Unfortunately Wiz still sucks

Signed,

Azsouthendzone, NJCardFan, Rats, Mitch, and "the gang";)

Had too. HELL FREAKING YEAH! Now go get John Fox, Mike Nolan, or someone who has some damn pelts on the wall.
What a way to act like an adult.

However, Whiz's gets a few points for this move.

I'm being overcome by the overwhelming desire to type (get ready for it)...

In Whiz I Trust.

Maybe I should go lie down for a minute. But if Grimm gets the boot so help me I'm going to put it in my signature.

"Whisenhunt said he couldn’t rule out further changes on the coaching staff, but he added that he wasn’t saying that meant there would be."

"It would make sense that a new coordinator from the outside may want to further tweak the defensive staff, making more turnover possible once the new coordinator was hired."

"Whisenhunt has also talked to Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler in the past about the position."

“As I sit here right now, I have a couple of names (in mind), but I don’t even know the availability of those guys,” Whisenhunt said.

Interesting quotes from Urbans article. Especially Wiz already having names in mind, which tells me he may have been thinking about this for longer then he will admit to. Could be reading way to much into that though. I also like that he mentions hiring the DC before MAYBE deciding on other changes. Giving a new DC a voice in that would be very smart, or keeping the rest of them all together to make the transition easier for what could be a very shortened offseason to learn a new DC's ways.

You beat me to it. Can't say it was unexpected though.

Good move by Wiz. I am hopeful that Wiz will make will choose a stronger replacement for Davis than he did for Pendergast.

Kevin Greene is indeed intriguing, as some have posted.

I know I'm just a girl but I keep telling you guys... Whiz is never going to telegraph his moves. N.E.V.E.R. He didn't tell us about Beanie being as hurt as he was and he wasn't/isn't going to tell us who gets axed until he is good and ready.

And my bet is "good and ready" means he's already talked to who he wants as replacement(s) and he's trying to wrangle the $$ they've asked for out of Mr. B or Michael or Graves or Whomever.

Dear Baby Jesus: I don't ask for much but please let us have Kevin Greene. Please!

First off, let me say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Now I'm going to pull a Lee Corso on you and say "Not so fast!"

First, let's not forgot that most of us don't think this is the only firing in order. Are you confident that retaining Grimm is the right move? I'm not. This is a step in the right direction, a big step, but it shouldn't end there. Also, I want to see who KW brings in before I sing hallelujah. Most disturbing to me, though, is this quote: Saying it was “not something I was planning to do,” Whisenhunt said it had taken a few days to interview players and coaches and review the season before making the decision. followed by this one: “This is painful,” Whisenhunt said. “(But) we will do the best job we can to fill it.” Now maybe I'm wrong, and there's every possibility that I am, but this sounds like something KW was told to do, not something he wanted to do. He may not have learned his lesson.

But hey, whatever the reasons are, Bill Davis is gone, and that was crucial, absolutely crucial, moving forward. So thank you, whomever is responsible.

Well, I have the same problem with this subject as I do with talking politics. There's a segment of society that believes if you don't agree with them 100%, you must be stupid. This is not the way I think. If we're discussing a subject and I don't agree, the only thing I can do is make my argument and back it up with facts. If this doesn't change you mind, so be it. I won't call you stupid or call you a name or mock you in any way unless you decide to sink to that level then I will respond in kind. The person who decided to bring Whiz up in this conversation did so without any provocation of any kind by me or anyone else. I guess they thought they were being funny when, in truth, it shows the lack of maturity. Maybe that's how they were raised, I don't know.

I'm really not trying to bring down the joy of the thread, but something in the article jumped out at me. Am I reading it right?

Wiz saying that he was not prepared to let Davis go as he went into these post season interviews, and only after speaking with players did he realize that the move had to be made. Is that what I just read? Wow.

I know, he did make the move. Good. But I'm not liking his having to be convinced by the players. Just kinda raises a red flag about his judgment. IMO.

Again, he did step up and make a move that needed to be done, so kudos to him for that.

I think you are reading way to much into that. It was the standard PC answers to give, nothing more nothing less. It is basically the same comments all HC's give when they let a coach go, "Hard decision, blah, blah, blah, blah ......"

It's both enlightening and worrisome. It's enlightening because it's good to know that he does listen to his players but it's worrisome that he evidently didn't see Davis as a problem.

rats, you know as well as i do that Graves ain't going anywhere.

Sadly, without him being gone we will not aquire enough talent to win our division IMO. Larry needs to get a new deal this next season and the GM needs to get that done. I don't want to intrust that to Graves. MB needs to find a way to oust him and get a top talent at GM.

Immature joke compared to your immature insults. Which is more immature?

Everyone is a bunch of whinny cry babies and Detective John Kimble would not deal with any of this in his class.:p

I really don't think you guys should feel so happy about Davis leaving. I have a sinking feeling in my gut that Whiz may be thinking about his great job as our OC and why not just take on the DC job himself. He can do both better than anyone he might hire.

Too bad Whiz is not as loyal to his players as he is towards the coaches; he benches the players immediately for screw-ups. This should have happened 8 games ago. Que the Whiz kids.

Bryan Robinson and Alan Faneca come immediately to mind in rebuttal.

I got the text from KTAR while I was working out! I suddenly had more energy. :D

I didn't know that someone getting fired could make me so happy. I almost feel guilty. Almost.

Excellent news. Especially the part about Davis' replacement coming from outside the organization. It seems like the defense tuned out the entire coaching staff a long time ago. Whis and the FO need to start valuing talent over loyalty.

In other news, the Vikings are interviewing Singletary and McDaniels for coaching positions. That could be one wacky staff.

Boy was I wrong about that-----I am very happy though, and I certainly hope this means a return to wrap-up tackling and 3 and outs as opposed to (hit-and-separate mentality) so we have a chance to recover the ball. I really like our specail teams, and it just makes more sense to me to rely on a quick defensive stoppage of downs and a punt to keep our defense fresh and strong. With a real QB, and a return to possession football, we have a better chance of holding the score down.
