I would usually agree with your ******* comment, but if the reports that he had an affair with Julia "don't call me wall-face" Styles, then he is an idiot and deserves it. Seriously, Jennifer Carpenter is no bombshell, but come on.

He should be arrested for marrying Carpenter and THEN having an affair with Styles. Both are "say what?" leading ladies. Neither are attractive or very talented.

I just finished up this season - the least favorite of the set for both my wife & myself ..... but watching them in a quick fashion on DVR may of helped as I'm not as bent up as what I just read

I actually think Jennifer Carpenter did a good job this year .... she normally grates on me, but seemed to show some depth.

Styles can't act and did nothing this season to dispell that ..... however, i think she did bring out a couple dynamics in dexter

Things I didn't like - Angel & LaGuerta .... nothing compelling about either, nothing compelling together ..... they are fine scenery, but let's keep it at that ...... I love masuka, but really don't want to know anything more about him - he serves his part .... not need to make angel & laguerta anything more than office pieces

Some really sloppy writing / suspension of disbelief ..... I'm not a photography expert, but it usually seems that dexter goes offshore a bit to do his drops - but somehow Liddy can stand on the docks, with some super zoom lense and get clear photos at 3am but just kind of holding the camera & clicking ... no tripod or anything ... just picking up crystal clear images of dark objects over dark water in the dark of night

way too many little arcs going on ..... isn't one of the beheading guys still out there? - what was the point of introducing the younger officer? - what did that whole story line reveal? - did we really need to see Angel get duped into thinking LaGuerta was cheating (although it did open up liddy) - given that Quinn was the IA lady after him when he was introduced, wouldn't it be worth exploring how he knew Liddy (who was dirty) - the rushed aspect of quinn being a suspect - the scratched 13th disc that seemed to have different writing on it than the others - the footprints they found - the wrecked stolen car at the camp (note that lumen didn't have gloves on, plus whose blood was on the knife at the other girls home - why wouldn't homicide be called there? - and i'm sure there are another dozen things that bugged me at the time that I just can't remember because they just weren't important

there were a couple things I did like .... they were able to keep some of the suspense going, although not to the extent of other seasons ..... I liked that Dexter showed legitimate concern & emotion ... I liked that he learned that people can lose their desires/dark passenger .... I like that Deb had a little complication of ideals thrown her way - I think this tweak to her character could setup a question on how she acts if/when she finds out about Dexter .... they setup a potential intrigue between dexter/quinn, although I think they meant to wrap it up .... I liked Liddy, very well played IMO

I think next season has to be the last and they have a lot of potential to do it right ... although I don't have a ton of confidence they will pull it off

I agree with most of what you said about this past season, but I think those photos were of them LOADING the boat on the docks, not UNLOADING them out in open water. He said something to the effect of "they put all of these heavy bags onboard, and then came back without them."

and one thing that I thought was great this season was Peter Weller's acting. I thought he did a great job.

Yeah - I enjoyed his character/performance ...... definitely not a likeable guy in really any aspect, but I was kind of glad he was there

Casting news:

Aimee Garcia - as Jamie - Harrison's new nanny and Batista's little sister.

Colin Hanks - as Travis - A highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami.

Mos Def - as a hardened ex-con who claims to have found religion yet seems to continually find himself surrounded by violence.

I hope Debra becoming LT and breaking it off with Quin is the beginning of him being a lot less relevant to the show. His character is annoying and pointless.

I think the writers of this show are getting a bit lazy. Dexter was only supposed to go after killers who somehow escaped the legal system, at least that was the original premise. Then he started interfering with his own team's investigations to go after their suspects. And now, by withholding info from his team, innocent people are getting killed so that he can personally catch the killer before the cops get to him.

And is anyone else really tired of Dexter saying "dark passenger" a hundred times per episode? That metaphor has been completely worn out.

holy unbelievable predictability! who the hell didn't see that "twist" coming from a billion miles away? who the hell cares about Quinn dealing with getting over Deb? Or what's his face's sister and the new nerd? or Lageurta and the Chief? I mean... those are the worst subplots I think I've ever seen in this show by a country mile. Throw another really awful "big bad" this year and this show is officially atrocious now.

Last season is when Dexter started to fall apart. It was still entertaining enough for me to watch, but that's about it.

I had hopes for this season as it started out pretty strong IMO. The last few episodes have been garbage though. I think at this point I'm only watching because I've been a big fan of the series. Obviously it would be hard to top the Trinity Killer season. But I didn't expect this much of a drop.

The writing has been terrible and I'm extremely annoyed at how "easy" it is for Dexter to find things out. Also, I don't NEED EVERYTHING EXPLAINED TO ME. I really enjoyed the narration originally. It's one of the things that drew me into the series. But it's been so friggin' cheesy and overdone this season.

Breaking Bad has clearly topped Dexter as my #1 show.

This.

I actually enjoyed the first half of the season. But once they killed off Brother Sam it completely fell apart. I saw the ending coming about 3 episodes ago. But it's enough to keep me watching next season.

Shame what happened to such a great show.

and did anyone else find it weird that Colin Hanks was constantly eating throughout the episode. He's eating an apple, then he snacks on some Cheerios at Dexter's... just bizarre.

he was and is always horrendous in everything he's in. I can't imagine him getting even background work if he wasn't Tom Hanks' son... much less the lead antagonist in a series who's previous antagonists have been Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow.

what a disaster of a season.

The first season was the best with the Trinity season a close second. This one has replaced season two as my least favorite.
