Im a Budda fan with him throwing his body around with reckless abandon but Budda being a little guy he's going to start enduring more injuries going forward in his career. Maybe the best thing for the Cards is cutting him loose now for what they can get for this pro bowler.

You forgot to mention they want to be traded because they just passed the guaranteed portions of their contracts and that's all they care about.

If he is traded, it frees up $9 million in cap space this year and $18 million next year. His base each of the next two years are $13 and $14 million. He is only 27. I'm not sure what he could fetch though. Probably a high second.

Third choice GM can’t get this for an all-pro WR with a four-month head start but probably can for a safety? LOL.

Perhaps. Always going to be speculation. If he wanted to win he wasn't doing it here that's for sure, and he will be pushing 30 before we are ready. If we are truly going full down rebuild, as it looks, then it's smarter to move on from him now anyway.

Oh it's totally smart for Monti to not offer extensions this year, while he lets the team and payroll bottom out for the rebuild. I really don't have any issues with that. If he went to Hopkins and Baker and told both of them that they can't get extended this year they just need to play on their salaries and they don't want to do that, then that's their choice.

I dont mind this from a football perspective because I think Budda is overrated by the fan base and prefer a safety who's a ball hawk rather than a box/run support guy. But the trade request is of course another egg on the face of an organization that's spiraling down the drain.

But don't you remember the fiery speeches Budda would give right before we'd lose and give up 30+ points? The guy was a good player, a tad bit overrated by Card fans, and I'd rather have him than not, but I no longer hold him in high regard (character wise)
