That place will be just like Sun Devil in "98 when we beat the Hawks to win the NFC West. We are going to do it this year!!!

I meant it would like '98, except this time we will beat Seattle to win the West.

Looking very, very carefully at that schedule and assessing our opponents, I can predict with a high degree of probability (91.67% and a 3.5% chance of a Type I error and 2.9% chance of a Type II error) that:

1. Barring sickness or auto breakdown or satellite failure, I will be at every home game and watch every away game live;

2. We will lose some games and win some;

3. I will enjoy watching the season unfold and will enjoy the games.

I think the team's play and record will improve from last year. By how much will be a blast to watch.

Three out of four on the road to start the season flat out sucks.

No kidding. WTH?

The NFL used to say the scheduling of early road games was because of the heat.

What's the excuse now? :bang:

Just flat out ridiculous.

Douche bag Jason Cole's Best/Worst of the season matchups:

Worst: Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals: This game has a strong chance to be an all-fraud game. Both teams have a good chance to enter this game 3-1, giving false hope to fans of both teams (not sure if there are enough left with either team to fill up a movie theater, combined). Truth is that both teams are at a crossroads at quarterback and could still be in the midst of figuring out who is the guy. Arizona is hoping Matt Leinart steps to the front ahead of Kurt Warner, but it’s hard to tell if Leinart really takes this football stuff seriously. The Bills think Trent Edwards is the guy, but fellow youngster J.P. Losman still wants a shot.

Worst: Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have ended up in the worst game category three times, which really isn’t attributable to them. They’re a better team than that, but they do have some really ugly matchups and this is yet another one. Worse, this game is on Thanksgiving night, featured on the NFL Network. Why that is, I’m not sure. It’s not like these teams are still division rivals. Anyway, it’s going to be ugly. The Eagles defense is going to blitz the heck out of either Matt Leinart or Kurt Warner and neither will handle it well.

Isn't anyone else pissed about the thanksgiving game? It's on NFL Network!!!

Does everyone here have Direct TV? Why is no one else as pissed off as I am? It's total ********.. one game that I just won't be able to see no matter what. The Cardinals play on Thanksgiving and none of us get to see it.. what a bunch of crap.

**** the NFL Network! God I'm pissed. :(

Here in the Valley, COX carries NFL Network. Also, Thanksgiving night is totally awesome for going to bars.

But I don't think you can just order one network can you? You need to order a package in order to get that channel I believe.

I dunno. I think you might have to get Digital Cable with the Sports Tier. But you said that there's No Way that you can get the game "no matter what." At least if you live in Phoenix, that's not the case.

If you're in the Valley, they'll broadcast the game on one of the local networks (Channel 15?). If you're not, then you're going to have to find a sports bar, or upgrade your cable.

But I know that there are some places where it's physically impossible to get DirecTV, so at least you have access to NFLN.

No, that's the problem. That game won't be broadcast locally.

If NFL Network got that game, it won't be on local TV here. That's why I'm so pissed.

Here's the way it works. If you don't have NFL Network, you will still see the game if you live in the EXACT media market of the home or visiting team. What I mean by this is that secondary markets are out of luck. So for the Cardinals-Eagles game, if you live in the Phoenix market, you don't have to worry about a thing, you'll see the game. If you live in the Tucson market, you're likely out of luck unless you go to a bar.

Sorry. I wasn't sure if you'd read the whole thread or not. I hope this clears things up. I believe that the NFL rule is that away games HAVE to be broadcast, for free, in local areas.

I'm 90+% sure that when the Cards played on the road on Monday night last year, they simulcast the game on Channel 15, the local ABC affiliate.

If you're not happy with the way it works, you should do what I did: E-mail John McCain. He's on the Senate Commerce Committee, and so he has more pull on these issues than the usual congressman or senator. McCain has been remarkably bad at representing his state in the Senate, but if he hears enough about this from fans and constituents, he almost has to do something about it.

I contacted his office regarding the DirecTV monopoly on Sunday Ticket, as well.

Wow.. thanks Daisy.. and Nighthawk.. I never heard that before. I thought that NFL Network purchased exclusive rights to the broadcast, if that's not the case, then all is well in my world.

