No, S11's comment was he would pass for 3000 yards at a 60% completion percentage.

I will gladly take that bet! If your game?

This arguement is absolutely assinine. Cherry-picking the best late-round QBs and compaing them to the 50% success rate for 1st-round QBs makes no sense. Here are the QBs taken after the second round in the past decade or so:

2003:
5 3 24 88 Dave Ragone Texans Louisville

That's--what?--85 quarterbacks that were drafted after the first two rounds. Of those 85, you can point to only eight(!) that had even mild success in the NFL. From five rounds.

You're much more likely to be stuck with the next Jeff Kelly (yes, that Jeff Kelly) by selecting a QB in the seventh round than the next Tim Rattay or whomever.

Thanks for the info. That post contained about as much info as we have gotten from all the local media combined.

No problem with that at all.

There were some who suggested last year out of camp that he was ahead of Josh anyway.

I love how these McCown threads get lives of their own! Gets down to a "Your MAMA....." argument. Save this thread for bizarre analogies and vacuous stats ad nauseum.

My opinion, for what it's worth (probably not much), is that Green seems content to go with Josh as his starter and that will be that. Unless he's really, really misdirecting he isn't going to take a QB at #3. So, this argument is going to boil down to woulda, coulda, shoulda anyway (and will even if he DOES pick Ben or Eli).

This team needs talent and multiple PLAYERS. None of the draft picks, in and of themselves, will make this team a winner. Rookies are rookies and by and large excell when they are plugged in to good veterans around them. THe Cards don't have that many really good veteran players. The last "head coach" and his "million dollar coaching" staff BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! has left the cupboard bare of many quality NFL players. Denny has much to overcome regardless of how Mac said he left the team in such great shape.

Sorry, rambled on a bit....

Bottom line is Josh will most likely be the starter and Shaun King will back him up. Preston Parsons is simply some people's wet dream and probably will never start in this league. In fact, if the Cards cut him he will maybe end up in Arena League or selling insurance. Just my opinion, my aplogies for the Parsons is God Fan Club.

Let's get some defensive linemen that can play in here and forget the Eli/Ben/Whoever mania can we? I'd like to see the opponent's QB on his backside once in a while next season!

3 of the 4 names you mention WERE 1st round picks...

Jim McMahon--Bears 1st round pick, 1982
Doug Williams--Buc's 1st round pick, 1978
Jim Plunkett--Pat's 1st round pick, 1971
Trent Dilfer--Bucs 1st round pick, 1994

You got me on McMahon I apologize. But the other 3 won with other teams after the teams that drafted them cut them so those 3 teams that drafted them wasted that pick.

The smart thing to do is let other teams draft QBs #1 and develop them for you (losing games in the process) and then cut them. Then pick them up later in their careers. ;)

Yes but those players did not cost teams a #1 pick. You cannot afford to waste #1 draft pick.
They also did not cost the team years of losing and huge money investment.

Yeah and that happens soooooooooooooooooooo much!

Garcia this year....thats about it!

You want a good QB you have to draft him and develop him yourself!

Yeah it does happen a lot.

It happens with NFL teams where QBs are developed elsewhere and then move to another team:
Plunkett, D Williams, S Young, Gannon, B Johnson, J Fieldler, soon Couch, Plummer, Griese Jr., Farve, Warner, Garcia, Flutie, Collins, Hassleback, Theisman, AJ Feely, Brunell, Moon, Bledsoe, Dilfer, Chandler etc. That is just off the top of my head there are many more.

So one post was dumb and one was ******** right?

Its early yet, I am sure we can lable a few more of my posts something like assinine or stupid, or any other adjectives your little mind can conjour up.

At least admit you liked this one. Come on, I know you did!

By the way, since you would rather take personal shots at me I will steer this train wreck were it was to begin with:

Draft a QB at #3!
