Who cares at this point about what any other player got for a suspension?

Washington should get the maximum penalty for this offense. He deserves it.

If he gets one more strike (drugs, improper conduct, etc.)---he should be banned from the NFL.

He had better be going straight from his probation officer to counseling.

He didn't deserve the $10M for what he's done to this team two years in a row and how his actions have tainted the organization. He had better atone for this big-time.

Chill, Mitch. I know his crimes are unacceptable; however, in no way, shape, or form did he taint the organization. Look at the 9ers, Raiders and Bengals. Those are "tainted" organizations (if such a distinction exists). Take into consideration that these incidents happened well over a year ago, so hopefully by know, he's already in counseling and has been on his best behavior since.

In addition to which, there's a big difference between what his punishment will be and what you think it should be. Banned from the NFL? Surely, you jest. The NFLPA laughs at such an assertion.

Let the proper authorities in the league office handle this incident. I'll keep my values on the matter to myself; I just want to know how this affects my football team.

I meant the maximum in terms of game suspensions, not being banned from the NFL as yet. This is not his third strike, but it is an egregious second strike. The man committed a felony and got off on a plea.

You were there? Because pleading guilty does not always mean guilt. If the prosecutors thought they could convict him, they would have.

forgive him,....he's running for Pope.

No, I am simply not running away from the severity of this situation.

Of course, would I prefer to have Washington in the lineup? But, what I worry about most is Washington committing a third offense and not learning a danged thing from all of this. He's been handled with kid gloves thus far---and, sure, he is going to lose at least a couple of paychecks, but it's almost like suspending a kid from school, it's like a mini-vacation. Washington still will collect many fat paychecks this year---thus, nothing so far for him has been severely jeopardized. That makes me worried. Doesn't it make anyone else worried?

this is his first personal conduct offense.

His other offenses are on the drug side of things. seperate catagories. Seperate everything.

I have read all the accounts and they all point to the same scenario---of which, Washington himself does not deny.

He grabbed the mother of his daughter by the throat and then threw her to the ground so hard it broke her collarbone.

Banky---don't you think that Washington's status as a pro football player facilitated the plea deal?

Not true at all.

Nearly 95 percent of all cases resulting in felony convictions never reach a jury. Instead, they are settled through plea bargains in which a defendant agrees to plead guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence.

Not to go all P&R but felonies are a convenient truth in this country. So, just because it is labeled a felony means nothing.

People have gotten away with way worse. It doesn't justify these things, but it is the truth.

There are thousands of pleas on felony convictions every day. Without it the million you have in the US prison system would be double.

with me it is kind of touch and go..... weed charges,..well,...so what.I understand the "illegal" part of it and all,...but not too long ago alcohol was illegal too,...and every sheriff in the country had a bottle in his desk drawer...I don't sweat weed charges as IMO all they ever were were trumped up bs for the states to make fine money off of...and weed is rapidly making its way to being legal nationwide anyway...five years or so is my guess...
The domestic assault,..to me, based on my own personal experiences and what I read about it....was a bad situation that got out of hand quickly, but not a situation in which Washington had malevolent intent,...when you are a large man, and strong,...and you get angry,...at times the reflexive action can do far more than you ever intended...I hope DW learns to immediately distance himself from others when these situations start to rise up..... as far as "felony" charges, also based on personal experience,...most likely bunk and trumped up.....our court system has a standard M.O. of over charging individuals specifically with the intent of plea-ing them to lesser charges.....I myself was once charged with attempted murder, accused of beating a guy with a tire iron and I never laid a hand on him,....but accepted a plea for misdemeanor assault strictly because they were threatening me with 60 years in prison, and taking the plea was safer than trusting a judge. Washington being a national sports figure he may well have drawn a judge who wanted to make an example out of him, make a name for themselves....on the other hand, he may have drawn a good judge who once he reviewed the case,...dropped it to a misdemeanor,...or dismissed it entirely...but is that gamble worth taking?? male on female violence is front and center in our country right now.....would YOU take that chance?? or would you take the plea that gave you zero jail time, no more public exposure, and allowed you to go back to your lucrative pro sports career in which you are just hitting your prime earning years?....I am all for getting my day in court,...but in his situation I take the plea every time....sometimes you just have to suck it up and take your losses.
But like you, I also want to see DW walk the straight and narrow from now on....I want to see that he has the intelligence, maturity and self control to keep himself out of these situations.

Good analysis. The weed situation is more stupid than evil IMO, especially the second offense or failure to test or whatever it was.

The assault is obviously much more serious and coupled with the marijuana puts Washington in the danger zone. He should stay far, far away from this woman, who herself seems a little unstable.

this is my bigger problem with the pot offense. smoking pot isn't evil. but breaking a rule, multiple times just shows incredibly stupidity/little regard for your team. that's what cheeses me off about that.

agreed. problem is you just can't separate one from the other. both instances show a guy who had been really reckless with his behavior. hopefully he's learned his lesson.
