First two weeks cancelled.

It's very discouraging although not unexpected. I would like if the two sides had just kept talking with a sense of urgency. Per an article written by AP sports writer by Brian Mahoney - Oct. 10, 2011.

Though both sides have said they believe bargaining is the only route to a deal, the process could end up in the courts. Each brought an unfair labor practice charge against the other with the National Labor Relations Board, and the league also filed a federal lawsuit against the union attempting to block it from decertifying.

Union officials thus far have been opposed to decertification, a route the NFL players initially chose during their lockout. But Hunter has said it might eventually be considered.

Hmmm, MY YAHOO! home page shows the Suns playing Portland tonight.

Do they know something we don't know?

Go Marcin! :)

I just saw part of Erin Burnett's interview with David Stern on CNN. If an agreement can be reached in a meeting with the players (I believe tomorrow) things could be up and running within a month. I think Stern agreed with Burnett... by Thanksgiving.

god, I hope they don't strike a deal. I really don't want to see what monstrosity the Suns will be this year. I'd prefer to think Nash's last year was really 2010 and he ended his career with a valiant series against the Lakers... and then got to play for a contender and won a title ala Ray Bourque before retiring.

come on Sarver... you already mucked everything up for the Suns, keep doing whatever you're doing with the league as well!

LET THEM STAY! LET THEM STAY!

Either way, as a Suns fans we have nothing to look forward to. Hopefully Sarver alienates people to the point that everyone decides he should no longer be part of the league.

Honestly my most hated sports figure by a long shot.

Come on Cheesebeef. The Suns have as much right to present an inferior product just like the Arizona Cardinals. I need by NBA fix all the more for it.

I save my sports hatred for John Lucas. I guess that puts Sarver in the mildly detested camp.

I don't see what could be gained from not having a season, from the Suns perspective at least. Even if they have a worse season than last year, at least their draft position will improve and Gortat will have another year to improve. That Morris kid could probably also use some NBA experience.

The only positive I can think of from not having a season would be if the NBA decided to adopt my idea for determining draft positions next summer: teams that have been in the league the longest while winning the fewest titles and having the fewest number of #1 overall picks get the highest draft selections in 2012.

I want Sarver to be public enemy number one and canceling the season will make him that in phoenix. only way he ever leaves is if that entire city turns on him.

and Morris... jesus, i forgot we drafted the lesser twin again. that kid will never amount to jack squat. the sooner his contract runs out without him stepping on the floor, the better.

I think Sarver is already quite disliked and it doesn't seem to me that he cares that much. I doubt that a lost season will affect his ownership status, especially since it's been reported that he really doesn't have much power within the owners group. If anything, a lost season means that owners will most likely get a hard cap and a more favorable revenue split. You could argue that Sarver is more likely to sell the team if the owners don't get as good a deal as they want.

As for Morris, technically he isn't signed yet and won't be until a new CBA is reached, so his contract won't run out any faster, unless of course they change rookie contract lengths in the new CBA.

In his favor, at least the ***** has a sweet nickname.

Reportedly some real progress on a new CBA was made Wednesday with both sides scheduled to meet again Thursday. There may be a new deal by the end of the week.

For the first time since the lockout began, I'm optimistic that we'll have NBA basketball in the not too distant future.

I hope we get a short season in which we win as little game as possible which will get us a top 3 pick and deal the few assets we have for 2 more top 20 picks in 2012.

A short season would be perfect to tank.

Suck hard enough to get Andre Drummond in the top 2, or suck just a little worse than last year and get Austin Rivers in the top 10. Ideally acquire more draft picks so many great talents in next years draft.

Myck Kabongo PG - next Rajon Rondo?
Marquis Teague PG - younger brother of Jeff Teague
Austin Rivers PG/SG - combo guard, #1 in his class, son of Doc Rivers, Stephen Curry 2.0?
Jeremy Lamb SG
Michael Kidd Gilchrist SG/SF - great defender, touted as next Iguodala
LeBryan Nash SG/SF - athletic
Quincy Miller SF - draws comparisons to Durant
Perry Jones PF - 6'11 with athleticism and skills
Andre Drummond PF/C - Amare with bigger body and passing, think a mix of Amare, Howard and Webber
Anthony Davis PF - with guard skills
Harrison Barnes SF - would have been top 3 pick this year
Brad Beal SG - next Eric Gordon ?
Jared Sullinger - next Kevin Love ?
James McAdoo SF/PF - son of Bob McAdoo compared to James Worthy
Terrence Jones SF - opted out of this years draft
Kendall Marshall PG - true PG in Mark Jackson mold
Josiah Turner PG - next UofA PG prodigy?

Did not even mention some breaktout NCAA player candidates like Patric Young, Plumlee, CJ Leslie, Tyler Zeller, John Henson and internation prospects.. Next year is now or never to rebuild..

It appears talks broke down again Friday over BRI split and more games may be canceled. This is getting very old. I was hoping both sides were ready to get a deal done now.
Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. At this point, I would consider using replacement players rather than cancelling more games. The Suns title chances this season would likely immediately improve.

I'm tired of wondering and hoping there will be a season. I wish they would set up one more meeting between owners and players next week which would result in the players voting yes or no for the best contract offer from the owners knowing the whole season would be canceled (period) if an agreement is not reached. I want a definitive answer. The fans deserve it.

I wish the old ABA was in existence to provide some semblance of competition for the NBA. Maybe the whole NBA needs to be dissolved and start from scratch. This would give both the players and owners what they deserve.

Honestly I'm not following this. I just watched the grueling MLB playoffs only to see the rangers lose ala the buffalo bills. I heard briefly that talks were getting better then they broke off? so do you guys think there will be games by xmas? I know the mavericks have a lot of question marks as to personnel? this is going to be crazy once they return from the lockout if they do?

NBA average salary is about 5 million. Thats almost $61,000 per game over 82 games. (I realize there's a lot more on either side.) Kobe makes 290k per game...

I don't feel bad for the players OR owners. The guys that sell popcorn, clean up the arenas, and rely on the income from the 40 or so home games, are the real casualties of the lockout here.

Billy Hunter strikes me as an idiot. The "Don King" of basketball, I really wonder why the players chose someone like that to represent them. He fits with the vast majority of NBA players however I guess.

We may not agree much, but you have been spot on with the lockout IMO.
