dreadfully awful performance of Congo last week. Yikes, that was bad. This was much better. Barely made third though.

4. Melissa McGhee: Great performance, great voice, great look. Didn't even see her mess up. Her phone line was not busy.

5. Chris Daughtery: Great performance, ok vocals. He did the song just like Chili Peppers, but not quite as good. I was disappointed with his performance tonight, but the dude is a bonifide star. He's going to be extremely successful.

6. Mandiesel: Pretty boring, and sounded bad except when she went Diva on it...where it was fantastic. I'm starting to wonder if she's a bit one-trick, where she can only belt it out. Wasn't overly impressed.

7. Lisa Tucker: Boring, I know the judges loved her but I'm starting to really think she has no personality. She looks a bit forced too. Her voice is very good, but she bored me except for the end, and a couple times in the middle.

8. Elliot Yamin: Elliot, shame on you. I thought you'd rock this song, but it was boring. The band was really overpowering him (it did most of the singers tonight) and he didn't seem to be quite on. Too bad, because I expected him to knock this one out of the park. He did not.

9. Ace Young: Ace, jeez get a grip. It's Stevie Wonder, no need to cry, unless he saved your life. Plus you were off key and very poor. And this is from a guy who thinks you're really good...oh, and you're safe this week. Duh.

10. Kellie Pickler: SHUT UP!! JUST SHUT UP!!! You sang like crap, it was bad and you looked terrible. Your shoes were ugly with your dress and shut up about them. Shut up about being a hick. Shut up about being a fake hick. SHUT UP! She's safe.

11. Bucky: Best song for you to sing...good job on it but you're the 11th best person in this group, so you'll be voted off. Sorry. You seem like one hell of a cool guy and it's sad that Chicken Little will be there when you won't.

Non-Existent Finalist: Chicken Little at least picked a song this week that didn't have a lot of S sounds to showcase his lisp. He danced like a dork, still thinks he's a thex thymbol (I am really starting to wonder if he actually is believing the hype). When people are praising you because you "sang in key" or "kept on time" and defend you when Simon says you suck by claiming you "weren't THAT bad" then you really sucked. And now you are getting SASSY with Simon? Chicken Little, you little shoescrape, just **** and nod your dorky little head and go back to the couches. You've got America voting for you for now, but when you cross the line from Chicken Little to full of himself sassy dork, you'll finally be off the show. Safe...for now.

Taylor was great. I was dog-tired and falling asleep and not in a great mood last night, but I found myself smiling when he preformed. I like that guy.

2. Katherine McPheever: Man, she looked and sounded great tonight. Very good but a distant second. Something about her bugs me. I know it was a good preformance. I know she sounded good. But I just don't like her.

3. Paris Bennett: Sure came back after that dreadfully awful performance of Congo last week. Yikes, that was bad. This was much better. Barely made third though.
She's fanstastic. Just friggin great.

4. Melissa McGhee: Great performance, great voice, great look. Didn't even see her mess up. Her phone line was not busy.
She looks like a rat to me.

5. Chris Daughtery: Great performance, ok vocals. He did the song just like Chili Peppers, but not quite as good. I was disappointed with his performance tonight, but the dude is a bonifide star. He's going to be extremely successful.
He is good. He's got the look and the voice, but last night's preformance left me a little flat. I think the judges hit it on the head when they said something about him having a great recording voice, but lacking in stage presence.

6. Mandiesel: Pretty boring, and sounded bad except when she went Diva on it...where it was fantastic. I'm starting to wonder if she's a bit one-trick, where she can only belt it out. Wasn't overly impressed.
She sounded down-right bad when she was just singing, but really terrific when she was belting it out. She needs to play more to her strengths.

7. Lisa Tucker: Boring, I know the judges loved her but I'm starting to really think she has no personality. She looks a bit forced too. Her voice is very good, but she bored me except for the end, and a couple times in the middle.
Yeah, pretty boring I thought. So many of these preformances seemed painfully reherarsed to me. Hers was one of them. She sounded pretty good, though.

8. Elliot Yamin: Elliot, shame on you. I thought you'd rock this song, but it was boring. The band was really overpowering him (it did most of the singers tonight) and he didn't seem to be quite on. Too bad, because I expected him to knock this one out of the park. He did not.
He sounded great standing at the piano with Stevie. He sounded okay on stage.

9. Ace Young: Ace, jeez get a grip. It's Stevie Wonder, no need to cry, unless he saved your life. Plus you were off key and very poor. And this is from a guy who thinks you're really good...oh, and you're safe this week. Duh.
I didn't see his preformance, but I heard it fom the kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised--I thought he sounded really good. And, all he needs is a half-decent signing voice to make it to the final 4, IMO. The female-voting public will make sure that he gets all the screen time he can.

10. Kellie Pickler: SHUT UP!! JUST SHUT UP!!! You sang like crap, it was bad and you looked terrible. Your shoes were ugly with your dress and shut up about them. Shut up about being a hick. Shut up about being a fake hick. SHUT UP! She's safe.
I like the Pickler. She doesn't sing but okay, but I think she's funny. And, I didn't think the dress was bad.

11. Bucky: Best song for you to sing...good job on it but you're the 11th best person in this group, so you'll be voted off. Sorry. You seem like one hell of a cool guy and it's sad that Chicken Little will be there when you won't.
Bucky seems really intimidated by the stage. Really uncomfortable. I like his voice okay, though.

Non-Existent Finalist: Chicken Little at least picked a song this week that didn't have a lot of S sounds to showcase his lisp. He danced like a dork, still thinks he's a thex thymbol (I am really starting to wonder if he actually is believing the hype). :lmao: I agree with everything, except for the part about him being safe. I think he's gone. He is supremely annoying.

I think Taylor did a great job - but am growing more and more tired of the woos, soul patrol and the violent jerking around - what was once endearing is becoming annoying

katherine, paris and lisa to me all did a pretty good job up there

chris continues to understand the contemporary aspects of the show - he was getting drowned out by the band pretty good and I had a hard time making out anything that was going into our out of the chorus - but he's good enough to survive the theme shows

melissa sounded a lot better than I expected - too bad she screwed up the song right off the bat - hopefully her finish was good enough to keep her around another week - not tops on the show by any means, but enjoyable

mandisa - i think she lacks a lot of control in her voice - as stated above sounds great when belting, but has trouble going through a lot of the more basic stuff

elliot - sounded a lot better with stevie - average performance

kellie - she'll stick around despite an average showing

bucky - was his most entertaining performance to me - but overall i can't see him going to far - maybe the country crowd will keep him around

ace - i thought it was boring - i find him boring - in general I hate falsetto and screetching guy singing - even when done well I hate it

kevin - i don't think he is taking himself that seriously - i think it's pretty much acting up to the hype because he knows it isn't true - with that said, i'm sick of him and his nasal lisp going through songs - i want him gone

makeup and hairstyling was pretty bad last night

the band needs to fade back and on a couple songs the backup singers seemed to outshine the actual singers

they definitely slanted this show to be stronger in the second hour

theme weeks are weird - i have a ton of respect for stevie as a musician, but if your contest is to identify a contemporary musical talent while putting on entertaining TV - he probably isn't your best choice - his songs are tough and make the singers look poor, they aren't exactly well known by the younger crowd
