now Move Grimm into OC like a real NFL team. Whis likes the offensive structure he says, Well I don't. One person to coordinate the offense is better than splitting it in 2. Mike Miller got a pass, but didn't coordinate many completed passes I should say.

Whiz needs a strong voice to keep him in check, He flat throws to much, no decent DC wants his defense hammered that much. I wonder who whiz has in mind?

A RGDC and A PGDC so they can break their arms off twisting up to point fingers at the other one,

"that was a run play- not until he tucked it in and scrambled- well he didn't cross the LOS - didn't matter he din'tt pass it- he was gonna-no -yes no- yes-no yes
You big bully I'm telling daddy- no not Daddy Hes the RGC on offense- He'll have a fit!"

who in hell is accountable on offense? Bill Bidwill everybody blames bil, He can take it, He is a tough SOB. ole Bill is!

rats, you know as well as i do that Graves ain't going anywhere.
Neither is Grimm unless someone hires him as HC. Did you happen to watch Whiz's end of year presser? He was specifically asked about Grimm and you could tell by his response that Grimm is held in high regard. For those of us who want Grimm, not going to happen.

How did the Kevin Greene bandwagon gain so much steam? Is it his rep as a player, or coach, because do any of us know what kind of qualifications, as a coach, that he has to be named a DC? For the defense, I want a proven guy in the 3-4 like Butler. He's been in that system for 8-10 years, has continually produced a high level of play from the LB's, and has been tutored by one of the best in LeBeau. I'm okay with Whiz going with an unproven Miller on the offensive side of the ball because that's where Whiz's experience is and Miller will basically be running a version of Whiz's offense. On the defensive side it's a different story.

Not sure why I am so pessimistic about this firing? He sucks.

I guess I remember Pendergast sucking too, at times equally as much as Davis....

Unless or until the Cardinals tackling improves dramatically, a new DC is not the answer to our prayers. The Cardinals have to have one of the worst tackling defenses in the entire NFL.

First off, let me say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Now I'm going to pull a Lee Corso on you and say "Not so fast!"

First, let's not forgot that most of us don't think this is the only firing in order. Are you confident that retaining Grimm is the right move? I'm not. This is a step in the right direction, a big step, but it shouldn't end there. Also, I want to see who KW brings in before I sing hallelujah. Most disturbing to me, though, is this quote: Saying it was “not something I was planning to do,” Whisenhunt said it had taken a few days to interview players and coaches and review the season before making the decision. followed by this one: “This is painful,” Whisenhunt said. “(But) we will do the best job we can to fill it.” Now maybe I'm wrong, and there's every possibility that I am, but this sounds like something KW was told to do, not something he wanted to do. He may not have learned his lesson.

But hey, whatever the reasons are, Bill Davis is gone, and that was crucial, absolutely crucial, moving forward. So thank you, whomever is responsible.

I am in the same boat, I will wait to see who the replacement is before I start jumping with joy.

I also share the same concern that Whiz iss ill prepared to be a real head coach. Based on the comments he made it seems quite apparent that he had to be convinced that a change needed to be made.

My take on Whiz is he is not mentally tough enough to make the decisions that are best for the team. He is unable to separate personal relationships from the business side.

A head coach needs to have the intestinal fortitude to make the decisions that benefit the team regardless of his relationship with the person affected by it. That is why I don't see Grimm going anywhere. This relationship is stronger than he seem to have to Davis.

Let's face it in many ways a head coach has to be cold hearted and make the choices that need to be made and I am not sure Whiz is there.

Ya'll are clearly speculating about him having to be convinced of this. A case of people seeing what they want to see.

And that may have something to do with the lack of respect the players had for the guy. Not that I'm giving them an excuse.

Besides a good game planner, we also need someone to come in here and whip those guys into shape and tell them who's boss.

But this was great news for my Friday morning.

I'll say it right now. If we fired Bill Davis to bring in Teryl Austin, I am going to be pissed.

And that wouldn't ALL be Wiz's fault either. Why can't the Bidwils just pony up and bring in that intense DC with past success to get that side of the ball to where it should be?

Time to Stir Up the Next Hornets Nest...

So...If we could hire Mike Singletary as DC, would you do it?

Well, all I know is that Whisenhunt said he wasn't planning on firing Davis. So take that for what it's worth.

So maybe you have a point... EDIT: Per Somers, choice was Whiz' alone.

Nope. The guy has never been a DC.

I do not think he has the ability to gameplan, so it would be almost re-hiring Davis.

It would be worse than Davis! I'd be OK to bring in Singletary to make a few motivational speeches & that's about it. He has no concept of x's & 0's. Whatever may come out of his mouth may sound great, but there's no substance. I'd make an analogy, but I'll leave politics out of this. The sad thing is that I can't remember the Cardinals D ever being good & I go back a long way. Even with the great Larry Wilson & Roger Wehrli, our D sucked. Our D was pretty good in Ryan's 1st year as coach & perhaps in Bugle's last year, when Fritz Shurmur was the DC. Whiz did a great job of changing the OVERALL culture of this franchise, but he certainly didn't change the culture on the defensive side of the ball. We really, really need an experienced DC with proven success. This will be the most important decision that Whiz has had to make in his young career as a HC.
