If the market has taught you anything, it's that pass rushers are much more highly valued than defensive backs.

At 29? Not gonna happen.

Wasn't Bruce Irvin, subject of this thread, taken in the late 20s?

Edit - he went 15.. thought Seattle was better than that around the time they drafted him.

Alec Ogletree, Jerry Hughes and Clay Matthews are three LBs who have gone late first round (25th or later) in recent pay.

U mean the same JPP with 1 sack in 8 starts? That shows you the wisdom right there. Should have offered Irvin $10mm / yr instead of JPP

Irvin is likely a 4-5 year contract for about $50mil total. JPP was $10.5 for 1 year. If JPP stinks, he's off the books in 2017. If Irvin stinks, you're stuck with all of that dead money for quite some time.

Think about it. Last year, the team was carrying $15 mil in dead money on the cap. Now? $250k. It's because Keim has purged all of Graves's bad long-term deals, such as Stewart Bradley and Kevin Kolb.

Seahawks traded up to get Irvin. There are a ton of players who were drafted late 1st rd and later that have become great pass rushers. We are due so expect Golden, Riddick and etc. to step up this year. Fingers crossed and live chicken sacrificed to make it happen for us. :)

Man I hope you are right, I really do. But our history doesn't speak much in favor of that. I don't like the idea of going into the season on a fart and prayer.

I just get the impression that the Dolphins are a dumpster fire. Now they are backing out on the trade with the Eagles for Maxwell and Kiko, and they should because the rumor was they were exchanging their 8th overall pick for the Eagles 13th and giving them a 4th rd. pick.

So yes 3 crappy teams are spending tons but they HAVE too because they are soooo far under the CAP. Raiders may actually be good this year btw.

I agree with your post in that spending a ton in FA typically means you are a lousy and desperate team and will not improve because of overpriced FA's.

Chugging the koolaide at this point but SK is the man and will rectify and exorcise the ghosts of past and we will have a pass rush this year. :)
