This just might be the deal Duffy discussed. The Suns get a five in MO (despite his laziness he is a true center) and another perimeter shooter in WS. Marion is the obvious key for the Wolves and his max contract comes off the books for the Suns. Although, Wally has a big contract with like 3 years remaining. The Suns recoup a pick (Spurs own their 2005 choice). When you analyze the deal you can see why it is being discussed.

I'm not convinced that it solves the Suns problems. I really don't like the Kandi man's work ethic and don't see him as enough of an improvement over Voskuhl to worth it. I love Wally (he went to m Alma Mater), but he not as valuable as Marion in the "run and gun" offense the Suns will be operating.

That being said, it is not an irrational trade proposal. It is more reasonable than about 90% of what we end up see being suggested. It's just not a good one.

This is an interesting trade idea. I'm not sure If I like it, but it's definately not that lopsided in anybody's favour. I can see why the Wolves want to get rid of Candy, I remember in the playoffs he was rarely used. Ervin Johnson got more playing time.

Wally would give us more outside shooting which we need, but we would also be losing a lot on the defensive end.

Depending on Wally's & Candy's contracts, I might do it. Anybody know how long/how much their contracts are?

I like the Candyman for an underachieving piece of crap. We need more for Marion plain and simple.

I seem to remember Colangelo really liking Olawakandi and trying to trade for him before.

If we sign Q...

Why not JJ for Kandi and a pick?

I am sure Kandi can be had for less. Like Howard and a top pick ala Chicago.

I hope you all realize that the NBA News Forum is just another message board. The person who posted this "rumor" up over there, well, it was that members first post on that board.

So, I'm not sure I buy this.

I am sure it is just a rumor. But it is one that makes sense...especially since I do recall Colangelo has long had an infatuation with Olawakandi.

When Olawakandi was in the draft, the suns tried very hard to move up and take him or trade for him on draft day.

hehe well candyman may like the trade in that he wouldnt have to worry about having amare turn him into another posterchild except in practice.

in the half court i can understand the value behind bring wally in. he opens the court up so that it will be harder for teams to double and triple team amare.

i am not sure how much i like the deal but i can understand it. we also have a very good trainer who may be able to bring something out of candyman is iveroni. i dont know that it will happen but it may.

NBA News Forum is reporting that the Suns and Timberwolves are working on a trade. Here are the details:

Minnesota trades:
SF Wally Szczerbiak
C Michael Olowokandi
2005 1st round draft pick
2006 2nd round draft pick

Minnesota receives:
SF Shawn Marion
C Jake Voskuhl

This might be the deal that Duffy is referring reporting. Stay tuned.

Wow. Hmm... If we DO get Q then I seriously consider this trade.

If they really want to run then wally doesnt make sense. In the open court Marion is better. It makes sense that the C's like the Kandi man though. Then again, this is just a message board rumor, so lets not get crazy. I personally hope this doesnt go down. I'd rather just sign or trade for JP, if possible. Plus is the kandi man known as defensive center? I never thought he was, but maybe he is.

You can't run all the time.

If the Suns are going to succeed, they are going to have to be a team that can run or grind it out in the half court. I think they are going for offensive flexibility.

That said, I still don't want to trade Marion.

Talk about overpaid. Wally isn't worth Marion and isn't even healthy. Kandi was HORRIBLE last season. I would rather have Jake Voshkul considering the money they get.

We would have to trade for Zo. He has 3/18M$ left on his contract. Since the Nets are being cheap they would probably take something like Eisley 2yrs/13M$ and 3M$ cash for Zo. With a cheap throw in like Vujanic maybe or Jacobsen or so.
I know the CBA has changed since then, but Wilt Chamberlain wanted to play for the Suns and the Lakers held his rights since he was still under contract when he retired. Back then they said LA could renounce his rights and he would be free to sign with anyone. However, even though LA had Jabbar in his prime, they said they would not renounce Wilt, and he would have to play in LA if he played anywhere. Wilt didn't want to back up Jabbar, so his comeback ended before it really began.

I went to NBA trade checker and the trade meets the conditions of the CBA. This might be cooking guys!

That trade is made up by Minnesota fans.
LOL

That guy posted his trade on realgm, bbb.net etc.

That will never happen. We don't need Wally at all , much less than Marion. He is even more overpaid. He has injury issues. He has character issues not getting along with KG.

Guys, you're forgetting something. Gentry-Olowokandi was the worst pairing in NBA history. Ever. I don't think I'm kidding.
