5-1 without Q, against mostly BAD teams. I believe we are better WITH Q.
Offensively I say you are 100% right. If to say we traded Q for Suggs straight up then I say you are 100% wrong. We have better recievers (without Q) than most in the league, a QB who was highly considered for the MVP, and another year with the same offensive line. Put in there a second year Timmy Hightower and Beanie Wells and I say we have a top five offense without Anquan. Add a guy like Suggs and our outside linebacker core just got younger and adds depth. The defense takes a huge step up and with that high powered offense we have a MUCH better chance of another SB run.

Wouldn't we have to sign Suggs? And for how much? Q is under contract.

Yes, we would have to sign Suggs, he is currently without a contract, and has yet to sign baltimore's franchise tag. Suggs would command MUCH more than Dansby, something in the range of 8-10$M per year. Suggs would be f*kin sweet in a cardinal's jersey, i've been watching him tear it up ever since he was at ASU. Suggs being signed would immediately improve our defense, nobody would want to play us with him on the line...

Yeah but eventually we would have to resign Boldin too. Does anybody think Dansby would be happier to resign if he had a pass rusher he knew could get to the QB right next to him? It would make his job easier and he would still get his big long contract, lowering his cap number significantly. Resign A-Dub (for SURE) and then see about getting something with Suggs done. I'd rather that 7-10 mill go to a guy like Suggs than a reciever who touches the ball at most 10 times a game (on average).

And Im not trying to start a fight but the possibilites could be endless with that defense. And Suggs has said multiple times he would like to play here. I know we would love to have him.

Having to sign Suggs would all but assure Dansby's departure.

Why is that? Were paying Q just over 2 a year that will go to Suggs, gives us a POTENTIAL release of a guy like Chike (who makes 5). You got 7 already. If somehow you resign Dansby that would lower him to about 7 this year (another 2 mill off that) and we have up to just over 9 for Suggs. I would like to see if Joe could come up with a scenerio where it could all be done and still be able to get A-Dub to a long contract. If it's do-able, why not?

I agree. If it comes down to Suggs or Dansby, I take Suggs. Even more so with Dansby wanting to become a free agent (which I think if we added Suggs he would want to resign...what a linebacking core that would be).

That's a scary LB corp, would possibly be one of the best in the league. Suggs is a pass rushing specialist, and Dansby is a monster in coverage, that would be an amazing combination. I think they would compliment eachother very very well.

You could tell Dansby we traded for the equivalent of the All Madden team and he wouldn't give two craps about it, He's hell bent on hitting free agency and getting grossly OVERPAID.

...and he will get a serious dose of reality, unless he has a monster year next year. Zero pro bowls and he is demanding top 5 LB money?? Unlikely.

So then lets give the long term contract were offering to Karlos to Suggs. Here is another unlikely scenerio...Is it possible to trade Karlos? I know he is franchised but would some team be willing to take him? I'm sure we wouldn't get anything good but if we can trade for Suggs (with Boldin going to Bal), we could free up a LOT of cap space. Keep Chike and maybe move Haggans to Dansby's spot. I know this is sounding alot like Madden but if Karlos isn't going to sign long term, lets give him to somebody for a year so we can get something going with the guys we got. I would feel pretty good with somebody else in his spot if it meant we had Suggs on the outside. I still trust our offense to be good even without Q and like I said above, I would take Suggs over Dansby ANY day of the week.

Dansby isn't worried about anything but dollar signs and has made that pretty evident IMO.

(Boing!) It didn't hit me til now.

Suddenly it occurred to me that both Suggs and Heap attended ASU.

That couldn't be the reason for all the Heap & Suggs for Boldin trade buzz on the local wires and this board could it?

Heck! Why not make it a trifecta and pick up McAllister too. He's still on the open market, isn't he?

Mason's injury could be pushing Baltimore to get this done.

If they offer up a first and third, I'd do the deal.

