I'm thinking only a quarter or so. I thought I heard earlier in the week BA said he wasn't concerned about his starting units.
So more Stanton or more LT?

Do the coaches get more work for the #2 in case of injury or give the time to LT to see if he can repeat last weeks play?

We just watch Bridge ignite his city the same way Logan lit us up last week. I think it was a good move by Arians for both Lindley and Logan. Bridge played a lot like Logan, with good reads and great poise. AS far as our starters go, I was neither impressed or worried, it doesn't look like the regular season playbook/gameplan was involved much while the starters were in as far as offense goes. We were weak on our left/blind side again at times, but the Vkings were teeing off on our pass happy display, but we still punched it in. It seemed like BA was tinkering with some ideas, and putting players in spots that were hard, to see what they have.

Defense, we took a lot of chances. We learned that when we send the left/blind side blitz, the TE is still an issue when they semi-block and than release after our coverage gets sunken in. Defense looked like they thought it was going to be easy tonight and got caught at times, I think BA went easy on our defense benching them early after making fundamental mistakes. This is what pre-season is for though. We looked good for the most part, I am happy with BA resting the starters early, the mistakes we made tonight are on film, and the starters can absorb film.

Fells did a better job catching than he did blocking, Housler was a no show so to speak. I don't know if that was by design, or if the ball just didn't come his way. Didn't see much as far as concentrating on the run game except for the beginning of the third quarter. Stanton played the second fiddle well, as expected, yada yada, next week blah blah blah.

I still don't get why Peterson gives that much cushion. He needs to be playing tighter to be a better CB. Man I hope that changes.

The intensity as a whole was missing from the defense tonight, we weren't all in it, we wren't ball hawking, we were walking around in between plays, we didn't look like everybodyi was gelling on defense, not like last week (as far as starters go).

Agree. Last week was home game, opening of 2014 season. Everyone is pumped and ready to roll. 2nd week, on the road still preseason- hard to really get that "game face" going against cassel and minn backup RB. Not worried so much about our starters, until an injury happens (hope none do). The 2nd and 3rd team defense played extremely poor. Missing tackles, wide open receivers, etc... There is the Cards weak link right now- IMO.

Yes, Lindley needs to go. As much as I like him, he is nowhere near Thomas or Stanton. Hope he gets picked up by someone and gets a shot.

I didn't get home from work until the 2nd half. How did the first teams do?

Vikings defense tee'd off on us once they figured out we were passing.com, but we still did ok. Our defense acted like it was going to be easy, and got caught chasing once the Vikings went full speed, but we still did ok. Burned pretty much the whole night by their large TE though.

Yea, why didn't we run a little more with the first team?

Stress test is what I guess, want to see where our weaknesses are at top speed and how they handle the hardships. A lot attention was focused on Fells tonight, both in the blocking schemes (run and pass) and in the receiving game. If we can find a great TE to create space in the red zone, it makes Andre and the Giants even more unstoppable. Housler was a ghost though, I don't know if that means he is already cool, or if BA is till looking for a starting TE or two of them so to speak.

I am just glad we haven't had a turn over yet. I am now going to be wondering for another week how well would Thomas have done against minny. Its tough to tell how good Thomas really is as he did play against a low grade Houston D. Look forward on seeing him against Cincinnati. Lindley probably won't be cut until after the 4th preseason game. He isn't bad, but BA/SK are in love with Thomas.

This game was better than last because we learned more about certain players. I'm actually pleased.

I think the kindest thing we can do for Lindley is give him his walking papers right away, same with Feely, but we might want to keep Feely in the Org, he's great with people. Logan vs Bridge would have been cool but Bridge is a lot more NFL ready, and he looked it with the deep ball touch, but something tells me Logan might have that fire, meaning he can respond well when the other team scores. If Lindley goes quickly, than Logan would theoretically have 2 games to challenge Stanton. :maninground:

Which was a fear of mine. I keep saying not addressing the linebacking position is going to be the snake that keeps biting us all season.

I think next week's game is going to be the litmus test as week 3 pre-season games tend to be. The starters will get more reps. Of course it was week 3 last season when Cooper got injured, no?

I think once Honey comes back we might assign Cro to man up with the premier TEs if we are getting worked. Otherwise it might be more of the same, with size out weighing coverage skills and our blitzes burning us.

That would have been great to see. LT vs Teddy in game ending clutch situations. Last night was the perfect scenario and we left Lindley in there. If it wasn't for penalties we would have never scored. Lindley can't handle the pressure and melted away when we needed him to stand up.

Rudolph was open all night. Bowles will have to scheme better than that to cover them.

Yeah, he got on tape that TEs can light us up. When our LBs were on him, they were too slow.

He dwarfed Bucannon. On the play in the endzone that Rudolph dropped the pass and Minny settled for a FG, Bucannon was there but had no shot at defending pass.

I still think we can't properly defend the TEs in our division based on we still don't have the personnel to cover them well. And teams are going to try to exploit that. I would not be nearly as concerned with last year's ILB still on the roster, but it is what it is.

Rudolph was behind him and you are right Deone was out of position to make a play. He got burnt. We have to hope he learns from this and how to get in the correct position.
