No ofcourse I don't think they would be dropped.... Because it was a hiccup and outside of that one game they have been awesome... now if Kentucky had that one point win, and also lost to teams like San Diego and Virginia Commonwealth.. then it becomes a pattern that I would assume the committee would look at... you don't agree?.
No, because a win is a win. Margin of victory is not computed into RPI. And VCU isn't a bad team by the way.

and there is a HUUUGE difference between TCU and the University Northern Colorado a D-2 school until just last year, and is currently in the a middle of the pack team in the Big Sky Conference....
We'll see, they play next week. And FYI - Northern Colorado has already beaten two MWC teams.

Same goes with ASU.. If they had beaten San Fransico by a point and needed a last second shot to do it, I (as an ASU alum/fan) would even hold it against them as more of a negitive than a positive.. A win is a win over legit D1 schools like TCU though...
Unfortunately the selection committee doesn't see it that way, so you're preaching to nobody here. Human polls take what you're saying into consideration but RPI isn't the BCS, it's purely statistical.

ASU will probably need to go undefeated at home and go at least .500 on the road in the Pac-10 to get in. There are so many good mid-major teams that look more deserving at this point. I think Mao is dead on ... at least 25 wins and/or win the tournament.

Right now ASU looks like a 18-to-20 win team against a meager sked. They will need to discover a few more rebounds per game to finish in the upper tier of the conference, I think, or they will lose games they shouldn't.

I went to the UCSB game tonight and it was a three-point shooting contest. The Gauchos looked to be running the exact type of defense we use and we got almost nothing in the paint. Fortunately, Kuksiks was out of his mind in the first half and Abbot and McMillan hit a few in the second. But, the Devils showed almost no desire to drive and create, at all. I was also surprised that Lockett played so little. I thought he would be helpful in attacking the middle of that zone.

OKlahoma's got at least two NBA players on their roster - they're just a sophomore and some freshmen. They'll be very good by the end of the year especially with Capel at the helm.

Oklahoma lost to UTEP tonight at home by 15.... I was a little worried after they smoked UofA that my wallet my get 100 bucs lighter... But I am sure now more than ever Oklahoma is NOT a TOurnament team this year.. and no it is not just because of tonight, it is the pattern they have shown and when you watch the team they are just not very good...

BTW interesting note, Christian Polk former ASU and Deer Valley HS grad had a career high for UTEP tonight... glad to see he is getting some PT in the Pan handle...

Can I get in on this?

KU lost to UMass last year in KC (technically neutral court). A-10 7-9 conference, 12-18 overall.

Tulsa is preseason CUSA #2 team predicted to make the NCAA tournament and has an NBA caliber center. A loss is not that unexpected, although 21 is a lot of points.

yes.. yes you can... but if I win, you have to become a diehard ASU fan :D

ASU had a solid performance form what I have pieced together from stories and friends who attended the game, solid albeit sloppy from what I hear...

Hard to get up for a game like this, but they took care of business and won by almost 30...

I agree with AJ, would like to have seen more of Lockett, but it is what it is... The devils have one more game before the PAC-10 schedule, and they should be 10-3 as expected going into the season...

Wow pretty clear ASU wasn't expecting UCLA to play 2-3 zone today, that and the insane 3 point shooting(Drago 5-5 in the first half) was the difference in the game.

UCLA had played zone exactly one possession all year before today so you can understand why Sendek didn't expect it. I expected a loss precisely because UCLA had shot so poorly against zones this year so of course they shoot almost 80% in the first half.

Nearly blew a 16 point lead as ASU rallied and then UCLA missed FT's down the stretch. Can't believe they called an intentional on Glasser grabbing Anderson, and then didn't call one on Shipp when he hammed Nelson going in for a dunk making absolutely no play on the ball. That nearly won ASU the game Nelson missed both FT's and ASU got the ball down 2.

Surprising win today for me, I had pretty much assumed a double digit loss.

I just have to vent... That first half was one of the worst halves of basketball I have ever seen at the colligate level on the offensive side.. REALLY ridiculous just how bad they were... The ESPN box score lists them as having only 6 TO, I counted 9, and they shot 29% for the half...

They have GOT to step it up in the 2nd half if they want ANY CHANCE at this game which could end up being imparrtive at seasons end....

And if for no other reason, I don't want to vomit, which may just happend if our offense has any resemblence in the final 20 minutes to the first...

On the bright side, Kuksiks has now gone 2 complete halves without scoring a point, 2nd half UCLA, first half USC. Highly unlikely he won't start scoring in the 2nd half.

I have seen 8th grade basketball teams with a more efficiant offense than ASU tonight... It was the single worst offensive performance I have seen in my entire sports life, and quite possibly the ugliest game overall...

Disgusting is the only work appropriate for the game tonight....

Sendek needs to do something about turning the offense around, and quick...

Jeez that game was painful to watch. Really frustrating to think you have a good shot at going 2-0 on the trip and end up 0-2, bleck.

According to a paper in Reno current Duke player Olek Czyz is going to be at Wells Fargo Arena this weekend to visit ASU. He's down to choosing between ASU and UNR for where he's going to transfer. I really hope ASU can land this kid, the Devils desperately need all the size they can get and this kids athletic too. In the short run he could play in the post for the Devils and if and when they get a more traditional Center that can play (that may be Pateev by his Jr year, who knows) this kid can hopefully play the position Kuksiks does now.

Here's his profile from a few years back in Scout:

Rivals:

Some Youtube highlights:

If he transfers before ASUs spring semester starts I think he'd be eligible to play the 2nd half of next year which would be huge for ASU since they'll be relying on Pateev, Rhode and the Mountainous Mormon on the inside which isn't a very appealing prospect.

Hasn't Herb learned his lesson about taking K's frontcourt rejects?

How is this comparable? Yes its a tall guy who was at Duke, but after that the comparison falls apart. Olek is an athletic 3 or 4, Boateng is an unathletic 5.

Beautiful 17 point win over #24 Washington tonight...

Kuksiks had 27, Walker had a nice game, Abbott had 17 (a season high), and most impressively the Devils held Washington 31 points under their season average of 82..

OUT-FREAKIN-STANDING..

Wins like this will go a long way come tourney time...

ASU had 5 wins in 11 years over ranked opponents and now under Sendek they have 7 wins over ranked opponents. Tell me again that Sendek is not a good coach.

Walker, do you mean Lockett? Demetrius didn't play much.

I chose a good game to attend. The offense took some time off in an otherwise brilliant performance. Good effort by the guys tonight. At times they look so good; hopefully they can keep it up.

Sunday's game is at such a bad time...I'll be watching the playoffs. Maybe they'll have the Devils on on one TV at Buffalo Wild Wings, if it's televised.