They would have to offer a 1st and a 2nd in order to get this done. A 1st and a 3rd before the draft would have helped us this year, now we have to wait another year. The price goes up.

First of all let me say that I think this rumor is crap. It isnt based on anything but La Cava putting two news items together and trying to make it equal something. Those news items being Drew's Twitter comment and recent news about Mason most likely not being healthy again until after training camp. No actual sources of talks happening IMO.

Anyways, lets play the game. Cards have been making moves since Wiz got here planning for the future and for the present. They would have excepted just draft picks before the draft because draft picks from a few weeks ago could have helped now and in the future. Doubtful they would only except draft picks today because it only helps the future, it doesnt help them in the present. Unless of course Baltimore blows them away with loads of picks, but thats very doubtful in that regard. So Cards without a doubt will be looking for a starter to build on the present, and a draft pick to build on the future. Those are the starting building blocks of any negotiations IMO.

If that piece did turn out to be Suggs, it would without a doubt mean the last year of Dansby as a Cardinal. Yes there are multiple ways of making it work under the cap, but that is not the issue. The issue is they still want to extend Wilson, and there is no chance in hell that Wilson, Dansby, and Suggs all get extensions in one offseason, because of gauranteed money. No way at all the Cards deal out an additional 60+ mill in gauranteed money to all 3 of those guys in one offseason. Just like right now with Dansby, Wilson, and Boldin there will be an odd man out. So is that odd man out Dansby or is it Wilson. Its got to be Mr. Splash Dansby.

A team like the Rams might do a trade for draft picks, and Id take their 1st and 4th for Dansby for a5-11 Ram team picking in the top 5 next year..Whizz could turn those 2 picks into 4picks easily for us in the top 100 in next year's draft. With our own in the 30's hope fully, that makes 6-7 picks in the first 100 players, just for picking up the Rams 1st and 4th for a 1 year rental of Dansby. think longterm guys. Could it work? The Boeing 777, a miracle aircraft!

No chance.

The problem is that no team would even give up a first round pick for Dansby. Dansby is franchised, needs a new deal and has already said he is going to the highest bidder. That alone will turn any tteam away from trading more than a mid-round pick right now for his services.

The other issue would be that we nobody on the team ready to step into his spot were he traded.

:notworthy

Nail. On. Head.

I would add that I could see Paul Kruger and a 1st rounder happening as well if the Cards had him highly rated on their board.

I want Suggs though. I just don't think Baltimore is desperate enough to completely change their identity like that but thats where I would start.

You are giving Dansby too much credit. No team will give up anything for him as a 1 year rental for his salary. I'm not even sure we can trade a franchised player once he signed his tag. I think we have to sign him to a new long term contract before we can trade him. Even if we were able to do a sign and trade, I don't see any team giving up a high 1st round pick, much less with an additional pick. Dansby may be our best LB, but I think he's only a top 10 LB in the league. The Cards are overpaying for him right now. I think Graves thought he would be able to get him under a new contract, but Dansby has no intention of signing, as he's looking for a big payday next year. Graves screwed the pooch on this one and it's having a ripple effect by preventing him from extending the others.

While in a vaccum, this is a true comparrison, in reality it is NOT..

It would be which would you rather have: Suggs or Dansby +1st +3rd next year... Because the money we would save with Boldin, could give the Cards the abilty to actually work a deal with Dansby..

If we traded Boldin, it seems like we would be trading Dansby AND Boldin for Suggs....

With ALL that being said, the fact is we prolly will lose dansby regardless, and Boldin for Suggs IMO, is a good deal all in all....

How's this?

Cards get:
Suggs, LB
Clayton, WR
2010 1st and 6th

Ravens get:
Dansby
Boldin

I don't think we'll get a first and a 3rd from anyone. Dansby for Suggs is slightly a better deal for us, IMO. And Clayton allows us to keep a deep corps of WRs (Fitz, Breaston, Clayton, Doucet).
