Whoever it was that redid Boyz in the Hood by Eazy E, that was pretty classic, although really played out on radio a couple years ago.

Give me the Dinosaur Jr cover of "Just Like Heaven" by the Cure.

It's the only context in which I have ever been able to tolerate the Cure.

Not really a cover, but The Propellerheads did a version of Super Bon Bon by Soul Coughing that is really good. They also redid the James Bond On Her Majesty's Secret Service too. Both of those are really good.

How can you bring up David Lee Roth and not mention Just a Gigolo!

"Downbound Train" by the Mavericks. originally by Springstein on the "Nebraska" album.

Actually, that was off of "Born in the U.S.A" Great song, either version.

My personal fave is "Blue Monday", redone by Orgy originally by New Order. I thought the angrier tone fit the song better.

You are right. My bad, the remake for the song was on the tribute to Nebraska by various artists. I love that. " Now I swing a hammer on a road gang, knocking down them cross ties working in the rain, and I feel like I been riding a Downbound Train."

Johnny Cash does "I'm on fire", there are alot of good songs on it.

"Hey little baby is he good to you? Does he do the things that I do mmm, mmm. I got a bad desire. mmm, mmm, mmm, I'm on fire."

Someone mentioned the "Stone Cold Crazy" remake by Metallica which brings to mind:

"Anarchy in the U.K." by Megadeth (originally done by the Sex Pistols, I think)

Hmmm... That reminds me I gotta change my tag line....

Seriously. It's good.

I like Credence Clearwater's Revival's version the best.

I recent heard a cover of "Turn the Page" (Bob Seger) is that Metallica?

Yep. They also do a killer version of the traditional Irish classic "Whiskey In The Jar", as does Thin Lizzy.

OK guys, BEST ever...

Louie, Louie by the Kingsmen!!!
Originally by Richard (not Chuck) Berry

Also worst cover ever:

Louie, Louie by Julie London
(found on Rhino's "Safe Sanitized Sounds"); almost
impossible to listen to the entire rendition.

Bob, you like the cover of Whiskey in the Jar? I didn't think it was that good, but that's just me.
