Jaguars won 11 games in 3 years Gabbert was there with lowest payroll in league and record setting injuries. So they used a much higher pick on Bortles, Double the chart value, double the salary. In 3seasons under Blake..,., 11 wins. They near doubled the payroll to prop up Bortes as well,

Smh. Don't understand your attraction.

This just in......Gabbert is competing with Zac Dysert, Trevor Knight, and Antonio Pipkin. No one needs worry about his stats. He's in the "if you have to ask, tank the season anyway" group.

Those stats are out there on Gabbert, it's not that important to dig them up. As far as last season is concerned the 9ers scored more ppg on average and had a better record under Gabbert than Kaepernick. 2015 as well. First part of their schedule was toughest, they said that going in. Plus team was learning new offense. Bradford started off just as badly with Chip and he had more talent around him who were already familiar with it.

Because Carlos Hyde got injured mid-year. It had nothing to d with Gabbert's magical 56% completion rate. He was butt.

He's been in he league for 7 seasons. He's garbage. I'm sorry you consider it impolite to call your boy what he is. Gabbert was so good he was among the 5 worst starters I. The NFL last season. There's no there there.

Ya,ya... I think the Bidwills probably shell out somewhere north of 10m a year for the combined expertise that led to the signing of Gabbert. Our combined opinion worth exactly 0 on the open market. There's your answer.

No he isn't. Those guys are practicing on a different field. Except for Pipkin who is gone,

What is the question? Mine is why don't you understand how butt Blaine Gabbert is?

The owners' names are "Bidwill." Gabbert's veteran minimum deal tells you EXACTLY what the Cards think of him.

I don't think the money was a big consideration for Gabbert at this point. I don't know the details of his contract, or what other opportunities he had, but I heard that Seattle was interested, for one. Gabs wants to be a starter in the league, and has no doubt that he is one of the top 32 QBs on the planet. Arizona offers the best opportunity for that without going to a dysfunctional situation and starting a few games until some rookie is ready, or until the team decides to tank and use a high draft pick on a college QB. He's made close to $20m in the NFL and he's just 27. His girlfriend/wife is an investment banker and they're not high livers, so I imagine he could live quite comfortably with plenty of money left over to pass on to his heirs some day. It's about pride and dignity.

Wel Stanton has been in the same system for many years - gabbart never in the same system for 7 years. System Continuity and consistency helps Stanton keep a grip as a back up - can he win as starter ?

Now there's a word that gets me excited & sends shivers down my spine lol

Not!
He could surprise. Like I said he's had no real team to lead up to now. Let's play some football first and see first hand if there's serious potential. They got nothing to loose, possibly much to gain. They're not committed to the guy and he's here on the cheap prove something program.;)

Quarterbacks never get "rebuilt from the ground up". A QB in his 20s is what he is. As long as I've been watching football there have been quarterbacks who "completely alter their mechanics" via some well meaning coach or "quarterback guru". All that time, effort, and expense is wasted in every case. Tebow probably spent a couple years worth of his life being "fixed from the ground up". Doesn't happen, never will. All the pros and cons you mention about Gabbert were on his scouting report coming out of college. Verbatim. Probably on his report coming out of HS as well. Same/same for every QB in the league, whether he's 21 or 41.

I'd admit it's hard to do, but not impossible. Perhaps the classic example is Steve Young. Here's what SI writer Rick Reilly had to say when analyzing how the Niners built a dynasty, "They traded for Tampa Bay quarterback Steve Young, hoping that a thorough brainwashing would make him unlearn everything he picked up from the Bucs." You can look at his career stats to see how he gradually changed his game and threw deeper consistently. Jim Plunkett would also fit this description.

Room for him and Stanton on the roster.

I'm hoping (like I do to win the powerball) that he will get his feces coagulated and be a legitimate push for a #1.
Long shot but still a chance, right?

Jake Plummer went through a pretty serious rebuild when he went to Denver also

I know I'm in the minority here but it seems to me Bruce has a long term plan for Gabs. He went directly to work with first team and he is pretty high on the priority list of team site roster photos.

BA sees this year as an opportunity to give first team reps to a QB whom he hopes will help the team moving forward. Had the Cardinals drafted a QB in the first 3 rounds, that rookie QB would be the one getting those reps. Blaine Gabbert is now that QB. It is essentially a one year audition. BA wants to see what he can do with Gabbert. But, Gabbert has to earn BA's trust.

i don't know why such hostility against him, there's 5 QBs on the roster let the 4 compete no harm no foul. What if none really emerge, well there's more out there. and what if 1 or even 2 catch on quick and start to excel. I'm not seeing the downside in a vet minimum. Plus it doesn't matter if we say "We should've signed (QB name here)" because inevitably someone would say that QB sux lol. If BG works out great, if not oh well.
