If he was good...then he'd be good.

"Backup secret superstar" is the dumbest concept, yet so many hope in it.

Former 2x MVP

How many MVPs have Glennon and Gabbert won, combined?

I was responding more to your 'definitive' statement on all backups not having star capability and being a complete fantasy and not exclusively to the Gabbert's of the league. Now we must both lay off so Robert Ethan may get his daily quota for Gabbers lol

I said secret superstar backup. This notion that some nobody whos never been good is secretly this all star...if he only got his shot!

That doesnt apply to guys who were once stars, and are now backups. They proved they possessed greatness at one point in time, and thus theres a chance they can find it again.

Kurt hadn't thrown an NFL pass at their age. At least Gabbert's, not sure how old the banjo player from Deliverance is.
And Kurt is a HOFer?

You're comparing a nfl qb that has tripped over his own feet in front of millions of people to an accomplished pro qb.

It would be like me giving Eddie Van Halen a guitar lesson.

This is a terrible take. This is EXACTLY who Kurt Warner was until Trent Green got injured in the preseason.

Kurt hadnt played at all. Similar to Brady. Similar to Arod. Once they got in, they were dynamite from the start.

Gabbert and Glennon have both started multiple seasons and have thoroughly proven they are garbage.

Yes. So Warner was a secret superstar backup. Never played; came in and was an MVP. I'd argue that Brady was different—it took him years to blossom into a superstar. Brady had 18 TDs vs. 12 INTs after taking over for Bledsoe.

Look I'm all in on Gabbert but can we have atleast one preseason before making judgement?

Comparing apples to oranges isn't going to do anyone any good..to add another cliche...proofs in the puddin'.

Alright. There are in fact secret superstar backups.

But the key here is SECRET. Guys who never play. Probably havent sold 1 jersey.

Vs when guys are campaigning for Glennon saying he might be our franchise QB, it makes me sick. Theres nothing "secret" about Glennon. He is a known garbage heap. They have it in their minds that these awful busts (now backups) are actually really good, somehow.

Also, Palmer came to Zona off three straight 4 win seasons, for a 6th round draft pick. You think maybe a few people had given up on him at that point?

Gabbert is a great risk

For a vet minimum-- you get a guy with great physical attributes -- but that has played on two crappy rosters for a revolving door of coaches.

If he is terrible -- he is gone by this time next year

So wrong in so many ways. The past is gone, look to the future.

"Insanity": trying the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different outcome.

also

"If you dont learn from the past, youre doomed to fail in the future"

Both were 1st round picks. Do you not think their former teams poured extensive resources into both, trying to salvage them? Both organizations arguably did everything in their power to build the entire billion dollar franchise around these guys. With all that support and time, they still spectacularly failed.

And yet you think they will come here and be superstars.

Ron Wolfley is DEEP into Gabbert Promotion mode right now. There's a bit of tape from Fitz saying that "Blaine can spin it; always has been able to." Also, Wolfley is anticipating that the "next big trend" in the NFL will be "reclamation projects" like Gabbert.

Wolfley-Schmolfley - What I want my eyes to show me in preseason is a QB who:

- Can be 68% accurate overall.

- Converts 75% of 3rd downs

-Is the Master of Chunk Yardage

- Can drill it short/medium

- Can lay it up there deep.

- Doesn't fragement or rattle under pressure

- Doesn't fumble or throw picks

- Makes good decisions (throw, run, throw-away) a half-second before the pass rush gets to him. (Doesn't do anything dumb).

- Stays healthy.

Show me that.

We all want that, but what you described is a myth! Does that description mirror any current QB in the league?

Add to the list that he needs to read the D so he can go to his second or third option.
