I've mentioned a couple of times that he's one FA QB I think we should look at. Not because I think he'll be a Pro Bowler, but because I think he can run this offense and he's experienced. While looking for stuff on Hovan I came across an article where he says he's not coming back to Minnesota. Liked it there but at 33 he doesn't want to hold a clipboard and watch Culepper play anymore. Said he wants a "chance to compete".

Interesting guy, hasn't played regularly for a while now but he played quite well in limited time in Denver and then again when Culpepper got hurt in 2003. He's the type of guy I think we should bring in to compete with McCown and Navarre.

If I had to choose between him and Johnson, I'd probably give the edge to Frerotte. Seems like he has more left in the tank.

I have just one thing to say, "Ouch my neck"

Yes I was being polite when I said that, didn't want to call him out for the head butt incident.

Gus had the following to say in the Minnesota paper on Jan. 18th:

Backup quarterback Gus Frerotte, who is a free agent this offseason, hasn't ruled out returning for a third season as Culpepper's backup, but he said he believes he can win a starting job elsewhere at age 34 next season. "I wouldn't say there was stellar quarterback play throughout the NFL this season," Frerotte said. "I'm not going to run all over the place for you, but if a team needs a strong-armed quarterback who can stand in the pocket and knows where to throw the ball, I can do that."

If we sign Gus we'll have one QB who knocked himself out and another who threw the ball to his LT. Any others we should bring in?

Don't forget Fiedler in Miami. He'll be on the street soon. There is no shortage of retreads.

Fiedler has no arm left, but he did play for Green when he broke into the NFL.

This was in today Minnesota paper

Don't be surprised if Vikings free-agent backup quarterback Gus Frerotte gets an opportunity with free-agent teammate Chris Hovan to join Denny Green's Arizona Cardinals. If Frerotte were to leave, former Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke from the Carolina Panthers and St. Paul would seem a legitimate replacement candidate.

These papers have to start crediting this board for all the stories they steal from us.

Well, we've also had Jake throw the ball left handed and also dribble the ball while scrambling, and Grammatica tore his knee up while celebrating... there's got to be more, just can't think of any right now.