I just don't want to miss any games this year. Thanks again for the info, you have made my morning!

Tilting at windmills, Daisy. The NFL is in business to make money and if they wish to contract with Directv only, they can. Same with pushing their own network.

You vote with your money. I choose to buy. Nobody owes me free NFL games on TV.

Not free. But access should be equal. Most stadiums are tax-payer funded. The NFL enjoys a trust exemption from the government. Personally, I think that the DirecTV deal is unfair, because there are individuals (mostly who have trees from neighbors or whatever) that make it physically impossible to access the games.

I'm not hopeful about actually affecting change, but it can't hurt.

I'm pissed too, Darth. But for a different reason. This was my year to knock Philly's new stadium off my list (i'm trying to go to all stadiums), and I probably can't do this game because it's Thanksgiving night. So now I'll probably have to wait until 2016 to get to Philly. Yeah, I'm pissed.

Sept. 7 Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers 4:15 p.m. FOX - In the Lions' first game with Mike Martz, they scored 3 points; certainly there will be big some stumbling blocks in implementing Martz's offense against a first string, hard hitting, exotic blitzing defense. WIN
Sept. 14 Miami Dolphins at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. CBS - Which two corners are the Dolphins starting? Haha. Who's next? WIN
Sept. 21 Arizona Cardinals at Washington Redskins 1 p.m. FOX - Great revenge VICTORY
Sept. 28 Arizona Cardinals at New York Jets 1 p.m. FOX - Mike Nolan is the new Dennis Green clone and Eric has that possible fate ; acquiring great talent in the draft and free agency for the next head coach. WIN
Oct. 5 Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals 1 p.m. CBS - WIN
Oct. 12 Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. FOX - WIN
Oct. 26 Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers 1 p.m. FOX - WIN

Nov. 2 Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams 1 p.m. FOX - LOSE
Nov. 10 San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals 8:30 p.m. ESPN Monday Night - WIN
Nov. 16 Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks 4:05 p.m. FOX - WIN
Nov. 23 New York Giants at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. FOX - LOSE
Nov. 27 Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles 8:15 p.m. NFLN - Turkey Day - LOSE

Dec. 7 St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. FOX - WIN
Dec. 14 Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals 4:05 p.m. FOX - WIN
Dec. 21 Arizona Cardinals at New England Patriots 1 p.m. FOX - LOSE
Dec. 28 Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. FOX - WIN

The Seahawks are a team on the decline. Bobby Engram is a year older, they are trying to develop a running game with Julius Jones behind an offensive line whose good pieces are getting old. As for the Vikings, Brad Childress seems serious that Tarvaris Jackson is going to start this year so unless he gets Brohm, Derek Anderson, Flacco, Brennan, or Dixon on draft day, this will be a humiliation. As for the Cowboys, the Cardinals are one corner away from being able to curtail this Jason Garrett fireworks show. What good scouting does is it finds the right corner out of the plethora of different options in the first rounds. There's no doubt that with NO MAJOR INJURIES this Arizona Cardinals team will finish with a top five defense and a top five offense and I'm making my guesses based on the expectancy that there will be NO MAJOR INJURIES and while Watson will be missed I think we still have our big playmakers that must stay on the field.

I think the toughest four teams will be the Panthers, Patriots, Eagles, and 'boys.

Cardinals fans respect the Panthers offense. When Delhomme was playing early last season, teams were getting punished. With a healthy Delhomme, new running back Labrandon Toefield and pass-catchers Hackett and Muhammad, Steve Smith should put together a record season.

Sights, methinks you overrate us a wee bit, if history holds true. Making light of other teams' abilities is also perhaps unwarranted.

However, this is the offseason and a little Cards Cool-Aid is nice.

I see 6-10 at best. Sorry. Dont kill me. Whiz gets one more year than he will be tossed aside.

I think that 6-10 with this schedule would be a legitimate disappointment.

But. I think the Cards could be a significantly improved team in 2008 and still finish 8-8 again, or even 7-9.

I will be utterly amazed if this team starts 7-0. Plus, we are not sweeping the Seahawks. I'm thinking 8-8 or 9-7 for this team.
