The NFL commissioner was talking Cardinals this morning, during an appearance on “Doug and Wolf” on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. At one point, he was asked about the status of suspended linebacker Daryl Washington, who has not been reinstated from his at-least-a-year suspension that was handed down in late May of 2014.

“The substance abuse policy is something that is collectively bargained with the players association as far as the CBA,” Goodell said. “A very strong tenant of that is the fact is the program remains confidential and circumstances surrounding it stay confidential between the various partners. We have professionals that work on it, they make determinations with individuals within the program and they make recommendations back to the NFLPA and NFL.

“I am not directly involved in that but I am aware his status is unchanged and will remain so until the professionals are prepared to move forward.”

Well, there you go.

He also kept referring to the substance abuse policy, not the player conduct policy. To me, that means he failed another test and haven't even gotten around to the domestic violence issue.

At this point, Cards have already moved on as well as D Wash. Even though it would be great to see him on the field, but to me, its over

Legacy.

He will never play in the NFL again, he pretty much robbed the Cardinals, and then quit football.

Whatever, if he is not responsible enough to do his job, I guarantee he is not responsible enough to handle his money. He will be broke and a joke sooner rather than later.

As if we all didn't know why he's still suspended. The dude either smoked dope again or didn't fulfill his obligations to the NFL, no ifs ands or buts about it.

The team has moved forward & so have most the fans, so let's quit bringing his name up & the reasons why. See ya

Still hate the lack of transparency of the policy, but it is what it is.

That being said, draft a damn ILB next season.

Goodell has a political mumbo jumbo about most things. I didn't get any of his statement. Wash is all washed up, but we fans would like to know the real story about his two year suspension.

What else do u want to know? He got stoned again or didn't finish his requirements for reinstatement. Doesn't matter what it is, he doesn't really care about the organization, his former teammates or his fans. Much, most or all of this is fact based on his actions!!!

Move on. Last time I'll comment on this ass clown

Which player do you like more Buckybird, Washington or E.J. Junior... if you could choose between the two

So effing frustrating. This guy shut down Shady McCoy in front of my eyes in Philly. What a waste of supreme physical gifts.

If this is the case then the Cards need to cut bait with this moron. He's more concerned with his own self gratification than of the teams so let him go to the Cowboys with the rest of the criminals.

Pretty sure that the Cards have already cut bait and moved on. It's the fans that don't want to give up hope of him playing again - myself included.

It is done.

The thought of him on this defense as a fan surely makes wonder. But it seems he is not gonna play football again at this point...

Looks like we'll never know what happened and he will just disappear forever. It's really aggravating as a fan but I realize that it's over for D-Wash. What a waste of talent all over pot which shouldn't even be illegal in the first place.

But, it is. End of story. Look at how many other pro athletes can control themselves and not smoke pot during their careers and it goes to show even more what a joke Daryl is. What an absolute waste of on-field talent because he has no brains or no will power off the field. What a joke.

I agree. I get drug tested at least six times a year for my job. I don't even think about smoking pot because I would lose my job and my license. D-Wash should do the same no doubt but I still think what a person does on there own time should be their choice.
