In my mind, we have 2-3 spots solidified on the O-line. Colledge and Sendline are the first two. The third one still has to prove he can sustain his good play, and that's obviously Massie. If by week 8 he's still not injured and is playing like he did the first two weeks, we have our RT of the future.
Now what about those other two spots? Snyder and Batiste aren't doing well. I thought Hadnot did decent enough at the RG spot last year? Why did we think Snyder was an upgrade? Snyder is a Guard depth guy as well as Batiste for the tackles.
Just because I like the RT, C, and LG spot today doesn't mean I will next week. I am optimistic about them, but anything can happen. Every spot on this line can be upgraded. As an arm chair HC, I say the card's should draft LT in round 1 even if its a 3-5 pick reach. Round 2 should be another o-lineman. The priority should be this:
LT
RG
LG
RT
C
If they want to draft O-lineman that is. (I hope) Then of course there's free agency, we can only hope that some good tackles become UFA this offseason. If only Whiz and Grimm had the personnel to move Brown to RG then the running game would be beast. I understand why they wanted Brown on the LT spot because he was the best option we had at the position, even if he sucked at pass pro at times.
If we can obtain a good LT that can beat Levi Brown at the position, then and only then I could see the coaches moving him at RT or guard. Solve the LT position for next year, you solve the interior line as well. Imagine how beast it would be if this happened:
2013 first round pick-Colledge-Sendline-Brown-Massie
Even better, if Nate Potter could step up at LT THIS year and be consistent, that perhaps saves us a draft pick.
