This is not good. Our best offensive player and our best defensive player both want to be traded. It shows a lack of confidence in the organization. Both of our top two free agents left and with player retirements, we have replaced them with nothing.
You forgot to mention they want to be traded because they just passed the guaranteed portions of their contracts and that's all they care about.

We are going through not a rebuild...a complete organizational teardown. We can only hope it also ends in a new owner...but at the very least we need to go scorched earth.

No player wants to be a part of that if they have other options. Budda wants to win, and we aren't even trying to win. We are trying to not be a complete laughing stock. Those are different goals in the NFL. I dont blame him one bit.

If he is traded, it frees up $9 million in cap space this year and $18 million next year. His base each of the next two years are $13 and $14 million. He is only 27. I'm not sure what he could fetch though. Probably a high second.
Third choice GM can’t get this for an all-pro WR with a four-month head start but probably can for a safety? LOL.

When your top veterans are asking to leave after the first meeting you maybe didn’t hire the right people.

We aren't competing for probably at least 2 years minimum and he isn't a spring chicken.

Similar reason why getting rid of Dhop is a better organizational move. Besides, he requested it there's no use in trying to keep him.

If they presented Baker with a new guaranteed contract tomorrow, he would sign it within minutes.

Perhaps. Always going to be speculation. If he wanted to win he wasn't doing it here that's for sure, and he will be pushing 30 before we are ready. If we are truly going full down rebuild, as it looks, then it's smarter to move on from him now anyway.

Fan favorite, sure.

Oh it's totally smart for Monti to not offer extensions this year, while he lets the team and payroll bottom out for the rebuild. I really don't have any issues with that. If he went to Hopkins and Baker and told both of them that they can't get extended this year they just need to play on their salaries and they don't want to do that, then that's their choice.

It shows that they were all about themselves instead about the team. Which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what Gannon is trying to build here.

But don't you remember the fiery speeches Budda would give right before we'd lose and give up 30+ points? The guy was a good player, a tad bit overrated by Card fans, and I'd rather have him than not, but I no longer hold him in high regard (character wise)

Buddha can't even use the term snakes in the Grass, because he knows he just got out of rehab.... Allegedly.
