Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin met with local media today to apologize to the citizens of Arizona for his unsportsmanlike conduct in last week’s game against Jacksonville.
The former Pahokee, Florida native volunteers a lot of his time in the community and wanted to let his younger fans know he is not proud of some of the decisions he made during last week’s game.
“I try to live by what I tell my younger fans,” said Boldin. “Sunday I obviously did some things that I wasn’t proud of I want to apologize to them. I feel like in a way I kind of let them down and that is something I don’t want to do. I want to be a great example for them.”
Boldin wrote a letter to officially apologize:
To the citizens of Arizona:
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for my actions on the field last Sunday, November 27th against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
During the game I was penalized twice for unsportsmanlike conduct. I realize this was a poor example for the young people who follow our games. I know that my actions must set an example, no matter what the circumstances may be.
I apologize to all Cardinals fans, residents of Arizona, the Cardinals organization, the coaching staff, and my teammates. I made a poor choice in my behavior last Sunday. In the past, I have told my young fans that it is okay to make mistakes, as long as they remain accountable for their actions and learn from them. I have learned from my mistake and will make better judgments in the future.
Sincerely,
Anquan Boldin
