Remember if I'm beating that ass, and you just can't get away, you should probably call Shawn-funfun.

FYI since I have handled probably 200+ Dv cases (most misdemeanor, some felony) here is the scoop:

1. He please to a class 6 "undesignated" felony meaning he can have it designated a misdemeanor if he complies and doesn't get any trouble.

2. He will have to do DV counseling.

3 He isnt going to need permission slips to travel to away games. His attorney wouldn't have had him sign a plea without a guarantee he would be able to travel for games.

4. As soon as he pays his fines and does his DV classes, he will likely get early terminated from probation and have his offense designated a misdemeanor.

This isn't as big as it is being made out to be. He got minimal punishment for a reason, and they don't screw with that in DV cases no matter who you are. I can tell you just off what I have read that the victim probably did not create much sympathy and was likely responsible for the situation escalating to the point where DW snapped.

I would be SHOCKED if he got more than 2 games. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 0. You know if you want to know more, you can always request the police reports, they are public record

I'm not sure that there is even an avenue in the NFLPA agreement that allows him to be not punished for this due to his prior transgressions. I posted the document, the full document, on the thread when he was suspended for drugs, and the penalties were basically automatic with no appeal.

In fact, the reason why I posted the document was people were saying the drug offense had no relation to the criminal offense. And, unfortunately if you want D Wash on the field for game 1, no such distinction is made.

Smoking pot isn't evil but it's illegal in 48 states. Like it or not but until the law is changed the law is the law. It's also in violation of league policy. If he cannot keep to the policy then he is free to seek employment elsewhere. He ought to be happy he keeps getting chance after chance. If I pop hot in a random urine, I'm fired as I should be. That said, hopefully this will be a wake up call for him and he matures.

its more of a nflpa rule issue than a legality issue. Being busted by the league piss test is not the same as being busted by a cop.

not sure the above is necessarily true. to get in the drug program, you have to be busted twice. which means he got busted once...had a warning. then got busted AGAIN and it was public knowledge and AFTER he had already gotten busted the second time, it was still a couple months AFTER THAT that he got into the altercation with the woman. Which means he consistently made mistakes after he knew he was already in trouble. and that is troubling.

he was 26. Still learning. I'm not concerned. The last year he has been good so things look good.

The details according to ESPN

Investigators said the argument arose out of a visit that Washington paid to his daughter at the apartment where the child's mother lives. They said the mother panicked after Washington left the apartment with the child to go to a restaurant and wouldn't answer her calls to his cellphone.

Once the child was back at the apartment, police said, Washington left with the mother's cellphone, prompting her to run after him and strike his vehicle with a hand-woven basket. Washington shoved the woman as she tried to run toward the driver's side door of his vehicle, causing her to hit the ground and break her collarbone, police said.
