Have to laugh about the complaints on holding on to $35M, but I can only imaging the posts if we had spent it on 'rooms' that didn't suffer season ending injuries.
What exactly is funny about sitting on 35 million dollars of cap room when we now have arguably the worst pass rush room in the league… as if we didn’t previously.Have to laugh about the complaints on holding on to $35M, but I can only imaging the posts if we had spent it on 'rooms' that didn't suffer season ending injuries.
Be the Niners - good luck. A couple of good drafts alone don't get you anywhere close to the level of talent the Niners have on both sides of the ball. That’s the path the Cardinals are trying to follow.
This narrative about the Niners is dead wrong. The Niners actually spent a lot in those first two years in FA and made a huge trade to get Jimmy G. I detailed all of it last season in a post showing just how active they were in FA, improving in year 1 from a 2 win team to 6 wins immediately, with a lot of FA guys and making a huge trade for Jimmy G and handing him a contract that made him one of the highest paid QBs in the league. The reason they only won 2 games the next year is because they got slaughtered by injuries.Bidwills have owned this team for 75 years & are tired of starting from scratch every 4 years. Year to year league? Shanahan won 6 games in year 1, then 2 games in year 2. But, they accomplished their goal of getting rid of those players that didn’t fit their new culture. In year 3, they went 13-3 & went to the SB. During those first 2 seasons, the Niners didn’t spend much in FA & built directly through the draft. That’s the path the Cardinals are trying to follow.
Shanahan won 4 games in year 2. His QBs were CJ Beathard and Nick Mullens. Gannon won as many with Kyler Murray.Shanahan won 6 games in year 1, then 2 games in year 2.
They didn’t have that talent when Shanahan took over.Be the Niners - good luck. A couple of good drafts alone don't get you anywhere close to the level of talent the Niners have on both sides of the ball.
The Niners didn’t lose a star QB in year 2 like we did with Murray. With Murray last year, we win 7-8 games, even with the talent less D we had. This narrative about the Niners is dead wrong. We did nothing like the Niners in Shananahan’s first season or his second off-season. And we didn’t improve in Monti’s first season from a record better than the previous season winning a wretched 4 with Keim in his last disastrous year and 4 with Monti’s first year.
Now, hopefully the bajillion picks we made this year turn the tide for us, but there is nothing showing that we’re following any kind of Niners model that got them to where they are now or were in Shanny’s second and third seasons.
First, we didn’t lose a star QB in Year 2. Murray was out in Year 1 with Monti. It’s really hard to have a solid discussion when you’re this demonstrably wrong about basic facts about our own team. The Niners didn’t lose a star QB in year 2 like we did with Murray. With Murray last year, we win 7-8 games, even with the talent less D we had.
Yes - and you're advocating for acquiring ALL of that talent in the draft. Unless Monti is Ron Wolf 2.0, that aint happening. They didn’t have that talent when Shanahan took over.
One of the funniest lines in awhile...1 of 2 times in all of their AZ existence is apparently something to scoff at.It did contribute to us getting to an NFC Championship game, but
Deranged take.Shanahan won 4 games in year 2. His QBs were CJ Beathard and Nick Mullens. Gannon won as many with Kyler Murray.
I wouldnt categorize the Niners as a team built through FA.This narrative about the Niners is dead wrong. Yeah, good thing Monti really went all out to strengthen one of the most important units on the teamyou just know going into training camp that you will lose a starter to injury for most if not all of the season -- it hits nearly every team
lets hope thats the last
bummer for BJ.
An absolutely horrid pick and, what's worse, Monti seemed supremely apathetic to getting any other kind of impact players at edge. But hey, at least we locked down ZavenTwo years, two knee injuries. Not sure we’re gonna get much out of him at all
2 years too late for Monti. He's criminally neglected edge.Upcoming draft is strong at edge. Unfortunately doesn’t help us this year.
Tough. It's Moti's job to do it and I'm not cutting him any breaks. If he had tried to get some other top edge prospects in here, through trades or FA, and it didn't work out, you can cut him some slack. But he basically drafted Beej, shrugged, and said "I'm good" for two years.Arguably this is one of the hardest positions to get. It's not like good pass rushers are just growing on trees out there. The DC is going to have to draw up better pass rush schemes. Probably going to have to trade or pick up a cast off. Loading up on draft picks, they need to draft more of these guys.
Yep, and he's supposed to be our inside force. Now Rallis will have to try to square peg/round hole him in at edge too much.Fair is fair.
Darius Robinson has to be a force immediately for this defense to even be respectable.
Robinson is supposed to be used primarily inside, from my understanding.I’m upset about BJ, but we didn’t pass in the draft. We took edge players in both drafts.
Parsing words now. We're talking about edge specifically. And no, our 1st rond pick is supposed to be primarily an inside rusher. So, a 2nd rounder and chicken ish for two years was Monti's big plan.It isn’t passing on the position. Our first round pick is also an attempt to improve pass rush right?
So you're pleased with what Monti's done for the edge position in 2 years. M'kay. Don't want to hear you whine when we can't touch opposing QBs because you are on record as being A-okay with it.Monti was hired to create sustained success, something the Bidwill family has NEVER created. And you’re never going to see that if you spend the stupid money that was out there in FA this year. Fact is, MO is going to build this team through the draft, and there wasn’t enough talent at the Edge position this past draft. Losing Ojulari hurts, but I’m sure MO has a backup plan.
So, hopium and fingers in ears about any other way to help the team. Yep, that's the Cardinals way alright.Yep. Simple and true! Bidwill & MO are not going to break away from their goal of sustained success. Michael is tired of starting from scratch ever 4 years.
lol Neither did we.The Niners didn’t lose a star QB in year 2 like we did with Murray. With Murray last year, we win 7-8 games, even with the talent less D we had.
The regular whiners are out in full force . Dumb to argue with the clueless
