What use does it do for me to worry? More importantly, what use does it do for YOU to worry?

That I'll agree with. I don't worry about him being a knucklehead or not. He either will be or he won't. I hope he won't do anything else stupid or illegal while he is on the team.

Choosing not to worry and thinking things are ok are two very VERY different things. Since you are such a paranoid person, you have enough energy to worry for both of us. ;)

this.

all offenses were over a year ago. Seems to be keeping his nose clean lately. Prefer to focus on the positive and hope for the best. If he messes up more, then we have major problems.

supervised in which terms?

Supervised by an officer who he will be required to report to, most likely every other week. He will be required to submit UAs as well as have to enroll in some sort of DV treatment, 24 or 36 weeks. Financial piece shouldn't be an issue. With a F6 though, more than likely he won't be able to carry a firearm so hopefully that isn't an issue in the future. He may have to get travel permits to leave the state as well for away games.

lol...it's paranoid to think a guy who has screwed up multiple times might do it again.

I suggest you wash that sand down with a hot beverage to break it up. cold water will probably lead to mud and we wouldn't want you choking on it. ;)

lmao....some call it prejudice,,....others call it experience....

Ha. Cute 5th grade retort. What's next? Nanny nanny boo boo?

Then again, after coming out of this looking like a fool, I shouldn't expect more from you

glad you found it funny, but after I posted that, I took the comment down because I was being an ass. just reacting to being called paranoid, but I pretty much started this with my sand comment. there was no need to go further.

ok. I don't need to get in a flame war here. agree to disagree on how we think about washington.

I look at everything from Vick to Rothelburgerasuqy and I'm thinking a 5 game suspension, plus it would make the big market team San Francisco get a head start on us and benefit the media darling Seahawks... the NFL is a business :)

I have read all the accounts and they all point to the same scenario---of which, Washington himself does not deny.

He grabbed the mother of his daughter by the throat and then threw her to the ground so hard it broke her collarbone.

Banky---don't you think that Washington's status as a pro football player facilitated the plea deal?

That he pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault in the sixth degree speaks to a shove or push, not your description.

Who cares at this point about what any other player got for a suspension?

Washington should get the maximum penalty for this offense. He deserves it.

If he gets one more strike (drugs, improper conduct, etc.)---he should be banned from the NFL.

He had better be going straight from his probation officer to counseling.

He didn't deserve the $10M for what he's done to this team two years in a row and how his actions have tainted the organization. He had better atone for this big-time.

Agreed

This is a little over the top TJ. Tone it back please. Cheese, I haven't read your response yet but I am guessing the same.

this is my bigger problem with the pot offense. smoking pot isn't evil. but breaking a rule, multiple times just shows incredibly stupidity/little regard for your team. that's what cheeses me off about that.

agreed. problem is you just can't separate one from the other. both instances show a guy who had been really reckless with his behavior. hopefully he's learned his lesson.

Smoking pot isn't evil but it's illegal in 48 states. Like it or not but until the law is changed the law is the law. It's also in violation of league policy. If he cannot keep to the policy then he is free to seek employment elsewhere. He ought to be happy he keeps getting chance after chance. If I pop hot in a random urine, I'm fired as I should be. That said, hopefully this will be a wake up call for him and he matures.

with me it is kind of touch and go..... weed charges,..well,...so what.I understand the "illegal" part of it and all,...but not too long ago alcohol was illegal too,...and every sheriff in the country had a bottle in his desk drawer...I don't sweat weed charges as IMO all they ever were were trumped up bs for the states to make fine money off of...and weed is rapidly making its way to being legal nationwide anyway...five years or so is my guess...
The domestic assault,..to me, based on my own personal experiences and what I read about it....was a bad situation that got out of hand quickly, but not a situation in which Washington had malevolent intent,...when you are a large man, and strong,...and you get angry,...at times the reflexive action can do far more than you ever intended...I hope DW learns to immediately distance himself from others when these situations start to rise up..... as far as "felony" charges, also based on personal experience,...most likely bunk and trumped up.....our court system has a standard M.O. of over charging individuals specifically with the intent of plea-ing them to lesser charges.....I myself was once charged with attempted murder, accused of beating a guy with a tire iron and I never laid a hand on him,....but accepted a plea for misdemeanor assault strictly because they were threatening me with 60 years in prison, and taking the plea was safer than trusting a judge. Washington being a national sports figure he may well have drawn a judge who wanted to make an example out of him, make a name for themselves....on the other hand, he may have drawn a good judge who once he reviewed the case,...dropped it to a misdemeanor,...or dismissed it entirely...but is that gamble worth taking?? male on female violence is front and center in our country right now.....would YOU take that chance?? or would you take the plea that gave you zero jail time, no more public exposure, and allowed you to go back to your lucrative pro sports career in which you are just hitting your prime earning years?....I am all for getting my day in court,...but in his situation I take the plea every time....sometimes you just have to suck it up and take your losses.
But like you, I also want to see DW walk the straight and narrow from now on....I want to see that he has the intelligence, maturity and self control to keep himself out of these situations.

Good post dude.

All of the problems happened within the same time period. His court case was delayed for quite some time. I have a feeling he was going through some rough stuff for a while. The ex sounds like she made his life hell (not an excuse) and a LOT of guys smoke pot to deal with stress in custody/domestic situations.

FYI since I have handled probably 200+ Dv cases (most misdemeanor, some felony) here is the scoop:

1. He please to a class 6 "undesignated" felony meaning he can have it designated a misdemeanor if he complies and doesn't get any trouble.

2. He will have to do DV counseling.

3 He isnt going to need permission slips to travel to away games. His attorney wouldn't have had him sign a plea without a guarantee he would be able to travel for games.

4. As soon as he pays his fines and does his DV classes, he will likely get early terminated from probation and have his offense designated a misdemeanor.

This isn't as big as it is being made out to be. He got minimal punishment for a reason, and they don't screw with that in DV cases no matter who you are. I can tell you just off what I have read that the victim probably did not create much sympathy and was likely responsible for the situation escalating to the point where DW snapped.

I would be SHOCKED if he got more than 2 games. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 0. You know if you want to know more, you can always request the police reports, they are public record

not sure the above is necessarily true. to get in the drug program, you have to be busted twice. which means he got busted once...had a warning. then got busted AGAIN and it was public knowledge and AFTER he had already gotten busted the second time, it was still a couple months AFTER THAT that he got into the altercation with the woman. Which means he consistently made mistakes after he knew he was already in trouble. and that is troubling.
