The conundrum. We lack talent. VJ stinks. Which is it?

You can only put so much lipstick on a pig.

I think the lack of talent and the ability to put pressure on the Qb with a 4 man rush puts Joseph in a bind. Add to the fact the lack of experience in the secondary and really what can we expect?

I think it comes down to we are asking our young secondary to keep everything in front of them. Perhaps we should be blitzing more. For this defense to work we need to very good cb’s. VJ stated this when hired.

So how can we judge VJ when 99.9% of us claim we don’t have enough talent on defense?

Chandler Jones
Corey Peters
Jordan Hicks
Patrick Peterson
Byron Murphy

These are 5 legit dudes on a good defense. Too early to tell on Zack Allen or the Thompsons. Brock is an ok 3rd CB. Baker is an enigma for me. Gunter is the Cassius Marsh/Brooks Reed of 3-4 DEs. Depth only. Reddick reminded me that he is our new DJ Swearinger.
He said “playmaker.” I’d argue that peters and hicks aren’t really “playmakers” they are solid vets. Murphy is up and coming. Peterson hasn’t played a down yet. That leaves chandler jones as the only “playmaker.” That’s an awful defense.

I have no idea why you'd list PP when he wasn't even playing today. did you even read my post about the starters named? or where I specifically mentioned our lack of playmakers. Peters is a solid guy. Not an impact player. Hicks is a guy. Murphy has potential. And behind them, is practically nothing.
