Surprised he's not in the mix at this point.
He was a difference maker. Once he went out the Cardinals scoring went way down.
I really really hope they resign him. The combo of CJ and DJ is as good as it gets.

I actually think it was a blessing in disguse he got hurt.

He started to become ineffective since the Browns game. I'd rather just draft a RB in the 5th & let CJ walk.

Nah, we know that CJ can get the tough yards. Who knows what the 5th RB will be able to do. You want DJ as starter and then have AE and a rookie/Williams behind them. Ouch, no way.

We also know that CJ is getting up there in age & it showed after the Ravens game.

We could barely run the ball during that stretch from the Browns game to when CJ got injured in the second 9ers game.

I get that. He wouldn't be the starter but more of the 2nd RB and I can see him doing well in that position.

I am hoping they figure out a way to bring CJ back into the mix as well. He made it clear he wants to return and we know he is a great fit for the Cardinals offense.

At the very least I think he would be able to give us what he did last year, which was a little over half a season as top line rusher. Dude had over 800 yards.

I like D. Johnson a lot and think he has a very bright future, but I wonder if he is physically ready to stand up to the game in and game out pounding of being an every down back for 16+ games. I think having CJ in the mix helps preserve DJ in the short term and even long term while providing the type of quality depth and production the Cards are going to need if they are going to get to where they are trying to go.

Would love him back. Hell, I wouldn't mind picking up Arian Foster for cheap either. He said he's going to wait. Sounds like another option as well.

I would be very upset if Cards don't offer up something that works for both parties. He was a huge part of the success until he got hurt and by splitting the workload with DJ (and maybe AE), our RB's are going to be feared. He deserves at least another 1-2 year deal with showing that he still has what it takes at his age

Hes an un needed luxury. We have our horse. You can't be throwing money at 30+ year old back up RBs who don't even play Special Teams. JMO

The NFL is different now. You don't do it with the 1 horse anymore. We need a reliable 2nd RB, and I don't think Ellington is that guy. I don't want to cut AE because he's cheap, and he can still give the offense something.

I get the bell cow part, but SO91 is right about RB by committee during the course of a 16+ game season. I wish I had more confidence in Ellington---I think he runs scared if and when he's not injured. Kerwynn Williams runs harder and he had that great TD versus the Rams, but he fumbled at a bad time and overall he did not impress as much as he did in 2014. Taylor is liked on STs, but BA is loath to run him. Maybe I am wrong but I think CJ is in league way above all the other three.

I forget how many games DJ was out last year because of his hammy, was it more than 2? Anyway if CJ could be our KR & PR man would that change your mind at all? I think he would fantastic at it and we have a huge need.

I want to see CJ come back to spell DJ. Ellington is proven to be unreliable. Taylor is meh. KW is tough but unrefined, and a risk to turn the ball over. CJ is proven as a mail carrier, and should do even better in a back-up role to DJ where he can be used less frequently, but more effectively. We can still draft a back, or pick up and un-drafted one.

That's right, he started practicing again when BASK signed CJ.

I love me some DJ but I also love depth and CJ proved he still has it.

And here is something I thought I would never say about Chris Johnson, he appears to be a great teammate and a guy the young players look up to and he is there for them as a mentor... he also has a great rapport with Stump Mitchell

Yeah, I had a perception of him that doesn't appear to be even close to that a good guy he is.

Some people do not change unless they have a life changing experience... I guess getting shot and seeing a friend die qualifies, and it has altered who Chris Johnson is now though what he had to endure to change was a big price

Crazy to count on AE being the number 2 back. Now why that would continue all season..

He doesn't play special teams, so he's not viable as a backup RB.

And that is why Britten Golden was on the roster. I don't think that applies for all.

Chris Johnson can run the rock, and pass block. He is a viable backup, IMHO.

Mendenhall didn't play special team.

So a guy that might make what 5 ST tackles all year is more valuable than a guy that could potentially provide one of the better 1-2 punches at RB in the league? A guy that if DJ did happen to go down is proven, capable, was very productive last year?

Put Ellington on ST until he inevitably gets injured then sign a scrub off the street like we did last season.
