Can Someone Explain What You See in Rob Housler?

But that doesn't mean he's a shoe-in to produce immediately. With some guys, you've gotta give them enough opportunities and time to catch fire.

It could happen in Week1 or maybe not until Year 2. Or maybe never.

By this time next year he will be the best TE on this team...please try not to pull a Jay Novacheck and let him have a little time. Put it this way, if he was cut today there would be several teams busting there butt to pick him up asp. Size, speed, soft hands, good attitude, he has the ability to break most of the Cards TE records.

Yes, let's blame Housler for the QB's inability to get the ball to him when he's wide open. That makes sense.

I see in Housler what I saw in Roberts his rookie year. A kid coming from a little known college who has a ton of raw talent. However it will take at least a year for him to adjust to the NFL and become comfortable with the offense. Often he appears to be in the wrong position on the field or at least not where Kolb expects him to be.

The coaching staff should look at the tapes of Packers and the Patriots to see how to utilize a very good pass catching tight end. Housler, with his size and speed could be agreat tight end in the right system. Maybe Whisenhunt and Miller do not know how to use him (yet)

Agreed. He gives WR speed at the TE position. Lots of potential to like.

I think people like him because, when he's played, he seems to be open quite a bit and he has the potential to bring a new facet to the offense that has been lacking for about 10-15 years. He'll come back bigger and stronger next year and then we'll see what we have. I don't think anybody expected him to put up big numbers at all this year.

Potential. He has all of the physical tools in the world to be a good and potentially great TE. Obviously he's "disappointed" this year because he's been battling a groin issue for a few weeks and when he actually sees the field he's thrown misfires on easy TD's. Players take time to develop, at the least rob has shown he has the ability to burn his man on seam routes. He will be a weapon once him and kolb are on the same page.

I see a guy who always seems to be able to get wide open on the post route but Kolb can't hit the target. I don't blame that on Housler.

He's had 122 snaps, when you look at games he's actually played in, it's around 20 snaps a game.

Hasn't been the wreck of a blocker I'd assumed he'd be, but hasn't stood out. I only noticed that I didn't really notice him on rush plays he's been in on.

What scares me? On 17 targets he's had 9 catches for 95 yards, but he's had 3 drops on catchable balls. 1/3 of his balls hit his hands, then the turf. That's really bad and he needs to fix it. On the upside, those were earlier in the season, so here's to hoping it doesn't come up again.

Great point. I've been wondering what heck was wrong with our WRs. They're completely taken by surprise when a pass is actually on target.
