Miller was a HUGE mistake but I'm lovin the rest of this team. Maybe the Giants are just bad or off to a slow start but the Dbacks look like the team that dominated all spring.

He sucked but it looked like he may have scraped his knuckles again, which is no excuse. He has messed up his delivery, no reason he should be knuckle dragging, especially with his arm angle, makes no sense.

Can he be sent down?

As bad as Miller has been, the Segura trade looks like a steal. He has been killing it.

And the bullpen, holy smokes have they been solid. Including today's 6 shutout innings the pen's ERA is now below 3 (if Randy Delgado is excluded it's nearly 2) and they'll likely have a 6-2 record.

I'd put him on the 15 day DL, the excuse can be his knuckles but they should spend the entire team working on his delivery, then they'll be able to send him for some "rehab" starts in the minors after.

I agree, who cares about saving face. Do what is best for the team. Shelby has potential but he is not showing it now. Put him on the DL and bring someone up for their shot.

LaRusa should order this. Wasn't Miller his idea?

Its still early but to this point the positives defenitely seem to outweigh the negatives.

Miller is young and he may turn out to be great. If not this trade is going to be an epic failure refered to by baseball people for years to come.

Depending of course on what Inciarte (on DL) and Swanson do

True. Just because they're great young prospects doesn' t mean they'll be great major leaguers.

I keep thinking of that trade the Astros made years ago that got them 2 All Stars for a broke down arm.

I hope this puts to an end to the posts calling Chip Hale an incompetent Manager. He is the most overall talented Manager the D-backs have ever had.

We're a game and a half out of 1st place, with the best road record in our division, despite the injuries and Goldie's slump.

Bob Brenly suggested putting Miller on the DL until his scraped knuckles heal. Then, of course, work on his mechanics. Tyler Wagner is a starter and pitched in Miller's spot, by relieving him.

It will be interesting to see how De La Rosa does in his next start. If he bombs again, the D-backs should seriously consider converting him to a reliever. He could be a good power reliever.

Might as well use this old thread. The Dbacks don't deserve a new one.

Hey, why don't they put Miller in the pen? He's been OK lately first time through the order and he does throw hard. Can't be any worse than Home Run Colmenter?

That's not a long term perspective regarding Miller whom they think they need in the next couple of years.

Better to let him struggle as a SP than to give up on him in that roll.

I was going to say I don't like bumping old threads for new games but you do have a point.

I know there's precedent for guys working their problems out in the pen. You pointed out his control issues. Seems like he could do this just as easily in a relief role.
